As always, please leave a comment in the comment section.~ (Cassi POV) She heard birds chirping from outside. It was a soothing sound to wake up to What wasn't peaceful was hearing the heavy curtains being jerked open and the sun blinding her barely open eyes. She jumped up in a sitting position. A maid was opening all the curtains. She suddenly turned and looked at Cassi. 'Good morning your majesties. Breakfast will be served in fifteen minutes.' Then she left. It wasn't until she said your majesties that Cassi became aware that a heavy arm was around her waist. She saw James open his eyes and look right at her. He blinked sleepily and smiled. Damn! He even looked good in the morning with tousled hair and sleep heavy eyes. His dark stubble that grew made him look even more appealing. 'Good morning, love.' He levered himself up on his arms and then leaned toward her. Before she knew what he was doing he kissed her softly on the lips. 'Good morning.' She mumbled. Suddenly feeling shy. 'Are you ready to start your day?' Mornings were not her best. She curbed her tongue when she really badly wanted to ask if she had a choice. 'Yes.' 'Good. I assume you need the bathroom. I'll give you a few moments. Then you need to dress. Well be having breakfast downstairs with the pack.' Her eyebrows went up. 'Pack?' He moved to get out of bed. The sunlight put shadows and enhanced some other parts on his body in every perfect way. She forgot what she just asked. She watched him turn to get coffee. Her eyes were glued to him. 'Yes. I think you need to get acquainted as soon as possible with them. They are your pack now too. As well as you being their queen. How do you take your coffee?' He turned and after a few seconds sent her a smirk. 'See anything you want?' She looked up at his face. Her face suddenly became hot. 'What? Sorry.' His smile grew. 'Your coffee. How do you take it?' 'Oh...um, black. Two sugars, please.' He came over and handed her a cup. She sipped at it and avoided his eyes. Embarrassed she got caught staring. She was about to set the cup down, and make a break for it, when his hand gripped her chin. Turning her face to him slowly he smiled at her. 'You can look. It's okay. I more then encourage it.' She didn't know her face could feel like lava. Dropping her eyes she took off to the bathroom. Splashing water on her face and taking a deep breath she calmed herself down. A new red toothbrush and other toiletries were laid out on the sink. She used the bathroom then buising herself she flossed and brushed her teeth. Putting her hair in a ponytail she was ready to face him again. He was already dressed in Jean's and a gray t-shirt. A t-shirt that left little to the imagination. It defined his pecs and six pack perfectly. 'I take it the outfit meets with your approval?' Shaking her head mentally she cleared her throat. 'I don't have anything to wear.' 'Yes you do. Before you arrived yesterday I took the liberty of having things bought for you. They're are all in that closet behind you.' Turning quickly she opened the closet door. It wasn't just a closet. But a walk in one. Pretty gowns, dresses of all styles were hung on the left side. Along with it were Jean's, tshirts, sweaters, jackets, and shoes were on the shelves underneath. Selecting some blue bootcut faded jeans, a black thin sweater, and some black leather ankle boots. Looking around she saw a small dresser stocked with socks, bras of all kinds with matching panties. Without thinking about it too much she selected a cream matching set. Without looking at him she went back into the bathroom and changed quickly. 'Keep your s**t together.' She mumbled to herself before opening the door. He was still waiting for her. It was his turn to gape. She had to admit the Jean's on her hugged her hips and butt nicely. The sweater accented her breasts and flat stomach. 'We should be going now, don't you think?' She asked, trying to break the silence. He strode toward her slowly. She was backed against the bathroom door when he was standing not even two inches away. Without warning he took her face in his hands and kissed her until she saw specks of light behind her eyes. He suddenly groaned and pulled away slightly. 'You're killing me, woman.' Taking in a breath he then took her hand. 'Let's go. They're all eager to meet you.' With that they left the room. Nervousness was balling in her stomach. She had no idea what to expect. As soon as they made it into the main hall she stood stock still. The room was huge. Tables were on each side of the room. Sitting what looked like fifty or sixty people. As if on cue everyone's talk slowly went quiet. Their heads turned toward her. James had his arm around her waist and gently glided her through the aisle of the tables. Up on what could only be described as a small stage was a giant oak table. It's definitely what you'd expect a king and queen to sit on in the old days with the royal court. He led her up the few steps and pulled out her chair. Maids came from each direction and placed platters of food in front of them. Cassi braved a stare in front of her and saw the crowd sitting, whispering and looking at her. It was obvious they were all talking about her. James squeezed her hand under the table. He leaned in and whispered in her ear. 'You'll be fine. Show them the same bravery you've shown me.' With that he quickly tucked into his food. She forced a couple bites of pancakes and a strip of bacon down. She felt like if she tried anymore it was going to come back up. So she distracted herself by studying the room around her. Wooden pillars surrounded the structure. Carved in it were viking runes. On a big ancient looking tapestry behind them was a symbol that resembles the fountain he showed her yesterday. 