When Walter got to the office parking lot, he quickly left without saying anything to Brenda. It was hard for Brenda to understand why her boss was acting so differently all the time. Before the meeting, he seemed fine as ever.
"Hi, Julie!" Brenda said with a smile as she walked into the office and saw Julie working in her desk.
"Hi, pretty Brenda. What's up with the boss again?" Julie asked through her lips, asking about their boss's mood. Brenda just smiled and shrugged as she followed her boss's figure away without caring.
Brenda was always trying to please Walter, but she never felt like she was doing enough. She was constantly worried about making a mistake, and she was always afraid of what he would think of her.
Walter sat down in his executive chair and turned it around so that it didn't face Brenda. After seeing Brenda again, his feelings were all over the place. He tried over and over to talk about why Brenda had left before, but he couldn't. Walter found himself punishing her or giving her more work to do instead of asking. When he was around Brenda, he always seemed to lose his cool.
Brain broke the silence by asking Brenda, "Have you ready the papers for our meeting at 7 PM?"
As Brenda looked up from her laptop screen to ask, "Are you ready, Miss?" she replied quickly. The moody behaviour of Brenda's boss was nothing new to her. She stopped thinking too much about Walter's quick changes from being nice to being mean in a matter of seconds.
As Walter looked at Brenda, he said, "Oh, by the way, starting tomorrow, please don't wear clothes that make your body look too good." Brenda looked down at her outfit as Walter looked at her, confused by what he said. She was dressed normally, in business pants, a blouse, and a blazer.
She asked, "What do you mean, Sir?" with a bit of irritation in her voice. She knew that many of the women who worked here dressed inappropriately, and some even wore miniskirts, but she was the one who was getting criticised.
Brenda looked down at her outfit as Walter looked at her, confused by what he said. She was dressed normally, in business pants, a blouse, and a blazer.
Brenda was a confident woman, but Walter's words made her feel self-conscious. She didn't understand why he was telling her to dress differently.
Brenda was starting to feel angry. She didn't appreciate Walter's comments about her appearance. She felt like he was objectifying her, and she didn't like the way he was making her feel.
"Is there something wrong with my appearance, Sir? I've made an effort to dress modestly," Brenda asked. When it came to her boss, she was losing her cool. She didn't mind being scolded and given work-related tasks, but she didn't want anyone to get involved in her personal life. Walter turned around and went into his private office, ignoring Brenda's protest. Brenda went to Julie, who was busy with her work, because she was mad.
Brenda was furious. She couldn't believe that Walter had the audacity to tell her how to dress. She felt like he was trying to control her, and she didn't appreciate it.
Brenda looked into Julie's stall and asked, "Are you busy, Julie?" Brenda left Walter's office and went to her new friend Julie's, who worked on the same floor. She was angry with Walter.
"Why is your face so scrunched up? Did your boss make another scene?" Julie asked with a smile. Dennis had asked her to be Walter's secretary, but she turned him down right away because she knew how tense Walter could be. Dennis also agreed with her that Brenda was a better choice for the part.
"Mr. Walter is so moody. He gets mad for no reason and then all of a sudden is nice again," Brenda said, resting her chin on her crossed hands in a frustrated way.
"Brenda, you need to be patient with your boss. He's single and wants to be loved," Julie said in a whisper, making sure no one was hearing. Julie pushed Brenda into an empty chair next to her and waved for her to sit down.
Julie asked Brenda in a voice that was almost a whisper, "Tell me, what did he do to you? Share it with me." Brenda started to talk about the time Walter asked her to change how she looked.
Julie laughed out loud, "Hahaha!" Brenda covered her mouth with her hands as a few coworkers looked at them with interest.
"Well, Brenda, you're unique. He never says mean things about the way his other employees look like that," Julie said through her laughs. Ding! Ding! Brenda's cell phone rang.
Walter, the boss, calling...
Brenda looked down at her phone and saw Walter's name on the screen. She looked like she was giving up. She told Julie she had to leave and answered Walter's call. She felt like yelling at her boss as she walked back to her office with her head down.
She turned back to face Walter and thought, "Good thing he's good-looking."
Brain asked right away, "Are you ready for the meeting later? Do you have a change of clothes with you?" Brenda just replied with a nod.
