CHAPTER TWO Home bitter home? Laughter! Laughter! Kai Hadez was laughing like i just told a funny joke. My face redens in embarrassment. He might think this is funny but I was serious. His ego had probably been flattered by every girl saying she wanted to marry him. I felt disgusted knowing I was now officially one of those thousand girls. But i was different because unlike them, I was doing it not because of—- never mind. It’s still the same as their reason. His name and all the wealth and power that came with it. I wanted to selfishly use his name for myself. That was the sole reason I was here causing all this havoc. “Get well soon Naya.” He turned and walked away. The back of his wet shirt clinging to his back and revealing his taut muscles as he walked away. I felt like a loser. So I wasn’t even weighted enough for my words to mean anything to him. How low do you have to be for someone to not acknowledge your threats ? Well we just found out how unbothered Kai was with me. I picked out my phone and walked out of the drenched building. I had ten missed calls from out caretaker. She never called me so this was a surprise. I quickly call her back. “Alda I missed your calls.” I said, wearing a worried expression. “Miss Naya please come home quickly!” She burst into tears. Alda was a middle aged woman who my father had especially employed to take care of me since my mother’s passing. She was the mother figure in my life. Hearing her cry bitterly made me even more worried. “ Why Alda? What’s wrong? Tell me what happened?” I quickly entered my customized pink G- wagon speeding to my penthouse apartment. As a Shane and not just a mere Sahne but the sole heiress to our empire, I always had the best of everything. I always had a swarm of people gravitating towards me and wanting to be friends or date me. I was Naya Shane, popular and rich. That was all the things my age mates wanted hence they all naturally flocked to me. My dad had gifted me an apartment in the most luxurious penthouse in the city. Not only did you have to have the money but you had to be old money and make a particular list to become a candidate to live here. I had the best apartment here with a sky view. The last floor. I didn’t even need to go to my floor to realize what was happening. My things were being thrown out of the penthouse. My clothes were scattered around haphazardly on the floor. My Rare and limited edition bags were broken from mishandling and expensive make-up and skin care products were broken on the floor. Rage filled me at the sight of it. “Stop this nonsense immediately.” I sanctioned, walking towards the chaos. “Please just let the men do their jobs.” The manager says, cutting in front of me. It was the first time I had seen her face and she had blue eyes. It was the first time she was looking me in the eyes. She was usually always looking down and bowing. “They are saying something like you are illegally staying here and are throwing your stuff outside. Miss Naya Shane has always been nice, generous and a good resident. What more do you want? Why are you being wicked and doing all this? ” Alda said accusingly. “Please we are only obeying the demands of the penthouse owner.” The manager spoke. The nameless manager. I didn’t even know her name That’s how much irrelevant she was in my life. I was here for months and only knew her as the manager. I was so out of it and whatever was happening was so unreal. I never knew someone as privileged as me who had people queueing to help was being treated awfully. Alda cut in. “Are you really that dumb that you don’t know Miss Naya could buy this entire building if she wanted to? She’s the reason why a lot of people even moved here. Why are you doing this to one of your influential residents? Are you that incapable of working here if you don’t know this?” “That’s enough Alda. Let's not question her competency. I placed a hand on Alda’s shoulder to gesture her to stop the insults. “Miss Naya but–” “Alda” “You’re too nice to those who don’t deserve it.” she grumbled in a whisper. “Who is this owner you speak of ?” I questioned the manager. I was the owner. My father had gifted it to me when I wanted to move out after university. Was she mistaken? “You were indeed the owner. The property is in your name but it was your father who purchased the property and he changed the ownership. Your father had me throw everything occupying the apartment out. Those were his words.” “Thank you for informing me. Carry along then.” I said nicely to her. I knew who was really behind this. Whatever I'd say to the manager won’t matter because she too was a mere pawn on someone’s chessboard carrying out orders. “Just bring my items out a bit more gently. I doubt you can afford the damages.” I say curtly, picking up one of my luggage bags and walking away. “Yes, ma’am sorry.” The manager quickly apologises and shouts at the movers to be cautious with the items. She seemed to have remembered what I could do and how mean I could be to those who crossed me. An unsaved number calls my phone. Although I had unsaved the number to prevent me from calling them ever again, i still recognized the number. I considered not picking for how he hurt me but I couldn’t resist. He was my beloved father after all. I pick up the call. “Dad?” I spoke with a shaky voice. “Did you get the present I left at your apartment.?” A female voice spoke mockingly.