'The crest.' She reminded herself. 'Jeremy! Get down from there this instant.' A woman commanded sternly. In the corner of her eye Cassi saw a very small boy, no more then three or four, climbing the steps. He ignored what she assumed was his mother. The boy, Jeremy, came to Cassi and stopped at her side. His big toffee colored eyes and his smile held such excitement. His small blue sweater had syrup down the front. He held up a white daisy to her. Smiling Cassi accepted it. The room went quiet again. Standing up she took Jeremy's little hand and carefully walked him down the steps back to his mother. She bowed quickly. 'Forgive me, your highness. My son was just so excited to meet you. He's heard nothing but talk about your arrival.' Cassi held up a hand. 'No. It's alright.' Stroking the boy's soft light brown hair while spinning the flower between her fingers in the other. 'He seems like a sweet boy. Definitely a future charmer.' She joked while indicating the daisy. The woman looked stunned then she laughed. 'Well he is his father's son.' Cassi kneeled to Jeremy's level. 'Thank you for the flower, sweetie. It's very pretty.' Jeremy gave her a beaming smile before hugging her around the neck. Cassi smiled before patting his back gently. 'Now, best to go with your mama.' Looking at the woman she said, 'I didn't catch your name?' 'Natalie.' 'Natalie. Would you like to have tea with me later? I'm expecting company and I think I'd like your input on some things.' Natalie looked gobsmacked. 'Yes. Ofcourse, your majesty. Thank you. What time?' 'Around noon. Please bring Jeremy.' 'As you wish.' She bowed before leaving the room with her son. She looked around and saw people staring again. None of them were speaking. All of them looked unsure. Feeling bold. She thought she should have some fun while she had their attention. 'Ahhhhhh!' She gave a loud mock shout. All of them, even the scary looking burly men, jumped in their seats. Cassi couldn't help the giggle that escaped her. Soon the whole room erupted in laughter. Looking around before her eyes landed back on James. He was leaning back in his chair. Smiling happily. He winked at her before coming down to join her. 'Now that you all have seen your new queen. I think it's time we excuse ourselves.' He announced. Everyone stood and bowed as they left the room. They made it to the hall before he spoke again. 'The children seem to adore you.' He observed. Cassi shrugged. 'I'm glad. If they ran screaming from me I think I'd develop a complex.' She joked. James chuckled. 'Where are you taking me?' 'I have some business to sort. So as promised you can use this time to study.' He opened two heavy doors. Inside was a library. Actually it was the mother of all libraries. 'Oh my… ' Cassi's inner nerd was jumping at the sight. Shelves and shelves were surrounding the room. A ladder was fixed on the shelf so someone could use it to scoot to another section. A stone fireplace was in the center. In front of it were two reclining arm chairs. A couple tables were on each side of the room. Cassi could easily see herself getting lost for hours curled up reading. 'Do you approve?' 'Do I...How could anyone not approve of this? It's spectacular!' She gushed. 'I'm glad.' He showed her to a section. 'This section is all family history.' Walking further down he indicated another part. 'This is all about the fae beings.' Moving again he showed her another. 'This is what you could call the history on wars and the laws that have been made. It's important you begin learning all you can.' 'You don't have to tell me twice. I'll be more than happy to oblige.' 'Good. Now I have to go. Guards are posted outside and a maid as well if you need anything.' This distracted her from the book paradise. 'Guards? Why would I need them?' James sighed. 'You are a royal now, Cassandra. A queen. You need to be protected at all times. We'll discuss it later. Just enjoy yourself, please. I'll be back soon.' He kissed her on the head and left. Looking around she eagerly grabbed books from all directions. When she had a couple of stacks she immediately curled up on the rug in front of the fire and started reading. The first book was on the wars. The one between the witches and werewolves was mentioned. While reading she started to wonder if things were so bad, how could James and Sylvia work together? Surely even if peace was made there had to be some bad blood flowing in a way even afterward. Comparing it to her human wars, even after it was over, some people remained unforgiving and hostile on both sides. Maybe in the fae world it was different? Maybe humans could learn something from them. As she read she wrote down her questions. Before she knew it, the clock read a quarter to noon. Standing up she eased her stiff muscles. Should she wait for James or go on without him? A maid came in as soon Cassi made up her mind to go. Bowing she looked Cassi meekly in the eye. 'Hello, your highness. My name is Eva. The king passes along his apologies, but he says for you to go to lunch and tea. He says he will meet you at dinner.' 'Oh? Did he say what he's doing?' Eva quickly averted her eyes. 'His majesty says he has matters to attend to but you shouldn't bother yourself. He wants you to enjoy your afternoon. I've been instructed to help you if you require assistance.' Wondering why the woman seemed hesitant and so careful to choose her words, made Cassi's curiosity peak. 'All right then. Can you help me back to my room, please? I'd like to freshen up.' 'Yes, your majesty.
