Thank you so much to my.friend, Viola, for writing this chapter in my place.
⛔Last part of chapter 1 ⛔
––––
Cameron had put all the groceries into the cabinets and refrigerator. Once he was finished he sat down on the couch to watch whatever was on the TV
Xavier finished his breakfast and headed down to his lab, probably to finish constructing it. By now, Alayah had left the kitchen to go upstairs.
~Upstairs~
Zeke had entered his own room, tired from cleaning up Erin's mess of a room. She probably made it extra dirty on purpose to give him a lot more work and back pain.
Zeke still hadn't gotten the mail, a little afraid of not being able to afford the bills.
"Not like last month." Zeke thought.
Zeke wasn't mad that his parents didn't pay all the bills a year earlier. It was so, them. They never did truly care for their childrens' well-being. Some would say they'd fall under the 'abusive' category. Zeke wouldn't say that, he'd say it was really tough love.
Zeke never had to clean his room, he was barely in it and he rarely got sleep so his bed was always straight.
He skipped his room and moved to the bathroom. He reached under the sink for the bathroom cleaning spray. He knocked over a few bottles but no one would even notice anyway, only Zeke went into that cabinet as it only had cleaning supplies and Zeke was the only one that cleaned.
He sprayed the sink and wiped it down with a sponge. All it took was or swipe for him today, he was so tired.
He moved onto the toilet, checking behind the the seat and on the sides to check for dirt or any other nasty stuff.
Nothing out of the ordinary.
He opened the shower curtain, nose already scrunched and mind prepared for the dirt horrors to lie in front of him.
The shower hadn't been cleaned in about two weeks, but now that it's their first back to school shower he knew they really cleaned themselves. Which really left a thick dirt ring.
He scrubbed the tub really hard, he wiped every inch of that tub. All the rub coming off the side like washing soap off a car.
He used the showerhead to rinse the dirt into the drain. He watched it all melt like a popsicle did if someone left it out in the hot sun.
"BOO!"
Zeke shrieked, he almost wet his pants.
Cameron snickered, holding his stomach and throwing his head back as little laugh s came out.
"You-you should've seen your face!" The way he snickered was funny to Zeke, almost adorable in a way.
"Cameron, that was not funny!" Zeke playfully slapped him.
"Alright, alright.I'm sorry.." Cameron apologized.
Zeke laughed and jumped up and gave his BFF a hug, they hadn't seen each other in a month or so.
They parted from each other, slightly blushing as it's been so long since they even had a conversation.
The awkwardness was definitely set in
"Y'know, it's been awhile since I've seen you..why'd you stop comin' over?" Zeke asked his friend, his only friend.
"I'm sorry, I got caught up with a lot of stuff at home. My mom has been keeping me on lock down." Cameron didn't lie to his friend, his mother Elizabeth didn't like Zeke or his siblings because of their royal elemental bloodline. Elizabeth just hated all elementals I'm general. She didn't even like her husband once she found out he was a pure blood elemental, that was after she was already pregnant with Cameron. She quickly divorced him about 6 years after Cameron was born. He died 3 years later, weird......
So of course, she wouldn't want her son around any magical creatures.
But, that never stopped him from seeing his best friend.
"Your mom, how is she?" Zeke asked.
Cameron sighed. "She still hates all elementals." Cameron stifled a laugh.
"You know, it's funny. She says she hates all elementals, but what about me? Does she hate her own son?" Zeke could tell Cameron was sad about this, whenever he talked about his mom, his whole demeanor changed. It's almost as if he was disappointed in either her or himself, Zeke hated seeing him like this.
"Well, I'll always be here for you. Guess we both have family issues....well, mainly mommy issues but you get the point." Zeke tried to cheer his friend up.
Cameron happily laughed. "Yeah, I guess. You still letting Erin push you around?" Cameron asked.
"Eh...yeah. I mean what can I do? She's right, I am the oldest right now, it's my responsibility to watch them." Zeke admitted.
"Zeke, your brother's a scientist and your sister's in highschool. I think they're old enough to watch after themselves and, even though you are the oldest right now, you still deserve a break. It'll be good for you." Cameron pushed him too, he wanted his friend to be healthy.
"I know, I know but....I-..I really don't know anymore." Zeke said.
"Then, maybe a night out on the town would do you good." Cameron prompted.
Zeke was very hesitant of even leaving the house to do anything besides grocery shopping. A night out would be tricky for Zeke, he had to make dinner and help everyone with homework.
In smaller words, a whole lotta shit
"Definitely not tonight, I'm going to very really busy." Zeke stated.
The two started their descent back downstairs.
"Busy doing what?" Cameron asked as they walked down the carpet steps.
"Uh....I-well, I have to make dinner a-and stuff...." Zeke tried not to go but he knew Cameron, and Cameron always got what he wanted. Even if he had to work for it.
(Isn't that right?)
"You're not taking care of the kids tonight, tonight we're going to have fun."
~Living Room~
Zeke and Cameron came down the stairs, chatting.
Erin was still on the couch watching TV, there was no one else. The other two dispersed into their own things.
Cameron sat at the table.
"Do you guys have something for me to eat? I skipped breakfast" Cameron politely asked.
"Cameron, Cameron, Cameron, always hungry; and expecting us to feed you like we're caregivers! Haha, OF COURSE, Zeke will make something right away." Erin rudely joked and demanded
"I– uh, thanks." Cameron sympathetically looked over at Zeke who was already going through the fridge for food to give Cameron, all he wanted was for Zeke to stand up for himself.
All he wanted.
