I walked out of that empty mansion and didn't look back. The cab Alistair had booked for me was already waiting outside. The driver was looking at his phone, but he glanced up when I approached and gave a small bow before getting ready to drive. I slid into the back seat. “Grimshaw Industries. The headquarters.” He nodded and started the car. I couldn’t help but look out the window at the passing trees. I had traveled these same streets many times before, but now everything looked different… colder and uglier. Maybe it was just how I felt inside. By the time the cab pulled up to the glass tower of Grimshaw Industries, my hands were shaking. I stepped out, and stared up at the building. Somewhere in there, my fiancé was with her. I walked inside before I could change my mind.
