Yes. Firstly your mothers name is Fidelia, Fidelia Tavernsworth. She was born in Belgium to a family of three , making her the Second and last child of Professor Tavernsworth. Her father was a very wealthy man in Belgium and he had no problems sponsoring Fidelia and her Sister Anne Marie to all the countries they ever dreamt of going to. Many years ago, Fidelia came to Lukaka as an aid worker. There had been an outbreak of Cholera and lots of countries had sent in doctors to curb the spread of the deadly disease. Fidelia was among those who had came from Belgium. She was still very young then but was already a certified surgeon. Unlike other whites who seemed eager to go back to their country, Fidelia loved Congo and loved everything in it. She decided to stay and volunteer as a doctor in the local clinic. She performed many free surgeries and donated lots of food and medicine to the needy. Well, she met Sebanyi who was at that time the chief of Lukaku west. You know your dad is a charmer just like you. It was almost love at first sight. Among all the men she could have chose, she decided to choose Sebanyi not minding the fact that he was already married to me and we had five kids by then. The both of them fell in love and soon she had sent words to her father in Belgium about her adventures and how she planned on getting married to the love of her life who was a chief. Her father who was her sole sponsor , made clear his disapproval of her marrying a Congolese. He told her that her hands was already been competed over by the sons of the wealthy and affluent and ordered her to return to Belgium immediately." Said Ummee and Smiled.
" So my mom chose love over wealth. " said Siin as he nodded in understanding.
" Exactly. Fidelia. Made it clear to her dad and sister that she was not going to forsake Sebanyi for all the golf and silver in the world. She begged her father to understand her but such understanding never came to past. At first her dad had tried all sane means to get her back to Belgium. He even sent her sister Anne Marie down here to talk to Fidelia into leaving Congo for good but Fidelia had made up her mind and the two had a verbal fight leading to end of their close bond and friendship , but they could never undo their sisterhood." Said Ummee and smiled quite bitterly.
" Where is my moms sister now?. Did she ever return again.? Asked Siin with a touch of curiosity.
" Never. No one saw her from that day." Said Ummee and Sighed lightly.
" I see. Please continue , my mother. I am with you." Said Siin as he nodded.
" When her dad had no other means to bring her back to Belgium, he withdew his sponsorship from her personal foundation. It was the same funding which she had used to Carter for her needs and also Carter for the needs of the less privileged. Fidelia was shocked that her own father would treat her that way. Far from the need to feed her own head. It was the inability to continue to feed the dozens of people that hurt her the most till she broke down in sobs not knowing how to face the hungry children. It was the best time for your Dad to take her as a wife and he wasted no time in doing so. Her sacrifice was well known across the whole villages and everyone fell in love with her including the young and the old. " Said Ummee with a reflective smile.
" I see why they despice me for taking away their angel." Said Siin .
" You have not seen why . You could only imagine how good she was. She lived a petty life like any other household wire. She followed me to the farm and also followed me to sell at the market. She was my doctor and also the doctor of the whole community. She never collected a dime from anyone in the name of treatment. I will live my life and die some day, this I am sure of, but I will never see another soul as kind as Fidelia. It was as if her ability to get offended was taking away as I had never seen her got angry at the height of provocations. Oh Fidelia may your beautiful soul rest in heavenly peace." Said Ummee and cleaned the tears that had rolled from her eyes.
" Amen. I know my mother is in a better place. I know she is very happy. Look at this blue pendant. It's a pearl I got Many yaers ago when I was still a little child. I got it from a Shaman who sold it to me at the market square. It's no ordinary pearl as it lived up to it's promise of saving me from loneliness and also keeping to the other part of it's promise. " Said Siin as he held the pendant dangling slowly from it's steel necklace.
" Yes I think i know such a pearl. A uncle of mine use to have one just like this one you hold. It's really no ordinary pearl. My uncle was a Member of the Anansi brotherhood. It was a fraternity who got their powers from the dreaded witches of mountain Kuvaki. The brotherhood itself was not considered to be a threat. They claimed to uphold the symphony of brotherhood amongs their members. However it's the source of their powers that scares people a lot. The Kuvaki witches are known for their powerful charms which results mainly from human sacrifices. They have the backing of the chief priest thus no one dares to challange them openly. Their artifacts most times comes with a gift to expensive to be paid by even life itself.it is bek I believe this pearl of yours was fashioned by them and them alone." Said Ummee as she bent further to look at the pendant as if though her sight were failing her.
" Where is this mountain. I will need to visit them alot is at stake for me, if I fail to fix my pearl. " Said Siin , almost before Ummee had finished speaking.
