Once again Siin had projected himself to be a hero among other staffs and they applauded him in admiration. Doctor Allen walked his way to Siin , held him in a fatherly embrace and whispered to his ears.
" I don't know where you have come from . But I am glad you came to us when we needed you the most . Thank you very much." Said Doctor Allen and went back to meet Sheikh who couldn't stop looking at his heir in excitement.
[Throw back]
Ramlah had been sent into a frenzy of excitement when she heard the good recommendation Siin had gave about her in her absence. She also heard about the incredible offer the Sheikh had made to her and there was no way on earth she was going to let such an offer pass her buy. All she had to do was wait for the Sheikhs Emissaries to come and tour her to the mansion as she had received a mail from Doctor Allen , congratulating her on the new appointment she had gotten with the Sheikh. He had also asked her to tender her resignation letter to the facility so that her exist could be formal. This mearnt she could always reapply to work with them anytime she felt the need to. She had also heard that Soon was now a staff in the facility and was performing yet another complex surgery on the heart of young soccer player who had slumped in the field of play. She wanted to thank him in person and also inquire why he had made up stories to favor her as she never took part in the surgery that saved the childs life. She felt indebted to him as her new pay was just what she needed to fully Carter for her unemployed parents and two younger siblings whose school fees and bills she had to pay from her salary as nurse in the facility. Her and her family had escaped the war at Sharjah and lived as refugees in Salda Kalif. For many weeks they had lived under the bridge and shielded themselves with polythene bags when it rained. Their saving grace was that Ramlah had just graduated from nursing school at Sharja, began treating fellow refugees for a few cents which she used to buy food for herself and her family. Soon her fame spread to the poor locals of Salda Kalif who could not afford the average pay of medical facilities. They flocked to the bridge in their numbers where Ramlah had no choice but to treat the majority of them for free or without profit as they were people who could hardly afford food and had no money to buy Medicine . Yet they came to Ramlah who used some of her profits to buy Medicine for them. However some locals paid their bills appropriately as they felt her services were so cheap compared to that of other clinics. Some had no money and brought farm produce in exchange of getting treated by the young nurse. Had all her customers paid her what she had charged them.she would have had little reasons to seek for a job as business would have been profitable due to the amount of patients she treated. But since she dealt with mostly poor people she could hardly make any profit. But as long as she could put food on the plate of her parents and siblings and long as put smiles on the faces of her customers. She felt Happy and kept on strong in her source of daily bread. It wasn't too long before Doctor Allen had heard about Ramlah from one of the cleaners in the facility who lived near the bridge that had became the house of many refugees including Ramlah and her family members. Doctor Allen was touched by the story of This young refugee and amidst the raging unemployment in Salda Kalif. He asked the cleaner to fetch the young lady.
" Take all your credentials and appear in your best dressing . You may be interview. And if you are lucky you will get a job. " Said the cleaner who had rushed down to the slums to fetch her friend before the Doctor would change his mind.
" Thank you Zaynaba. Just a give me a moment to fetch my credentials and wear something better." Said Ramlah and rushed into the tampolene room under the bridge , that housed her and her five siblings. She quickly took a wrapper and changed into her best outfit which was a black floral gament that had faded as it was old and worn out. But as long as it protected her modesty. It was good enough for her to feel confident in it. She adjusted her blue scalf Making sure all strands of her head was concealed. She then headed to her mothers old box and took out a file from it, which contained all her educational credentials and Identity card.
" My dear, you seem to be in a hurry , where are you rushing to?." Asked her mother who had been lying down quietly on a mat.
" Oh mother , I thought you were asleep. Zaynaba my friend who works as a cleaner in the big medical facility in town. Referred me to her boss at the office. He asked her to fetch me. Pray for me mother . I really want to get a good job so I can take us out of this place. We deserve a good life. " Said Ramlah as she hurried toward her mother and knelt before her so as to receive her blessings.
" May God be praised in all situations. He sees your good heart and he shall always make a way for you. Had my atritis not been so bad today, I will have followed you to the facility. You have my blessings my child." Said her mother and kissed her warmly on the forehead.
" Thank you very much mama. I will take my leave now. Zaynaba is already calling me." Said Ramlah and hurried out of the polythene room.
Just when she and Zaynaba were about to get going . Two patients were rushed into the vicinity they had been attacked by a bull and hard severe cuts on different places on their bodies. They were bleeding profusely and needed immediate medical attention from Ramlah.
" You will have to refer them to a clinic. We have to go . We can't keep the boss waiting any further" Said Zaynaba after realising that Ramlah had began showing signs of attending to the patients inspite of the dire importance of the appointment she had with Doctor Allen.
" Zaynaba these men are mortally injured. If Ieave them to their faith . They may bleed to death." Said Ramlah who had quickly handed over the file to her friend and hurried towards the patients so as to know what steps to follow in arresting the bleeding.
" When will you learn to put your self first. You keep prioritising the problems of others over your own and that's the reason you haven't been making a serious progress. Please Ramlah refer them to a clinic and let's go immediately. I'm afraid if you loose this opportunity , you may never have a better one again. You know how difficult it is to get a job these days. " Said Zaynaba as hurried toward her friend in a bid to persuade her to abandon her decision.
" Oh Zaynaba, you know very well the clinic would not treat them without seeing a police report. And even if they hard a police report. These poor farmers may not be able to pay the down payment for treatments to be given to them. Their wounds Are deep and severe. They will be taken to the theater and they can't afford it. Im so sorry , but I have to attend to them first. " Said Ramlah as she knelt down tying a clothing rope over the cut of one of the patient. Which had been bleeding badly.
" Don't just stand there, Zaynaba help me fetch my first aid box. I believe I still have some vile of vitamin k injection . That would help stop the bleeding so that I can commence the stictching." At this point a little crowd had gathered around them and it was the culture of the young girls in the hood to willingly asisst Ramlah in handling such cases a few of them had gradually learnt a thing or two in the art of nursing and were willing to learn more.
