Chap 12
"Wow, we didn't even sleep." Coleen stood up as the sun showed on the old curtains.
Kyle stretched his body and rubbed his swollen eyes because they didn't even took a nap the whole night.
They watched new released movies in different genres that let them awake for hours.
Coleen couldn't even feel her feet because she has been sitting the whole night while watching.
"Then, what should we do?" Coleen asked and went to the mirror. "Look at me, I look horrible with my eyes swollen and wide eyebugs." She laughed.
"But you actually said that if you weren't doing your beauty rest, the beauty products you use won't be effective anymore."
Kyle sat down on the side of his bed while Coleen opened the windows then the bright light of the sun came inside the room.
"Yeah, but I don't really care now. So, should we go and explore your place? I mean there were fun destinations around here, I just wanted to enjoy while I am here."
Kyle smiled and thought of a place near his hometown, there were lots of parks around, he remembered.
"There is a lot of amusement parks around here, if I can remember it have 5, but of course different styles and surroundings." Kyle paused. "But, I like the Qaster's Park, it has lots of benches and picnic spots."
"Wow, should we go after breakfast?"
"Yeah, if you like, I can show all of the amusement parks in here. Yet I just remembered the 5th amusement park, the oldest of them all were now closed."
Coleen brushed her hair while staring at the mirror, admiring herself. "What was the reason then?"
"They said it was too old and the swings and slides were unusable, the government leave it alone for decades and made 4 new amusement parks instead." Kyle explained. "Some say it was because of the souls roaming around from 17th century. You can't tell if it is true or not."
"But you will show me that amusement park, though? I really wanted to see."
"Okay." Kyle stood up from bed."I'll just make breakfast and talk to Mommy, she probably was worried last night." He left his room and went downstairs.
There he saw Mommy sitting on the couch staring at nothing. He doesn't want to interrupt her self thinking, so he didn't call her.
But, Mommy heard his footsteps and looked at Kyle, standing on the end of the stairs.
She smiled and then let Kyle sit beside her. "So, how was your day with Coleen yesterday?"
"It was amazing and we even have the greatest date ever."
Mommy holds his hand and Kyle felt warm yet a little bit cold.
"That is such a wonderful experience. No matter what, you shouldn't leave her alone and protect her at all costs, Kyle. I am counting on you." She smiled.
Kyle knew how much his grandmother loved Coleen, she always sends them handwritten letters because she can't use a cellphone and she wants handwritten.
Mommy doesn't want to forget the tradition of sending letters to love once using your own hand. So, she also hates someone who can't protect and hurt someone especially women.
"Yes, and I promise that I won't ever leave both of you, even if it costs my life."
She held his hand tightly and Kyle noticed her eyes were sad but full of hope.
It was weird for Kyle, but he will know the truth furthermore.
"So, before anything else, you should cook breakfast and have some fun outside. Be careful as I always say to you and leave this place after, okay?"
Kyle's eyebrows suddenly crossed with confusion. "What I mean is, you should leave after a few days and have some vacation on other places. You shouldn't waste your 2 months vacation here at my crappy house."
She moved her left hand to his right cheek, warm and soft."I am happy for what you promised, but doesn't it sound to much if you say 'even if it costs my life'?"
Kyle chuckled and looked once again in his grandmother's eyes once again, not knowing it would be the last.
"Can I hug you, my sweet baby?" Kyle nodded like a child and it brought back old memories. He was like a child again, but he is now a grown man that was about to get married."Mommy, before we leave here, I will propose to Coleen. I think you are right, it is the best to have a vacation on other places but we will stay here for another 2 weeks." Kyle whispered.
"If you got engaged, don't forget me, okay?"
He smiled happily and nodded. "Don't worry, I won't even forget to invite you to our wedding."
"Now, go face the truth and the future, Kyle. Do not go back just for me and move on." His grandmother's eyes started to release tears that Kyle hated.
He hated if someone cries, he thinks it was his fault of their sadness and despair.
"This is nothing, I am just happy you have grown such a man and you will be engaged any time soon. Your mom is happy watching you grow." She added and wiped the tears off her face, gently. "Go and make some breakfast for us."
Mommy opened the old television and started watching.
Kyle nodded and went to the kitchen then started to prepare breakfast.
He was about to get finish and about to call his grandmother from the living room, but the tv was on and she wasn't there.
Kyle took the remote control and was about to turn off the television when he spotted Mommy coming down the stairs, she looks like she just woke up.
He didn't mind and helped her on the way to the dining room.
"I will just call Coleen and we will eat, Mommy." He kissed his grandmother on the forehead.
