SARA “911, what’s your emergency,” I heard over the phone.   “I need help, I’ve been beaten, please send help,” I told the 911 operator. This was the worst beating that John had ever given me. 3 years with him and he beat me this time for not having dinner ready on time.   SHAUN We walked into the house where a woman told the 911 operator she had been beaten. We saw the woman and I sucked in a breath. Lying on the floor was a woman, bloody and lifeless.   We went to her. The 911 operator said her name was Sara, so I called her name. “Sara, can you hear me?” I asked.   “Yes,” she said.   “We are here to help you,” I told her.   We got her on the way to the ER. There was something about her and I wanted to find out more about her, so I spoke with my Captain and told him that I was going to stick around her and make sure she could go to a shelter if she wanted to. He looked at me funny, but didn’t question me further. I rode with her in the ambulance to the hospital.   SARA I knew I was in the hospital and they said that they were keeping me over night. John was going to be furious. I had to decide if I was going to go back to him or leave him for good. I know he wouldn’t let me go easily.   Just then there was a knock on the door and a man walked in. He was the most gorgeous man I have ever seen. His eyes were the deepest blue color, it felt like I could get lost in the depths and never find my way out. His hair was the black. He was built like a tank, bulging out of his black t-shirt, he was wearing. I realized I was starring and blushed.   “You may not remember me, but I was one of the EMTs that was at your house today. My name is Shaun.” he said. “How are you feeling?”   “I’m fine,” I told him, wondering who he was.   “I wanted to make sure that you had somewhere safe to go,” he said.   I blushed. “I don’t know, that is what I was trying to figure out,” I replied. “This is the worst, I think I finally realized that he might try to kill me if I leave, but eventually he will kill me if I stay,” I admit.   “Baby, do you want to talk about it,” he asked.   I shook my head, “I don’t want to waste anymore time on John.”   SHAUN How could I keep her safe? “Come home with me,” I told her. “I have a large house with plenty of room and you would be very safe. There is room for you and the baby. I can get you bodyguards and I have a state-of-the-art alarm system,” I continued.   She just looked at me like I had two heads. “I can’t go home with you, I don’t even know you,” she said.   “I am not asking for anything in return, just your safety, the only thing that will happen between us is what you want to happen, separate rooms and everything,” I told her.   She looked at me suspiciously. “I don’t know,”   “Here, maybe this will help,” I told her.   I took out my phone and showed it to her. Then I scrolled down until I got to the contact that said Captain. I pressed the phone and placed it on speaker. When my Captain answered, his response didn’t bode well for me.   “Are you calling to tell me that you’re actually coming in to do your job, that we pay you for, or to tell me that you’re taking the rest of the day off,” Captain said.   “Captain, you remember the girl from this morning. I am trying to convince her to move in with me, for her safety, no strings attached, but she isn’t sure she can trust me. I was thinking if you could give her your honest opinion of my character, then it might help,” I told him.   “Ok, put her on.” He said   “I’m here,” she said. “My name is Sara.”   “Sara, it is good to hear from you,” If you are curious about this man, then let me reassure you, I would leave me own daughter with him if she needed protecting. He has the means and he really does mean what he says. He would never take advantage of you. Does that help,” he asks her.   “Yes, sir, thank you,” she said.   I looked at her and she nods. “Sir, I am going to be taking the rest of the week off to make sure that Sara is all set,” I tell him.   “Will you come home with me,” I ask.   “Yes, but how are we going to get my things from my place,” she asks.   “Is there anything that can’t be replaced? I can buy new clothes, a new computer, I plan to buy you a new phone. Are there things that have sentimental value to you? The easiest thing would be to leave it and not chance your safety.” I tell her.   I watch as she goes over her property in her head. “No, there isn’t anything that couldn’t be replaced, but I don’t want to put you in a financial bind. I am already asking you to take me in until I can get on my feet and you are taking the whole week off,” she said.   I laugh, “Trust me when I say, I am not worried at all about my finances. Sometime soon I will.”   SARA He leaves for a while saying he needs to make some phone calls. While they run some tests.   