Cade yelled into the phone. “Uncle Bill! It’s a bright-boy alert! It’s imminent. Today’s date! We missed the date. Today is May first. At 2:16 p.m.! He’s going to detonate at the exact date and time of the Osama bin Laden assassination. This is payback that they failed to carry out last time!”
“Where?” Bill stammered.
“He said it will occur at the mouth of the beast! Langley! It’s Langley, Bill. Khalid Kunde is going to take out the CIA at exactly 2:16 p.m. We’ve only got a minute to stop him.”
In the situation room at NSA, Bill wheeled around. Stephen Latent saw him from across the room and would later say he’d never seen Bill’s face so pale and defeated.