Kyle was coming up to the stairs when Coleen got out of his room.
"I smell some bacon and egg, I just wanted to follow the smell." Coleen said and both of them went to the dining room.
All of them sat and started to eat without someone interrupting the quiet nature.
"So, where did you guys went yesterday?" Mommy asked.
"Uh, I told you about it before lunch, I even left you food here at the table, didn't you remember?" Kyle answered and took a spoonful of fried rice.
"Oh, yeah, now I remember. Do not go outside the house if you aren't going to tell me." She seriously said.
Coleen and Kyle nodded then minded eating their food for breakfast.
"Now," her grandmother stood up. "I will be at my room and get some more sleep, do the dishes and don't bother me, okay?" She said then went upstairs to her room.
"What is actually going on to Mommy? I mean, isn't she a bit cold lately?" Coleen whispered to Kyle while looking at Mommy's room.
"No, I don't think so. I just talked to her this morning about our date yesterday. She was really happy about our relationship."
After eating, Coleen washed the dishes then Kyle went to the garden to water the plants and the tree.
The tree started to be alive once again, more leaves and the color green is more darker than before meaning it is more healthy.
He took the water hose and started to water the plants, not leaving a single flower pot not watered.
The tree swayed towards his direction and it was more lively, it's sound as the leaves touch each other was like calling him by name.
"Here you go, big guy. You need lots of water and sunlight for you to live more years than me." He murmured and gave the tree a smile.
The wind stopped and so the swaying of the leaves, then a large branch of it almost fell at Kyle's head.
He picked up the fallen branch and tried examining it, but as he looked at his right hand, blood was coming out of his palm.
A big splinter touched his hand not a big problem, but he need to take it out quickly, so he went inside.
"Coleen, can you get the emergency kit? I just got a splinter." Coleen, who just finished washing the dishes hurriedly went to the cabinet and went to the table.
Kyle sat on a chair while Coleen held his hand, staring at the splinter. "I think this is not even a splinter anymore. It is almost 1 and half centimeters long, Kyle. You are bleeding too much."
"It's not a big deal, but I know I was careless and I just picked up the branch that falled from the tree." He explained.
"How are you going to protect me if you can't protect yourself into this kind of situations? If can't stand for yourself then don't promise me you will protect me, because I will be there to protect you instead."
Coleen used an alcohol for hands then grabs a tweezer to remove the splinter stuck in his palm.
She took a deep breath to prepare herself from all the blood coming out, to collect some strength.
After a few seconds of pulling out the splinter, it started to bleed more and Coleen covered it with a bandage. She cleaned the table and putted some long cloth to his right hand to support the bandage from blood coming out.
"That was a little bit of painful, but yeah thank you. I would have died if you we're not here."
"Do not joke about that, but seriously, do not do that ever again. You made me have some heart attack from that splinter." Coleen returned the emergency kit and sat on a chair beside Kyle.
"So, shouldn't we both get ready? I am so excited to spend another day with you, Kyle Jimenez." She smiled and pinched his nose.
"Yeah," Kyle stood up and so was Coleen."We both should get ready, we will be having some tour in my hometown."
Both of them went to their own rooms and got ready for another day of trip, another day to remember before the proposal of Kyle.
Kyle locked his room and went to his drawer then there he revealed a small box.
It was a wedding ring inside, with a heart shaped diamond with Coleen's name.
He stared at it happily, he was planning this for years and now it will come true.
He bought this ring 2 years ago and waited for the exact time to propose and the time that both of them were ready.
Now that he knew this is the time, the time their love more exposed to each other's presence.
"Just a few days, I will make you the happiest woman in the world. I love you till death, Coleen Hasine." He murmured and placed the box on its rightful place.
He took a bath and carefully raised his right hand to avoid it getting wet like he was a lunatic raising his hand in the middle of taking a bath.
After taking bath, Coleen was in her own room getting her makeup ready. She was more fast because it took Kyle in the bathroom for minutes to avoid his hand to get wet.
"I think my makeup is too dark, I shouldn't do my makeup too exaggerated, Kyle would probably scold me." Coleen started to remove her makeup and started to do everything from the beginning.
Her hands was so smooth from moving her brush and to putting her eyeliner like a professional.
After doing her makeup she prepared her purse and the dress she just bought a month ago that Coleen wanted Kyle to see.
She was about to go out of her room when a message appeared in her phone screen, it was her boss.
Coleen knew she will be fired for not responding a single text, but instead she turned off her phone and got out of her room.
"I won't be going into the cliffs again, never again." She muttered as she closed the door.
