Chapter 40
Hiding in amongst the cargo was nerve-wracking. Although our hiding place seemed quite secure, I expected to be discovered at any minute. I’d never done anything like this before. My legs were jelly and my hands were trembling as we sat in the cramped space.
Sharwok brought us a couple of masks and air tanks and Daniel made sure I knew how to use them properly, then Sharwok sealed us in and went back to his duties. The mask was made of clear Perspex and covered my whole face. As I put it on, it made a sucking sound around the outside edge of my face as it sealed itself, then started delivering air through the tube under my chin.
