Amelia POV
Kayden's jaw tightens; he holds the side of his face and turns to look at me.
"Amelia, that was too far."I pause, staring at him, at the man I had woken up to every morning and loved.
“I took it too far? You hid a whole secret from me, and I took it too far. For three years," I shout, shoving my fingers at his face.
“Three years we were together; you made me fall in love with you, you made me date you, you slept with me and told me you loved me, only for me to find out that you are the brother of that devil. You did not even tell me when we were coming! And you expect me to just shut up and do nothing?” I ask.
He sucks in a deep breath and stands up. His hands reach for my face, but I jerk back.
"Calm down, can we just go home and talk this out?" he asks.
I send him one more glare and walk past him, hitting his shoulders on the way.
The ride to the house is silent, my hands are shaking, tears are burning at the back of my eyes and I am praying.
Praying so hard not to start crying .
All the memories of what Daniel did to me.
The humiliation, the beating I received, and I almost died.
All the events come crashing in my head. I run the back of my neck; my heart becomes too heavy to even breathe.
Immediately we get to the house, I walk past him and run to the bathroom almost immediately to throw up.
Kayden walks into the bathroom and helps me lift my hair. wash my face before walking me back to the bathroom.
He takes a seat beside me, clearing his throat. “I would have told you, Amelia. I promise I wanted to tell you, but…”
But you did not defy your boss's order, right? Your boss who happens to be your brother, right?" I ask.
His eyebrows knot into a frown. "What? No. I would never work for him?“
Okay so he did not send you?”
"No".
“Okay, then he begged you to come back into my life and destroy my life, right?" I ask.
He shakes his head. “No, Amy. No. I would never work for him."
“Then explain to me who sent you into my life! Who told you I was about to be killed? Why the hell did you save me? What do you want from me? Do you want to torture me!?” I ask, pacing around the whole room.
“No?” I paused and looked at him from the end of the room.
“Do you have some kind of freak where you want to have everything your brother wants? Or what?”
“No!”
“Then explain to me why he is your brother. Why am I just finding out? Why did you keep it a secret from me for three whole years and..."
“Because I love you!” He snaps, shutting me up.I pause, looking at him. I run my hands through my hair.
“If you love someone, you trust them. You f*****g trust them. You do not lie to them. You do not tell them you are alone and basically have no family when you have a whole lot of family.
You certainly do not lie to their face! So don't come up here and act like our love is the greatest of all time and that is why you hid it from me!” He runs his hand through his hair again and again while I stay away because there is no way I am believing that crap of him loving me too much to tell me what happened. No way!
“Daniel is my youngest brother. I am the eldest. My dad died, and as I said in the office, he left me with seventy per cent of his wealth while I, Danel, had thirty.
They were not happy with it, but I have always been an open-minded person, and I welcomed Daniel well.
One day, on my thirtieth birthday after the whole celebration, he called to be happy for me.
My mum and my little sister, who was pregnant at that time, went to sleep. In my house.
For some reason, I slept too deeply. I think they drugged me because when I woke up, the house was on fire. The place where my family was was burnt too. I had to jump and run away.
The next day, just like you. The news went around that we all died in the accident, and that was when I knew I had to run."
I take a seat beside him, trying to let everything sink in. He stares at me, tears in his eyes,
"You know who I ran to?” He asks.
I shake my head
"No".
“Your grandmother. She took me in. She actually saw me almost dead on the street and saved me.
She paid my hospital bill; she did everything she could to make sure that I was safe.
I got to know about you from there, the granddaughter who was studying abroad. And”, he paused, a sad smile on his face.
“I fell for you, Amelia. Even though pictures. I had already made up my mind that when you came, I would date you, make you fall in love with me, and we would get married.
But life had other plans."My mouth hung open, no words coming outside.
Tears welled up in my eyes. “So you are the one she talked about. The son she had,' I asked, my voice breaking.
“Yes,” he whispered, taking my hands.Everything makes sense now.
My grandmother always talked about a son that she had.
God decided to give her a child after she lost my parents.
And the worst thing was that I thought she was joking. She has Alzheimer's, so I thought she was confusing someone for her child.
“You are the Kayden she talked about?” I asked, tears rolling down my face.
“You… you were real. I… I thought she was lying? I… I even laughed about it."
My grandmother's face flooded my head: her laugh, her smile.
. The way she talks about Kayden.
She once said, "Hurry up, Amelia. Stop sulking and come back home. You have a big brother who would take care of you.
"Yeah, I know.
She complained to me. You came back and met Daniel.
You fell head over heels with him, and I rescued him.
Not because I hated you, but I hated the fact that you were with him.
With a murder. I… I told her about the whole incident.
I told her about the whole issue, and she gathered evidence.
She walked into Daniel's office and told him, "Leave you alone, Amelia."
By the time he was done talking, I had developed a strong headache.
It was all too heavy for me to carry. It sounded like some scattered information that refused to make sense to me no matter how hard I tried.
“That same night your mother died,” he announced.
My body went cold. Ice cold. I turned to him.
"What do you mean?” I asked.
He remained silent, tears filling his eyes. “You know what I mean, Amelia. You know what I mean."I shook my head , my whole body trembling.
“No. That is a lie. He would never do that."
He heaved a sigh. “I could not tell you, Amelia. If I did, you would leave me, and… I could not just imagine you slipping from my hands moments after I had gotten you. That's why I hid it."
“So you are saying Daniel killed my grandmother just to have me and my trust fund and the inheritance." He shrugged.
“Daniel has a good spot at heart and an evil one too. In your case he was not the one. There were two people, but I am so sure it was one person." He paused, running his hands through his hair.
“Who?” I asked.
"Who killed her?"
“Daniel's mother. The other person is whom I came back to London to look for."