Walter slammed the door to his private office with the remote control and said, "Then use my office to change." Brenda didn't want to do what he said because she was tired of fighting. She would have more work to do after arguing with Walter.
It wasn't too different for Brenda to wear when she came out of Walter's office: cream dress pants, a neat black shirt and a belt. When Walter looked at Brenda, he let out a frustrated breath. He couldn't stand the thought of other men looking at Brenda's hot body. He thought that her clothes still showed off her curves.
The people they were waiting for finally showed up at 7:15 PM. After some small talk, they got right to the meat of the talks about the partnership. The second meeting went well. It could have been because Walter and the second client were both about the same age, which made the talk feel more casual. Unlike Brenda, who mostly kept quiet because she felt bad being in front of the guests and awkward. During the meeting, she decided to just listen quietly.
"Excuse me, Mr. Walter. May I speak with Brenda for a moment? We've known each other for a long time," Tyler asked Walter as they shook hands.
Walter responded with a neutral smile, "Of course, please go ahead." He then looked at Brenda. Walter's exit caused Tyler and Brenda to have a serious talk.
Walter was in the car and watched Tyler and Brenda talk very carefully. That's why he waited for Brenda, even though Tyler had asked him to take her home. He was sick and tired of being so jealous. Walter got it; he had seen Tyler sneaking looks at Brenda several times during the meeting.
Tyler had a tight grip on Brenda's arm as Walter was about to get out of the car. Walter quickly walked up to them.
"Excuse me, I need to talk to Miss Brenda about something important for a moment," Walter said in a cool voice. He then firmly grabbed Brenda's arm and led her into the car. Tyler tightened his teeth as he saw Walter and Brenda walk away.
Walter stopped his car in front of a*****e, and Brenda asked him, "Sir, why did we stop here?" Nicole asked Walter a question, but he just opened the car door for her and led her into the shop. Brenda unwillingly followed Walter into the store through the glass door. She looked around the whole store, which had brand-name clothes. When Brenda saw the price tags on the clothes, she sometimes had to swallow her spit because they were all so expensive and way out of her price range.
Before going back to Brenda, Walter told a*****e worker to get him a selection of clothes.
Brenda asked, "Is Mr. buying clothes for his girlfriend?" She was confused by how many clothes the store worker was holding next to Walter.
Walter told the store worker, "Miss, please help me pick out clothes for my girlfriend. I'd like tunics and dress pants." Brenda stopped moving when the worker started putting clothes on her.
Brenda was annoyed by Walter's bold behaviour and thought to herself, "Great, he's saying he has a girlfriend now. He couldn't even ask me out, let alone start dating." She couldn't believe how cocky he was!
"Start wearing the clothes I bought for you to work tomorrow. If that's not enough, we'll go shopping again," Walter said in a cold voice. Now they were in front of Brenda's flat block.
Brenda seemed nice when she asked, "Would you like to come in, Sir?" She then invited Walter inside. But Walter wasn't really Walter if he couldn't make Brenda mad.
"I purposely dropped by," Walter whispered into Brenda's ear. Her face turned red, and her heart started beating faster right away.
She opened the door and left it open while Walter came into her flat and said, "Let's go in." Brenda's new flat was big, but it still looked like it was missing some things. A lot of things were stacked in boxes in the corner of the living room. Walter sat in the middle of the living room and looked around at the two bedrooms, the dining room, the kitchen, and the living room that was linked to the family room.
She put a coffee cup on the coffee table in front of Walter and said, "Sorry, Sir, my flat is a bit messy. I haven't had time to clean it up yet."
Brain smiled and said, "Thank you, Brenda," as he drank the still-hot coffee.
Brenda thought to herself, "His smile... I might fall in love all over again." She liked that smile. Walter had smiled at her like that for the first time since they got back together.
Walter said goodbye when he was done with his coffee. He knew how far he could go and couldn't let himself do something very bad again. Their last relationship went badly, and Walter was determined not to let that happen again.
Bryan told Brenda, "You belong to me," and then he left, leaving her frozen at the door to her flat.

Brenda got dressed as usual the next morning, not paying attention to Walter's cold attitude.
For half of the day, there was no sound in the room. Walter was very focused on going over the papers he needed to sign, while Brenda was deep in her work. She didn't care much about what Walter said the night before because she was sure he had a lover. Walter was probably being sneaky with her again this time.
