With his head hunched into the collar of his jacket, Vic hurried up Main Street toward the building where Matt waited. Not quite running but not quite not, Vic kept close to the buildings that fronted the street, using the relative shelter of the awnings and overhangs to avoid the brunt of the storm. Ice crunched underfoot, and frozen shards like slivers of glass continued to rain down around him, tinkling with a delicate sound as they shattered against the sidewalk. The power lines hissed from the middle of the street, where they lay across several parked cars to sputter wetly in the slush.
