CHAPTER 63

1415 Words

Darkness swallows me whole. There is no sound. No ground. No sky. Only a weightless freefall that drags me downward even though there is no direction at all. The world has vanished. The earth that once held my feet has let go. The air moves around me like cold knives, cutting across my skin in long, invisible lines. I cannot breathe. I cannot stop. I cannot think of anything except her. Addison. Her name burns through the dark like a flare. My hand reaches for something that does not exist. My claws rip through empty air. My wolf thrashes inside me, frantic, trying to dig into a world that offers no surface to hold. A sound cracks through the void. Not a sound really. More like a memory slashed open. A flash of white. Bright. Clinical. Painful. A room. Smooth walls. Cold floors.
