CHAPTER ONE
CHAPTER ONE "Emma, you know you've to join the others in the stream Sarah isn't feeling well" Lyra shouted to Emma while she was still asleep. Emma, still in the depths of slumber, a faint yet distinct voice reached her ears, piercing through the veil of her dreams. It was a call to wake. As Lyra's gaze swept from across the room, her eyes fell on Emma, Lyra noticed Emma still on the bed, so she went over and opened the window. The beautiful sunrise cast a warm glow on Emma's face, and when Lyra gently tapped her, Emma snapped back to reality, with slight moans of relief and then whispered her greetings to Lyra. Lyra responded with "Get up, the others are ready to go get water from the stream for their families Sarah won't be going today she woke up with a fever" Emma's facial expression explained how disappointed she was about the news, the others could go too. I'll find my way to the stream once I'm done. They shouldn't wait for me. "Hurry Emma, there's more to do," Lyra said and left Emma to herself. Emma sat on her bed staring through the window, her morning hair a mess, her bed a mess, "haew a long day for me" she whispered to herself. Again Lyra called out to Emma "Are you still in there?" Emma groaned and replied 'Almost done here' She then rushed to fix her bed and hair. 'Emma how's Sarah your mom said she's not feeling well' Lisa asked with so much curiosity. As Emma scanned through the group of girls, her eyes darted from one face to another, trying to pinpoint who had asked about Sarah. The voices blended in a symphony of chatter, making it difficult to identify the source of the inquiry. Uncertainty gnawed at her, as she realized she couldn't recall the voice she had heard earlier. Doubt filled her words as she replied, "Um, I think Sarah took her medicine. Hopefully, she'll start feeling better soon." Deep down, Emma wished she could offer more reassurance, but the truth was, she wasn't entirely sure of Sarah's condition. The weight of her uncertainty tugged at her, as she wondered if she should have stayed behind to be there for her sister. Nonetheless, she hoped her words would bring some comfort to those who were concerned and that Sarah's recovery would indeed be swift. As she replied, her words seemed to drift into the air, unnoticed and unheard amidst the sea of conversations that engulfed the others. The girls around her were engrossed in their discussions, forming little clusters of three, their voices intertwining in animated exchanges, Emma was left alone as they were not her usual clique. As they continued on their way, Emma found herself crossing paths with a group of gentlemen. Their eyes caught sight of her, perhaps drawn to the fact that she walked alone. A man from the group with a deep, resonant tone commanding attention yet carrying a gentle cadence putting her at ease called out, "Hey!," However, Emma chose to feign ignorance, as if she hadn't heard him. Maybe she felt a bit overwhelmed or uncertain at that moment. After Jeff had called out to Emma he stood there, a newcomer in the town of Moonvale, he couldn't help but feel a sense of isolation. As the ladies walked by, oblivious to his existence, their gazes fixed ahead. It was a lonely feeling for Jeff. Emma's heart skipped a beat as she locked eyes with Jeff, his gaze penetrating her very soul. She was captivated by his luminous eyes, and his smile, which seemed to hold the secrets of a thousand sunsets. The touch of his hand sent shivers down her spine, awakening a dormant fire within her. With a mixture of astonishment and wonder, Emma finally found her voice and said, "Hey, I am Emma." Her words carried a symphony of emotions, a melodic blend of surprise and curiosity. "Nice meeting you Emma," I'm Jeff, he replied with a friendly smile. "Seems your friends aren't carrying you along in their conversations," he said, sounding curious to know why. Emma nodded and sighed. "Yeah, they aren't my friends. I took my sister's place because she isn't feeling well. I don't usually go out with them." Jeff's expression turned sympathetic. "Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your sister. Do you need company? I can join you if you want." Emma looked at him, uncertain in her eyes. She hesitated for a moment before finally asking, "You'd leave your clique to go with me?" Jeff smirked and shrugged. "Of course, Emma. They're carried away with their conversations, no one would notice my absence. We should get going then. Your family may be waiting for you." Emma smiled, grateful for his kindness. "Thank you, Jeff". As Emma and Jeff walked along the path toward the stream. Their conversation flowed effortlessly, with laughter and shared stories weaving between them like a fragile thread connecting their hearts. Emma couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort and familiarity in Jeff's presence as if they had known each other for far longer than just this moment. Emma realized that she had never truly experienced this kind of connection before. Jeff's smile effortlessly mirrored the depth of his emotions as he hung onto every word that fell from Emma's lips. In her presence, he felt a profound sense of belonging, as if each passing moment with her was a treasure to be cherished. His gaze, filled with an unwavering admiration, was a testament to the love that had bloomed within him from the very first moment he laid eyes on her. I'll see you around Emma said to Jeff on reaching home Yes, I just moved into Moonvale with my family. We'd see each other some other time. The air was filled with a delightful mix of happiness and relief, a reflection of the wonderful time they had spent together* As their eyes locked, he placed his hands on her waist pulling her closer to him, Theirodies aligned, time stood still as their lips met in a passionate kiss, and their lips moved in perfect synchronization.
