As I jogged, Daniel came up beside me out of nowhere. “Hey, you.”
“Hey.”
Daniel was the last person I wanted to be around right now. I felt so guilty and confused.
Well, maybe not the last. Xander would be the last.
He frowned. “Are you okay?”
I slowed down and then stopped. “Yeah. I’m fine.” I tried to smile as we caught our breath.
Those green eyes didn’t miss a thing.
I hadn’t realised I was crying. I opened my mouth, unsure of what I was going to say, when Xander walked up behind Daniel and put an arm around his shoulders. “Hey, there, Danny Boy. How’s it goin’?”
My whole body tensed. What was he up to?
Daniel shrugged him off. “Fine.”
