Chap 14
Both of them left the 2nd amusement park to go to their next destination.
"My head is going dizzy, I think we should try to check the 5th Amusement Park first? You know, to check it out." Kyle didn't want to visit that particular place because there might be consequences and worst, a curse.
"But, as you can see—"
"Please, let's just check it out. We won't be going out of the car and just have a tour, okay?" To let the discussion stop and no more arguments, Kyle nodded and started to drive.
It took only 10 minutes to get there and he stopped the car."We will only drive around this place but no touching or anything, okay?" Kyle cleared the details for Coleen, he knew she will do something out of curiosity.
"Fine." Coleen answered.
Kyle started the car and went to the other side of the road to tour.
The amusement park that was full of lovely trees and flowers, now full of dead leaves and plants with trees that haven't been trimmed for decades.
It looked scary because the sunlight didn't even have the chance to light up the whole place because of the trees that grew too much then blocked the light.
"Wow, it was like in the movies. You know, scary and abandoned places that wasn't visited by humans for centuries." Coleen looked at the windows as the car moves while Kyle just focused on the road.
The road was full of leaves and broken small branches that made it more creepier for him.
Kyle didn't even breathe normally for a few seconds as they took a tour outside the park and as they finished he quickly gave an exhale.
"Okay, let's visit the other two. Do not go there at all costs, Coleen. I know you already, so please just promise me." Kyle said then held her left hand.
"Yes, I won't. So, our next stop is?"
"Qaster's and Hexmen's Amusement Park."
"Why does giving names to amusement parks are so weird today?"
"Do not know either." Kyle chuckled and drives for 8 minutes until they arrived their 4th destination, Hexmen's Amusement Park.
"This park is too childish? It got unicorn statues and cartoon characters too." Coleen excitedly said as they parked the car.
Both of them got out and started to take pics at the statues from outside and inside of the park.
"Look, remember this dude from our childhood?" Coleen pointed out the character that both of us grew up with.
"Yeah, that's Mr. Willowman! Let's take a picture." Kyle took the camera and called out a stranger to take a picture of them.
They thanked the stranger and they went inside. Smiling as they encounter more of their childhood cartoon favorites, they never missed the chance to take a picture in each of it.
"It is really good to be a kid again. I missed being an innocent kid, where I only think of food, play games, watch tv and sleep." Coleen said.
Kyle looked at her."But, you know, my life was better when you came into my life." She blushed and confidently kissed him on the cheek.
"Let's buy some food over there, kind of a little hungry." Coleen shyly said then wrapped her hand around his.
They bought cotton candy shaped like a flower, some dirty ice cream and lots of food.
Some food were still unknown to Coleen but Kyle was very familiar with everything.
He lets Coleen eat and try everything that is at least safe to her.
"Those cookies looked so fine, I wanted to try that too." She whispered with despair.
"Do you really wanted to try? You said you have an allergy?" He asked.
Coleen took a few seconds to respond. "Actually, I just don't like the taste of it. My dad keeps baking me cookies when I was young and I just hate it. But, maybe I will like it." She explained.
Kyle chuckled and didn't know what to say at first. He pinched her cheeks and laughed.
Coleen pouted as she was eating at that time and she was kind of hurt. "Dang, watch your hands! I know it sounds stup*d but I have to say I have an allergy or I'll just puke it. I don't want to disappoint people who made it for me."
"Okay, I will buy 2 chocolate cookies and you should have a bite, if you really hate it then just give it to me." Kyle went to the bakeshop and bought 2 pieces of chocolate cookies which was still warm.
"Here, just take a small bite and tell me if you like it." Kyle handed her one and she started to sniff it.
Her face suddenly turned confused but she tried the cookie. As she slowly chew the small amount of it, her face indicated that she liked it.
"For the very first time in life, I've never tasted this tasteful kind of cookie." Coleen paused and took a few bites. "Buy some more for me please." She pleaded as she bit more of the cookie.
Kyle nodded and this was the first she saw Coleen eat cookies. He suddenly remembered how many cookies he has to bake for her when they were in college.
He thought she liked it and started to give her more, but in the end she never actually tasted one of his baked cookies.
"I thought you actually liked my cookies before, I spent more time and energy making you but you actually never tried one?"
Kyle gave her a dozen more,"But, my friends even told me to eat some because it was really good. Don't blame me for having a childhood like that."
She gave him a peace sign and smiled. "Er, but I didn't waste it though."
Coleen felt the happiness she ever wanted and she is very grateful for every second she have with Kyle.
"I will cherish every second of my life with you, my love, I won't waste someone like you." Coleen said as they sat inside the car with plastics of food.
"Me too, I won't leave you alone, okay. Just tell me everything, I will not leave but rather, I will stay." Kyle started the car to go the last destination, Qaster's Amusement Park, Kyle's favorite park.
"My tummy is full again, oh my." Coleen exclaimed. "But, everything was worth it though!"
"Why don't you try having some exercise tomorrow? I have to do some daily exercise and proper plans, too."
