Maisie~ A hand shaking my shoulder dragged me from a dreamless sleep. "Maisie. Wake up." I groaned, burying my face deeper into the pillow. The voice was familiar and far too cheerful for whatever ungodly hour this was. "Maisie Whitlock." My eyes flew open. My mom was sitting on the edge of my bed, fully dressed, hair perfect, smile firmly in place. The morning light filtering through my curtains said it wasn't even eight yet. I blinked at her, my sleep-addled brain struggling to process what was going on. Mom never woke me up. She barely acknowledged my existence before noon. "What?" I croaked, sitting up slowly.
