Soon Be Snow
Autumn is ending. Winter is coming, snow will be falling anytime soon. Our scout leader as well as us, the scouts, are preparing rations for the coming snowfall. Management of rations are being held, some fellows are ordered for hunting and gathering food, scouting and guarding, while some are ordered for preparing shelter and keeping supplies in order. I was assigned for hunting of course, twelve of us are ordered to hunt or gather food supplies. We are split into four subgroups which means there are three in each, some of us has its own advantages but whatever. It is morning, the sun shines far east, and the trees reflect the blue skies. I stood up and walked out of the tent and drank some warm water from the heating cauldron. I stood up and gazed at the rising sun from the eastern hills. "Gyer, come here." Tarth, a scout leader of old age called me with his hands gesturing for me to come, and so I did. I walked to him, expecting an order to be issued. "See this?" he says pointing to an undetailed map. I looked at it and saw he is pointing at the western side of the camp, from the hills. "Your crew will be hunting here. It is expected that there might be... gazelles in that area." I nod my head for confirmation. "You and your crew will be expected to come back at sunset," he said and looked at me. "You must be coming here with meat in your shoulders, or else, the band will die of starvation in the next winter. Approach us whenever you're ready and we'll give you what you need." He turned back and proceeded to walk from another hunting crew. His words made sense, our rations are shrinking and we must need to gather edible supplies. The emperor might not be helping us soon, the capital has its own issues. Besides, after this winter, another wave of supplies from the capital is expected to come at spring. And so, I walked into fur tent in order to remind my crew.