When he come back in he is followed by two men, just as big as him. “Sara, this is Harry and Derek, they are your bodyguards. They will basically go everywhere you go, when I can’t be with you. I will get you a few more, so that they can rotate in a few days, but I wanted to make sure that you had some now,” he said.   I looked at them. “It’s nice to meet you both,” I said and they nodded back and said they would be right outside the door if we needed them. Then they handed something to Shaun.   When they left Shaun came back and pulled out a new phone. “This is your new phone, there are 3 numbers programmed in it. Mine, Harry’s and Derek’s.” He said.   The doctor came in and said that they are sending me home. I was lucky. I didn’t have any broken bones, but I would be sore tomorrow. They told me they were putting me on a ten-day antibiotic because some of the cuts are deep. Shaun convinced them that he could change the dressings and knew what to look for because he was a firefighter and EMT. That was the only reason they were letting my go so easily.   We went to his home the next day and he showed me to my room. The house was huge and gorgeous. My room was decorated in light purpled. I opened the first door and it was a bathroom, I squealed. I opened the second door and my mouth fell open, it was a huge closet and it was full of clothes. I looked at the clothes and they were all my size.   “Whose clothes are these,” I asked.   “They are yours; I had my personal shopper buy them yesterday,” he said. “I will leave you so you can change.” I sat on her bed, “Hey, how are you feeling,” I asked.   “Good, a little tired, but considering everything I have been through the last couple of days, that isn’t surprising,” she said.   “Why don’t you take a nap and I will figure out something for dinner,” I told her.   She smiled. “That sounds good,” she said.   I nodded and started to leave.   “Thank you,” she said.   “Your welcome,” I said and closed the door.   I went down stairs and looked in the kitchen. I decided to make spaghetti. I started browning the meat and started the water boiling. I loved cooking.   SARA I felt like I had just fallen asleep when there was a knock at the door. I opened my eyes and saw Shaun poking his head in my room. “Dinner is ready,” he said.   I nodded, “I’ll be down in a few moments,” I told him.   He nodded and left. I walked down and sat at the dining room table. “It smells wonderful,” I told him. He smiles as he brings me a big plate of spaghetti and placed what smelled like garlic bread on the table. Then he brought out his plate. “This looks even better then it smells,” I told him. He blushed.   I moaned when I took my first bite and looked up at him. He was frozen with his fork half way to his mouth. I realized that I had moaned and blushed. He chuckled and starts eating again.   After we eat, we sit down and he turns on the TV.   “So, what do you like to do,” he asked me.   I blushed. “Well, I haven’t done anything with my life since about 5 months after I met John. He didn’t like me going out and he didn’t like my friends. He wanted me to stay home and be ready for him at all time. Before that I was getting an Art teacher degree,” I told him.   “Hmm,” he said. “I told you I would explain about my finances.,” he said and took a deep breath. “I don’t have to work. I haven’t needed to since my grandparents died 10 years ago and left me everything. Overnight I was suddenly a billionaire. I love being a firefighter and EMT, so, I continue working and I donate my checks to a firefighters charity fund.” he explained.   “Wow, I guess you weren’t kidding when you said that my staying here wasn’t going to impact you,” I said.   He smiled and took my hand as the movie started. I thought over how my life had changed in the last few days. I was beaten and, in a place, where I always felt scared to sleep. Now I am in a home, with a man that wants to take care of me and keep me safe. I feel safe with him. I cuddled into him and fell asleep. The next thing I know he is carrying me to bed. I hug him around the neck. He laid me down in bed and kissed me on the cheek, “Good night, Princess,” he said and left the room.   SHAUN I fell to sleep thinking about how nice it would be if she was still in my arms. I woke with a fright when I heard Sara screaming. I ran to her room and saw she was having a nightmare. I ran to the bed and shook her awake. “Princess, wake up, you’re having a nightmare,” I said as I shook her.   Her eyes opened and I saw her fear, but it only lasted a moment and awareness replaced the fear. “You’re safe Princess, it was just a dream,” I told her and kissed her forehead. She clung to me for a long time until her breathing was back to normal. She still had my hand but she was more relaxed. I hugged her and kissed her forehead again.   “Please don’t leave me,” she said. When I started to get up.   “Are you sure, Princess,” I asked.   She squeezed my hand. “Yes, please sleep with me,” she whispered.   I smiled and closed her door, then I came to the other side of her bed and got in.  