My boyfriend has mysteriously disappeared again
My boyfriend has mysteriously disappeared again. This isn't the first time. Every few weeks, he vanishes for days without warning, making me wonder what on earth is going on. At first, I thought it was work-related—a sudden business trip or an emergency task. However, as time went on, his increasingly ridiculous excuses made me start to doubt. He claims he isn’t an ordinary person—he’s a monster from a horror game. A monster, and not just any monster, but a big boss who has to “guard the fortress” against players in some dungeon. It sounds completely absurd. Who ever heard of a monster being a model boyfriend? Even if I believed his ridiculous story about being part of a horror game, I couldn’t help but wonder—what kind of monster does laundry and cooks? What kind of terrifying boss hugs and kisses me every day? Because that’s exactly what Gu Mo is like. Gu Mo is nothing like the ordinary boys I’ve dated before. I swear he’s the perfect boyfriend. He does my laundry, folding everything neatly, and makes sure I eat every meal. But his strangest habit? He insists on kissing me every day. If I refuse—he’ll come up with all sorts of ways to wear me down, keeping me up at night. He’ll pout, complain, and use sweet talk until I relent. “Just a kiss, okay?” he asks, his voice low and gentle, making my heart race. Honestly, it’s impossible not to blush. I’m utterly helpless around him. His voice, his touch, his presence—they all turn me to mush. Yet, his disappearances still leave me troubled. It’s not that I don’t trust him; it’s just too hard to ignore the doubts inside. I mean, who wouldn’t want to know what their boyfriend is really up to when he vanishes for days on end? Finally, after one particularly long absence, my anger boiled over. In that moment, the frustration within me erupted like a volcano. When he opened the door with that same relaxed smile, I immediately confronted him. “Gu Mo!” I said, arms crossed, eyes sharp. “You disappeared again. Do you have a new girlfriend? If you want to break up, just say it. Don’t keep dragging me along!” He remained unfazed, that infuriatingly calm demeanor still intact. He leaned closer, his warm breath grazing my skin. “No, sweetheart,” he murmured, his voice soft yet comforting. His breath tickled my ear, making me shiver. That feeling was like a spell, leaving me a bit dizzy. Of course, once again, I started to soften. In that moment, I let myself believe him, immersing myself in the warmth and tenderness his voice brought. But then I caught a hint of mockery in his tone, the corner of his mouth curving into a smirk, and reality hit me hard. He was playing with my feelings. I kicked him away, breaking the delicate atmosphere he had carefully created. “I’m serious!” I shouted angrily. “Stop changing the subject. Tell me the truth!” Gu Mo ckled softly, clearly amused by my outburst. His eyes sparkled with mischief, and he took a small step back, still looking at me with that deep affection. “I’m not lying to you, darling,” he said gently. “I’m telling you the truth. Next time, I’ll deal with the players faster and come back to you sooner.” “Players…” I muttered, shaking my head. He was still clinging to that absurd story. There were no players, no horror game. But just as I was about to argue further, he moved closer, his soft lips pressing gently against mine. The kiss was so tender it was almost suffocating, as if he were trying to dissolve all my anger. D*mn, it really worked. My resolve began to waver, and my irritation melted under his touch. I knew he was lying. I wasn’t naïve. There was no boyfriend disappearing into a horror game to fight players. But when Gu Mo looked at me with those dark, tousled locks and sharp eyes filled with deep affection, making me feel like I was the center of his universe, it was hard to care about anything else. Who could resist such a captivating man, so focused on me? Clearly, I couldn’t. Eventually, I sighed in resignation and compromised, “Fine,” I mumbled. “But you’d better come back quickly next time. Otherwise, I’ll have to take punitive measures!” He laughed, his voice bright and sincere, making my heart flutter despite my earlier anger. “Okay, okay, baby,” he replied playfully, his eyes warm. “You’re right.” At that moment, he looked so innocent, so naïve, it was hard to stay mad. Like a mischievous child caught pulling a prank, he knew exactly how to win my affection back. As always, I let my guard down. “Let’s not talk about this anymore tonight,” I suggested, trying to act casual. “How about we watch a movie? You pick.” He raised an eyebrow, clearly pleased with the change of subject. “You mean you trust me to pick a good one?” “Maybe. But you better choose wisely, or I’ll make you responsible for ruining my evening.” I teased. “Challenge accepted,” he replied, grinning widely. As he walked to the living room, I couldn’t help but admire his easygoing demeanor. He rummaged through our movie collection, a focused look on his face as he furrowed his brow slightly. I leaned against the doorframe, watching him intently, filled with love and curiosity. There was a strange comfort in seeing him engaged in something so trivial, despite whether he chose a horror film or a romantic comedy. “Got it!” he finally announced, holding up a classic horror film. “What do you think? It’s the perfect combination of scares and fun.” “Another horror movie, Gu Mo! What if I end up hiding behind the sofa?” I protested, trying to suppress my laughter. “Exactly!” he shot back. “That’s what makes it fun!” He turned everything into an adventure, even the mundane moment of watching a movie. As the film began to play, the dim light cast flickering shadows around us, and I felt a familiar sense of safety being with him. Even with a suspenseful plot, I knew I had him by my side. Halfway through the movie, a particularly scary scene made me jump, and I instinctively grabbed his arm. He chuckled, the sound echoing in my heart like a beautiful melody. “See? I told you it would be fun!” “You’re so bad,” I mumbled, but the smile on my face betrayed my annoyance. As the credits rolled, I found myself nestled against him, enveloped in his warmth. In that moment, all my worries melted away. I could forget about his disappearances, forget about unanswered questions. Just being with him felt like having a little piece of paradise. “Promise me one thing,” I suddenly broke the silence. “Next time you disappear, could you at least give me a heads-up? Even a vague text would be good. That way, I’ll know you’re okay.” He turned to me, the playful sparkle in his eyes replaced by something deeper. “I promise you, sweetheart. I’ll do my best. I don’t want you to worry about me.” I nodded, warmth flooding through me as I felt his sincerity. “Thank you. I just want to know you’re safe.” “I’ll always come back to you,” he whispered, pulling me closer. “No matter what happens.”
