Laila Shortly after lunch, James was called away on an urgent mission, leaving me alone in the room. I sat there, staring into the unfamiliar space that didn’t feel even remotely like mine. Restless and fidgety, I decided I couldn’t stay cooped up any longer. I would’ve loved to explore the pack grounds, maybe even take a stroll through the forest. But James had made it clear—wandering alone was off-limits. And I didn’t want to be anyone’s burden. Not yet. So instead, I opted to wander through the pack house and get a feel for the place. Floor by floor. When I reached the third floor, I found a long hallway lined with doors on both sides.