She instantly rolled over and put her head on my chest and her leg over mine. I put my hand in her hair and kissed her head. Whispering her a goodnight. I fell into a contented sleep.   In the morning I woke and wondered why I was so hard. Then I remembered that I was lying next to Sara. She sat up and blushed.     “Hi,” she said.   “Good morning,” I replied. I smiled at her to try to comfort her.   She smiled back and leans up and kissed me on the lips. She pulls away. “Thank you for last night, it meant a lot to me that you stayed with me. Even though I haven’t known you for very long, I feel very safe around you,” she says.   I smile and put my hand on her cheek. “You can share my bed every night if you would like, still no strings attached,” I told her.   She smiled and then got up and went into the bathroom. I laughed and went into my room for a quick shower also.   We spent the rest of the day lounging around the house.   SARA Over the next week we fell into a rhythm. I cooked breakfast, we cooked lunch together and he cooked dinner. The rest of the day we just lounged around the house getting to know each other. I was falling in love with him. I could see that he was a natural born hero. Just by listening to him talk. Every night I spent in his bed. We never did anything but sleep.   Tonight, I wanted to change that. I wanted to move our relationship farther. As we got into bed, I kissed him on the lips and put my hand on his d**k. He inhaled quickly. His hand going to my shoulder.   “Are you sure,” he asked.   “Yes,” I said.   He kissed me as he laid me down on my back and his hands started roaming over his body. We continued to kiss as he ran his hand under my panties and ran it over my c**t. It wasn’t long and we were ready for the next stage.   He looked at me, “I don’t think I have a condom,” he said.   “I’m on the pill, I’m ok without one if you are,” I told him. He smiled and started entering me. I moaned at the feeling of him. This was the best feeling I had ever felt. “Oh, Princess, you are incredible, I’m not going to last,” he whispered in my ear.   “Come with me then,” I told him, as I orgasmed. He came right behind me. We fell asleep content and happy.   It had been two weeks since we made love and I was so happy. The last couple of days I haven’t been feeling well. I decided to make an appointment with my doctor. While Shaun was at work. I didn’t want him to worry.   So now I am waiting at the doctor’s office for him to tell me why I am feeling the way I have been.   “Well, Sara, it appears that you are pregnant,” the Doctor said.   We discussed it all after that, I needed to figure out how I was going to tell Shaun.   SHAUN When I got home, there was a present on the table, with spaghetti. I smiled. Then I called for Sara. She didn’t answer. I went upstairs and saw that her purse was here, but she was no where to be found.   I went to my room and heard singing. I sighed. I walked into the bathroom and saw her dressing, while the bathtub was emptying.   When she turned around, she shrieked. “Don’t sneak up on my like that,” she said, batting at my arm. I laughed.   We walked downstairs and she handed me the present. I quickly opened it and got a puzzled look on my face, for inside was two pairs of baby booties, one girl and one boy.   She quickly started to speak. “Apparently when you are on antibiotics, it can make your birth control ineffective. I didn’t know that, so, I am pregnant with two-week-old babies. Surprise,” she said.     “You’re pregnant,” I said, jumping up and giving her a great big hug.   SHAUN A month later, I received a frantic call from Derek. Sara was out with them getting baby things for the nursery and she disappeared. I jumped up and yelled at the guys that I had a family emergency and left work.   Just then my phone rang.   SARA When I came too, I recognized my old basement at John’s house. I saw that he had my old phone in his hands. I guess I never took it out of my purse. That means he didn’t even look for my new one in my pocket. “John, can I have some water,” I asked. He snarled, but went upstairs to get me a water.   I maneuvered myself around and got out my phone. I dialed Shaun’s number and then started talking. “I’m in John’s Basement, hurry.” Then I heard John come back. “John why am I hear,” I asked.   “Did you think you could hide my baby from me,” he asked.   I gasped. “John, this isn’t your baby,” I told him.   He slapped me hard, “How dare you lie to me,” When I opened my eyes, I was seeing stars.   “I’m not lying,” I said and he hit me again.   I decided that I wouldn’t say anything else, because he was just going to hit me. I sat there praying that help was on its way.   I heard a knock on the door and then Shaun was coming down the stairs towards me. He untied me and hugged me. “Don’t ever scare me like that again,” he said.   I laughed. “I’ll try not to,” I said. We kissed. I could tell that everything was going to be just fine.
