Elena's POV
As Elijah and Gideon entered the cottage, I gestured for them to sit. Kira looked at the two of them, her eyes wide with a mixture of fear and fascination. The weight of the past millennia seemed to settle in the room.
"Thank you for coming so quickly, Gideon," I said, my voice firm.
Gideon nodded, his gaze fixed on Kira. "Elena, Elijah said… he wasn't exaggerating. I can feel the power radiating from her. It's… incredible."
"She is the one," I confirmed. "The Star-Winged One, reborn into this age. The legends are true."
I looked at Gideon, then back at Kira, the weight of ages pressing down on us. "The legend, as it has been passed down through generations of our people, speaks of a time when the world was young, when magic and spirit were not separate from the physical realm." I paused, gathering my thoughts, ensuring I conveyed the story with the gravity it deserved.
"In the beginning, there was unity. From this unity sprang two beings of immense power: the Star-Winged One, a being of pure light and celestial energy, and the Shadowed Beast, a creature of darkness and primal chaos. They were two sides of the same coin, necessary for balance."
Kira leaned forward, her eyes wide with rapt attention. Gideon, for his part, stood with the solemn stillness of a seasoned warrior, his gaze fixed on me, absorbing every word.
"But the Shadowed Beast," I continued, "was consumed by an insatiable hunger. He craved not balance, but dominion. He sought to extinguish the light of the Star-Winged One, to plunge the world into eternal darkness. Their conflict became the War of the Shifting Balance, a cosmic struggle that shaped the very fabric of existence."
"And… and the Star-Winged One fought him?" Kira asked, her voice barely a whisper.
"Fought, yes," I said. "But neither could truly destroy the other. Their powers were too intertwined. So, instead, they were locked in an endless cycle of conflict, their battles echoing across time and space. When one gained strength, so did the other. When one was weakened, the other would rise."
I gestured to Kira. "Down through the ages, the celestial power of the Star-Winged One has manifested in individuals like you, Kira – vessels of light, chosen by fate to carry the burden of this ancient war. And the Shadowed Beast… he always seeks to destroy them."
"But why?" Kira asked, her voice filled with a desperate urgency. "Why me? Why now?"
I exchanged a look with Gideon. It was time she knew the full truth, as much as we understood it. "The timing, Kira," Gideon said, his voice deep and resonant, "is rarely a matter of chance. The Shadowed Beast's power has been growing. We have felt it, a darkness stirring in the land, a hunger that has been dormant for centuries. His resurgence calls for the Star-Winged One to rise as well."
"And you… your people… you knew this would happen?" Kira asked, looking at Gideon.
"We have always known it could happen," Gideon corrected. "The legends foretold the signs: the shifting of the earth, the darkening of the skies, the awakening of ancient powers. We have watched for these signs, waited for the inevitable."
"And we have prepared," I added, my voice firm. "We are the guardians, Kira. It is our purpose to protect this realm from the darkness, to stand beside the light when it emerges. We were here before the memory of man, and we will be here long after. Elara, my sister, was a Luna of great power, and she too played her part in this eternal struggle."
Kira absorbed this, her expression a complex mix of fear, awe, and a dawning sense of purpose. "So, what do I do?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly. "How do I fight him? How do I… survive?"
Gideon stepped forward, his gaze intense but reassuring. "You are not alone, Kira. You have us. We will guide you, train you, help you to understand your powers. You are the Star-Winged One, but you are also a young woman who needs to learn to control a power greater than you can imagine."
"We will teach you to harness the celestial energy that flows within you," I added. "To wield the light, to defend yourself, and to stand against the darkness. It will not be easy, but you are stronger than you know."
