Chapter One
Lizzy's POV The night air was filled with romance on my wedding bash, the darkness was illuminated by a thousand twinkling lights The atmosphere vibrated with happiness and love - excitement all over the places as the guests gathered. Ofcourse looking so stunning in my red sparkel sequined mini dress just like the way I looked in my wedding dress. I laughed with everyone else as my friend, Leah cracked a joke, the soft music was going underground, my husband, Drek Harrison, was no where to be found just like always. However, amidst the happiness, a sense of unease settled over me, a truth I didn't want to believe, just as the feelings settled in again my phone buzzed. I had received a strange message from a strange number earlier today - another message again. The message reads: "The seed is weak, the harvest uncertain." My heart skipped a beat. What did this puzzling message mean? And who could have sent it? I tried to brush it off as a prank, but the words resonate deeply, echoed in my head. I sincerely want to appreciate you all for coming through and showing up, I so much appreciate your presence. "I said this with joy looming over my face." I reached for my wine glass until a lady interrupted as though she had a message for me - leaned forward to whisper something into my ear. I was shocked, the same text messages I've been receiving - The seed is weak, the harvest uncertain. She smirked jeeringly and left immediately. I became more bothered but lifted up my glass of wine to have a zip not to create attention by the people around, I edged slightly so as not to attract a lot of attention to myself and cast a furtive glance. As my eyes swept the room, they met with the dangerous eyes of the illegitimate sons of the Harrisons, a such had ever seen in my life. I was already sensing danger coupled with the anonymous text messages I've been receiving. Getting married to Drek, the only legitimate son of the Harrisons must have been a battle I guessed. I began to feel unwell. At first, I brushed it off as a minor side effect of the wine, but soon, I started experiencing severe stomach cramps and dizziness. "What's wrong?" Leah asked, holding my hand. I tried to speak, but my words were slurred, and couldn't seem to focus. I managed to locked eyes with the lady that came whispered to me - Her lips curled in disdain. I concluded that something was definitely off not that I know of. The last thing I could hear was the siren of an ambulance as my condition keeps worsened, collapsed finally. From my wedding bash to the hospital, such a mysterious ride. *********** The scent of disinfectant wafted into my awareness, the back of the man I was seeing with a blurry vision was not my husband's, and who is this? "I asked myself in curiosity." Just when he turned slightly, it's Daniel, my husband's friend. Oh, you're awake?. "He spoke with heartfelt concern" Yes, what's happening? Where's my husband? "I asked sightly opening my mouth" You were rushed down here from your wedding bash last night and it was confirmed that you ate poison. Poisoned? "I raised an eyebrow" This is the closest clinic to the venue as the situation demands urgent attention "He continued" Where is my husband? "I asked another question before he could continue" Well, he'll be here very soon. "Daniel said" That statement raises some red flags, I thought within. Please when am I leaving here? "I asked weakly" You may need to spend more few days here because of the intensity of that deadly poison, "he continued " I was making an arrangement earlier with the doctor on how to transport you to my hospital but it's not ideal yet to be transporting you. "Daniel's voice was heavy with worry, expressing his deep concern. He stretched out his hand to me, passing me my phone. "You have a message, it's been raining text messages on your phone since, I think it's urgent, you should check it out. My heart skipped a bit, it's the same unknown number with the same strange text but added another clause this time around. "The seed is weak, the harvest uncertain. The garden may not bloom as expected. The soil needs extra care, ask your Drek." This message this time around send shivers down my spine that Daniel had to noticed. "Are you Okay?" He leaned towards me asking. Then I began to cry, my palms were sweating and shaking, Daniel collected the phone from me and checked the message. Lizzy, don't tell me you're bothered about this kind of message? "He continued " This is just sort of a prank anyone jobless could have done. "He move closer and sat beside me" Lizzy, "He managed a small, insincere smile then he continued" I can't even read any meaning to this message but you can as well ask your husband to clear off any doubts" I could read insincerity through him as if Daniel is hiding something I need to know from me as well. I was bewildered and unsure, didn't know what to make of the puzzle. Why this kind of message? Why was I poisoned on the night of my wedding? And why asking my husband? Does the message relate to Drek in anyway? Later in the afternoon, Drek had left, one of the nurses came to check the drip connection, I was already sleeping away but this strange familiar voice jolted me back to life. "Hello madam, how do you feel now?" The nurse asked but bet it, it was the same lady of the last night party. My eyes became wild opened, "The garden may not bloom as expected. The soil needs extra care." She said this while adjusting the drip connection and smirked jeeringly. "Don't say we didn't warn you" she added. I was frozen looking at her back while she walked through the door leading out of the private room. Before I could come back to my senses - running after her, I bumped into another nurse at the entrance to check up on me. A nurse just left here now "I insisted" No madam, please can you go back to your room? "She said while holding me with her hand" I'm the only one assigned to you. "She continued" It's not safe for you madam to be walking around like this, you need a total full recovery. The room became silent saves the tiny echoing of her voice fading off away gradually.......
