37 INTO THE MOUNTAINS Goth Hussain, Pakistan. About forty-two miles north-northwest of Karachi. Driving along “the road to the north.” The flatbed of the tractor-trailer was skinned by a tarp that fully obscured its lethal cargo tucked neatly below. It stretched taught across the twenty-five-foot-long warhead, outlining only the topmost surface of its rounded exterior. To passersby, it may have appeared to be a length of pipe on its way to a job site. Sleeping underneath the protective blanket, the warhead itself was girded on either side by huge wooden posts running the length of the missile.
