Chapter 1
Liana "Goddamn it!", usually I wasn't big on cursing but today was the day to bring out the big guns. "f**k", I tapped my watched again furiously and the hands didn't move. Which meant it wasn't 8:08am like I had initially thought. Ignoring the alarms going out in my head, I opened my purse and start rummaging for my phone which was nowhere to be found. I was pretty sure I had dropped it here with my keys. So I rummaged more and after a full minute of searching, finally found it tucked in the corner with all the other junk present in here. Note to self: Clean your purse!!! It was 8:26am and I was late. I was super late. s**t. Quickly tapping on my phone, I booked an Uber and send out a text to my boss to let him know I was running late. I sighed. I hated being late. This day had started like any other day (at least that's what I thought). Like any other day , I didn’t wanted to wake up but ALAS! I had to. After a quick shower, I ate breakfast, which consisted of cornflakes and did a mental go through of my clean clothes.. I decided on the black silk shirt and black jeans. My trusted white converse and black watch completed my look for the day. If you asked a business savvy woman, she'd probably say converse weren't business casual attire but they were it for me. And our office didn't have much of a dress code anyway so anything goes. The first s**t show of the happened when I came down to my parking spot and found out that my car had a freaking flat. Now, as an empowered woman that I am, I could change the tire quite easily but it will take some time. Time I didn't had. I checked my watch, 8:02am. The bus usually left during this time and it'll save me cab fare so I started walking the two blocks to reach the bus station. By the time, I reached there, I was out of breath and thirsty. It was just two blocks. Get yourself together! Note to self: start exercising more. The bus wasn't there yet. I checked the time again,8:08am. Wow, that two blocks certainly didn't felt like a four minute walk. There weren't any other passengers waiting so I just waited in silence. But when a few more minutes had passed and the bus still didn't appear not any passengers, I got suspicious. You know the rest. My Uber is here. what a great start. I was chewing my lips nervously while the car rolled on. It was a nervous habit. I remembered very well that today is the day of meeting with THE EATON ENTERPRISES and I was already late. So much for the first impression . Once we reached the tall building of my office, I quickly ran to the elevators after paying my fare and sending a quick smile at Samantha, the receptionist who waved back in response. The elevator was stuffed full of sweaty bodies and I somehow squeezed myself in. Another thing I hated but when the elevator finally dinged on my floor, I was the only person left for the top floor. I stepped out of the elevator There he was. My boss. Mr. Steve Johnson. He was a fine looking man of tall built and geeky looks. He was shaking hands with a man whose back was to me. Guess the meeting hasn't started yet, THANKGOD. I quickly ran towards my boss and stopped beside him. I gave him a sheepish smile. Later, I mouthed. He just rolled his eyes and turned towards the standing figure. ''Let me introduce you to my assistant, Mr. Eaton'' He started introducing me to the man, “This is Ms. Liana Harrington", He then turned towards me and said ''Miss Harrington , This is Mr. Helios Eaton , CEO of Eaton Enterprises. We will be having this meeting today with him''. All through this introduction I was looking at him. He didn't spare me a glance until my name was called. He just looked at me for a brief second. His eyes intense , nodded and turned his attention back to my boss. To say he was good looking would be an understatement of the century. He was absolutely handsome with brown slightly curled hairs, a firm forehead , slightly bushy but 'perfect in a manly way' kind of eyebrows. Then there was his eyes , they were infinitely blue and stormy intense gray at the same time. The artist inside me was thoroughly mesmerized by the beauty of them. Then that strong and straight nose and sturdy and sharp jawline with light stubble. His lips were pink but not in a girly kind of way , they were actually beautiful like the rest of him. He was wearing a gray three piece which perfectly molded with his well built. Everything about this man, from his eyes to body to dress was immaculate and screamed perfection. His name suited him well. I shifted my attention back to the thing at hand which was the meeting. The two men seemed to be waiting for something or rather someone. Guess I'm not the only late person. A short while later a man came in a business suit. He had files in his hands. He fast walked towards us and gave Mr. Eaton who I suppose was his boss, a cheeky smile. The other man just rolled his eyes and said to Steve, ''Shall we start the meeting Mr. Johnson'' . His voice was deep and authorative. Steve quickly turned towards the board room. Mr. Eaton's eyes briefly met mine and he gestured for me to go first, which I did. Feeling intense eyes boring on my back the whole way.
