Amelia POV “Daniel’s mother? You mean the woman who threw me away? She was the one who killed my grandma?” I asked, my voice shaking. He nodded slowly, "Yes. She did. I am so sure, but she has someone with her, and I don't know what that is."I drew closer and went to him. "Who do you think this is? Who killed her? Do you think it is Daniel? Or is it Ashley? Who?” I asked. He shook his head. “I don't know, but what I know is that I love you, Amelia. I have always loved you even before Daniel came into the picture. I waited nine years, Amy, practically ten years because we only started dating a year after the incident. So I waited ten good years for you. That was why I was scared to tell you," he whispered, his eyes soft, his thumb caressing my cheeks. “You know I would never hurt you, Amelia. This is something I vow to my last day on earth." “But you would have told me. You would have said anything at all." He sucked in a deep breath and looked at me, staring at me. “Would you have loved me? Would you have loved me if you knew?” He asked. I remained silent. The answer was so clear. It would have never crossed my mind to do so. I would have never allowed myself to love him. Never. “No,” I whispered. “I would have hated you instead” "That's the main reason why I decided to leave that detail out till I was sure you were mine, you had fallen in love with the real me, and there was no going back."He drew closer bringing my head to rest on his chest. At first, I was still letting all the information sink in. Tears started flowing beyond my control, and before I could control myself, I found myself soaked in tears. Memories kept on rushing through my head. My grandmother had died three weeks after our wedding. And I had signed everything to him without a doubt when he said he needed money. So they killed her. “They killed my nana. They killed her” "It will be fine," Kayden kept on whispering, caressing my hair and laying kisses on it minute after minute. “They would pay for this."Daniel's mother never liked me. She never did.She once told Daniel that he had settled for less. Even if I had money, Ashley was more of a good material than me. She filed every Forbes family requirement. She was a model, she had money and she could do a whole lot of things for the company. I never did anything go wrong. She abandoned the food I cooked. She insulted me at the slightest moment possible. Made me feel so little of myself. And I stayed.I stained Daniel. Because I loved him and I thought that he loved me too, only for me to discover that it was all a game to him. She must pay. Whoever did this would pay dearly for it. I would put them in the fire and watch them being born. I would do everything and anything I could to eliminate them. I cleaned up my tears and looked at Kayden. “And you are sure that this is the only secret that you are hiding?” I asked. “Yes, I swear on my life."I smiled. Good. For the first time in my life, I was comfortable with the idea of killing someone. Of having someone die. “We would fight them together." I whispered, taking his hands, a smile on my face. “Yeah, together, but first you would need to make sure you are in charge of the company. Stay away from Daniel, Amelia; I don't like the way he was looking at you in the room today. Stay clear of him. "Okay?" he asked. I nodded slowly. "Yes. If I am with him, best believe that it would be to torture him."My mind flashed back to the saying; he stared at me today. How sick he looked. Was there any possibility that he killed my grandmother? But Kayden said he was not sure it was Daniel. Did Ashley have a connection with this? Did Daniel ever love me? Or was this all just an act to get my money? Or did his mum put him up to this? No. If his mum did, she would have told me.I took a glance at Kayden. My husband and I just discovered it.The one who is claimed to have a tech company and yet has 5 yachts and two private jets. There was something also nosy about him.It was like he had so many layers that he was hiding from me, and it would take me a long time to get to know him. His phone rang, disrupting us. He stood up and walked out of the room, placing a kiss on my head before he left the room. He never answered a call with me inside the room. Sometimes he spoke Italian. A language he claimed he learned because his business partners are Italian .But how did he learn it? Because he is American. Fully American. Something was not right with everything and everyone around me. I did not even know who to trust. What if he had lied to me just to get my trust? What if he were worse than Daniel? So many thoughts crossed my mind. No. I would not let them use me again.Never.I reached out for my phone and called Ivan; he was a long-time friend. Not a friend to me but to my mum.Long before she died .He looked just like someone who would make anyone shake with fear. I could remember clearly when my dad shouted at my mum and they had a huge His phone ran twice before he finally picked up. “Hello Ivan. It's me, Amelia." He was silent for a while. Not saying anything. Then he spoke, his voice shaking. “Theresa’s daughter, right?” He asked. “Yes, it's me” "I thought you died. The news said that…. OHHH, thank God you are alive. Where are you now? Can we meet up? I just want to see my sweet Amelia," I smiled. “Uncle, I will meet you sooner rather than later. But I need a favourite for you. I need you to dig up something for me," I whispered. “Anything. I would do anything for you." I sucked in a deep breath, making sure that Kayden was far away. “I want you to look into the whole Forbes family tree. The whole family. All those who died, and the owls that are alive. If you can, I need all their dark secrets, all their lies, and all the family scandals, particularly who Kayden is and who Daniel's mother is."He remained silent. "Why? I hope you are not getting yourself into the family drama again." He asked. I shook my head. “No, Uncle, I will explain everything when I see you."He nodded. “Fine. Consider it done." Immediately I hung up, Kayden walked inside, a frown on his face. “Is everything okay?” I asked. “Yes. It's just business," he replied, his frown completely replaced with a smile. "Who were you talking to?” He asked. "No one," I lied.