"I remembered I printed out some exercise guides and proper eating style. It would be good for us if we immediately started tomorrow." Coleen opened her phone and started scrolling when it suddenly vibrated multiple times.
"You have received a bunch of texts, aren't you going to check?" Kyle asked and took a glance at her.
"This text messages aren't that important, some were just scam and unknown numbers." But, her phone didn't stop and she suddenly screamed.
Kyle immediately stopped the car at the side of the road, checking Coleen. "Hey, what's up? You okay? Did you get hurt?"
Coleen shakingly hid her phone back to her purse. "J-just that some scare prank s-sent by my friend. Dude, it almost killed me!" She took a few deep breaths and held Kyle's hand.
"I don't want to go away, Kyle. I don't want to lose you, not today." She bursted and started to cry.
Kyle comforted her and gave her a hug. "Hey, I won't go away or even you. We will face everything and stand for our love, we shouldn't be giving up, okay? Believe me." Kyle whispered and gently touched her soft hair.
"Promise me that whatever happens, you will be happy on what I will decide, right?" She asked, wiping tears from her cheeks. "Promise me, Kyle, please?"
"If it is for the better, I will accept it. But, that isn't the time for us to decide that, I want to be with you." Kyle said and Coleen finally calmed down.
Kyle checked her before starting the again and as he checked that she finally calmed, he started the car.
Coleen took a nap and opened the radio to listen some relaxing music, hoping to ease the stress away.
As they arrived after 25 minutes on the road, they arrived at Qaster's but it was full of people.
They decided to buy some food and go home instead because Coleen is feeling dizzy and nauseous.
He was the only one who went outside and bought some food that they wanted to try then started the car.
They arrived at home after 50 minutes and Coleen was already sleeping deeply. Kyle doesn't want to interrupt her sleep and just carried her all the way to her room, changer her clothes and charged her phone.
The curiosity inside started to get high, he wanted to see what Coleen saw in her phone. But, he wanted to give Coleen some privacy and refused to do so.
He puts all the food they bought inside the refrigerator and it was already 5 p.m., so he cleaned the house instead.
Kyle was bored after, he wasn't sleepy or have the mood to check his laptop or phone, he remembered the basement.
The basement that he wanted to try painting some masterpiece. "I think it's better to propose with a portrait of her, I guess?" He muttered.
He went to the basement without any doubts nor fear, he went there because all he knew that what he saw on that day was just an hallucination and nothing more.
Kyle went back to the seat and started to collect the things he needed, paint, paintbrush, some pencil and a canvas.
The canvas he saw was pretty old but it was wrapped in a plastic that almost ripped.
He took it out gently and started to draw Coleen in a wedding dress that he actually picked for her. It was made from Italy that he ordered a month before.
Kyle bent his neck and stretched his whole body after a few minutes of sketching the portrait.
He added some details and opened the paint. But, the paint was unusable because of old age, he decided to buy some paint on the department store to buy some.
Kyle Jimenez started the car and drove for 25 minutes after arriving at the department store. There he bought different colors of acrylic paint and water color.
He also bought some paintbrushes if the old ones can't paint anymore, but he thinks it is best to use new ones.
Those things are antiques and shouldn't be use after centuries in the basement,it should be preserved to respect the previous owner's belongings.
He went home with the art materials he bought and continue his work.
Using the new paintbrushes, he used it with all he can and made the portrait more lively. After a few hours staying up, he noticed it was already 5 a.m. of the morning and he must clean up before Coleen wakes up.
The portrait was only a half finished and he might continue this tonight and finish everything.
He cleaned up everything and went to the kitchen to cook breakfast for his Mommy and soon-to-be-wife.
Kyle cooked 3 eggs, some ham and pre heated the food they bought yesterday.
All of it was fine and he also prepared orange juice with ice cubes. He went to Coleen's room to wake her up and she responded back.
Kyle went to his grandmother's room and knocked but he was surprised when he felt someone touching his shoulder.
It was his grandmother."Oh, Mommy, let's have some breakfast if you don't mind. Everything's prepared." Kyle said.
"Just eat without me, I will mind my
own business and I already ate. Don't enter my room." She said and entered her room.
Coleen got out of her room and still half asleep, she was walking with her eyes closed. Kyle went to her and helped her come down the stairs to prevent any accident.
"I have fallen asleep while in the car, didn't I? But, how did I got into my room all by myself?" Coleen asked while Kyle assisting her.
"Er, of course, I carried you and I changed your clothes then charged your phone." He responded.
"Where is Mommy? Isn't she gonna eat with us?"
"She said she already ate breakfast but the refrigerator wasn't even touched." Kyle said.
"Maybe she ate some snacks instead, you know." She answered then ate a spoonful of rice.
They ate happily and never left any food in the table then do what they usually do in the morning.
If Kyle was the who washed the dishes yesterday, Coleen will be doing that job today. They do alternate jobs to have more fair house chores.
Coleen went to the garden to water the plants and everything when she heard something.
The clock's ticking, dear, what's your decision, now?