"Sir, where are you going?" Brenda asked Walter as she watched him put his papers in order and put them in his bag. It wasn't likely that Walter would leave work so early.
Walter told Brenda, "You can go home; I need to take care of something." He did this without looking at her and then left the office and went to the lift. When Walter's figure went into the lift, Brenda felt happy inside. At last, she could get off work early on a Saturday. She missed her boyfriend, whom she hadn't seen in almost two weeks.

Rachel said, "It's strange that you're home at this time," as she watched Walter climb the stairs to his room.
"I'm tired, Mom. I just want to rest," Walter said without much thought. He answered, but Rachel didn't pay much attention. She went back to watching her favourite TV show in the living room.
Between 7 and 8 PM, Rachel called Walter to invite him to dinner. When her oldest son Walter got home from work around 10 PM, he almost never had dinner with the family at home.
Nicole , Walter's younger sister, begged him in a whining voice, "Walter, why don't you go out tonight? It's Sunday, after all, and it's been a while since we spent time together like we used to. You're always working."
Walter answered, "I'm not in the mood, and besides, if I go out with a high school kid like you, people might think I'm hanging out with a fan club or something. It's not on my level!" He continued to eat his food.
Nicole asked her mother Rachel for help: "Nicole , your job is to convince Walter. I want to go out with him; it's been so long since we had a real date like we used to. He's always working."
Rachel gave Walter a serious look that meant he had to do what she said. "Okay, Walter, just be nice to your sister. Nicole misses spending time with you."
Nicole was told by Walter, "Fine, go change, don't wear shorts!" She immediately reacted by putting her hand on her forehead to imitate his authoritative tone.
“That's so Nicole ," Dennis said with a smile.
Walter's face turned sour right away when Dennis asked, "Oh, Walter, how's Brenda's performance at work? Is she doing well?"
"She's fine, Dad," Walter said in a short, uninterested voice. Rachel and Dennis looked at each other and thought that something must have happened at work.
Rachel sent a w******p message to Julie after dinner. She smiled happily as she read Julie's reply. Dennis laughed at his wife's nosy and interested behaviour and shook his head.
Dennis told his wife gently, "Let them figure things out on their own, dear. We don't need to get involved." He then sat down next to her and gave her a quick kiss on the forehead.
"Mom and Dad, we're leaving," Nicole told her parents as she walked up to them and kissed both of their faces.
Rachel told her daughter, "Don't make trouble and don't f**k up your brother."
"Got it, I promise!" Nicole answered, and her parents laughed.
Nicole asked with bright eyes, "Can we ride on Big Brother's motorbike?" Walter smiled and brushed Nicole 's hair with love. Nicole never hung out with boys her age because Walter would question any male friends who came over right away. Brain spoiled Nicole just as much as she spoiled him, so she didn't mind.

Bryan saw Brenda walking hand-in-hand with a little boy about 4 years old while he was getting drinks in the food court.
Walter moved closer to Brenda and said, "Wait here, Nicole . I need to go to the toilet." He slowed down, though, when he saw a man he knew coming towards Brenda. The man picked up the child and held him in his arms while holding a balloon. They looked happy and close to each other. Bryan had met Tyler yesterday and they were going to work together.
Walter felt bad and turned back to Nicole . He told her they had to leave. Nicole kept grumbling as they walked to the mall's parking lot, but Walter barely paid attention because he was still thinking about what he had just seen.
The sweet sound of a child saying, "Mama, I want chocolate ice cream," woke Walter up in the parking lot.
The person who had been with Brenda welcomed Walter, "Mr. Walter!" and walked up to him to shake his hand. Walter shook Tyler's hand back, but his eyes stayed on Brenda, who also looked surprised to see all of them together.
"Walter, let's go for a walk. It's Sunday, why stay home?" Nicole 's irritated voice woke Walter up, and he left his thoughts behind to follow her.
"Let's go home, Nicole ," Walter said. The image of Brenda and the boy was still fresh in his thoughts.
To get Walter to hurry up, Nicole pulled his hand and said, "Come on, let's go home. Why are you lost in thought?" Walter looked at Brenda like he couldn't believe it, and Brenda looked back at him with tears in her eyes. She really wanted to tell the truth about everything.
When the little boy called out, "Okay, let's go!" he broke their eyes right away.
