Kayla
“I heard Prince Leonard is here.”
“Goddess, he’s so handsome.”
“I heard he came with a girl.”
“That doesn’t surprise me. He changes girls every other day. But what really bothers me is… the girl’s an omega.”
“I can’t believe he’s sleeping with an omega.”
The murmurs spread like wildfire among the workers in the room. None of them seemed to realize that I was the girl they were whispering about.
Luca, on the other hand, acted like he didn’t hear a single word. He dove straight into work, completely focused.
The next hour was a whirlwind of shopping. It was hard at first getting my size right wasn’t easy but Luca clearly knew what he was doing. He made it look effortless. Even when I said I was fine with just a few outfits, he ignored me and kept going until he felt it was enough.
After picking out several dresses, one of Luca’s assistants helped me change into one of them. I couldn’t believe the reflection staring back at me. The dress hugged my body perfectly, elegant yet simple.
Luca nodded in approval, clearly proud of his work. He then told the salesgirls to pack up all the dresses I had tried on, along with the few shoes he’d chosen himself.
“Let’s go,” Luca said gently.
I hesitated. A strange feeling settled in my chest, like I owed Prince Leonard something now. I didn’t know why it bothered me so much. Maybe because I hated the feeling of being indebted to him.
After a moment of debating with myself, I took a deep breath and stepped out of the room, following Luca toward the front.
When Prince Leonard saw me, he gave me a small smile. Without a word, he paid for everything, then turned and walked toward the car. I followed quietly.
“You look beautiful,” he said at last, after giving me a slow, lingering look.
“You don’t need to flatter me,” I replied, avoiding his eyes. “But… Thank you. For what you did back there. And for the dress.”
“It’s nothing,” he said. “But I’m curious, would you have let them bully you like that if I hadn’t shown up?”
“Yes,” I replied quietly. “I can’t fight back… even if I want to.”
He didn’t respond. Just let out a low hum and fell silent. As we neared campus, I asked him to drop me off about a mile from my dorm. I didn’t want to draw any more attention to myself. Thankfully, he didn’t question it, he simply pulled over and let me out.
I walked quickly, my eyes scanning my surroundings. Within minutes, I reached the dorm entrance but a rough hand suddenly yanked me back.
I nearly screamed, until I saw his face.
Aiden.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” he growled, his hand tightening around my throat, his eyes bloodshot with rage.
I gasped and grabbed at his wrist, struggling to breathe. I twisted, kicked, fought but he was too strong.
“How dare you go around sleeping with Leonard?” Aiden spat, his voice shaking with rage.
“I—I didn’t sleep with him,” I stammered, barely able to get the words out.
“You lying b***h!” he roared. “You think I don’t know? Leonard doesn’t stand up for anyone unless he’s f*****g them!”
His grip around my throat tightened, and panic flooded my chest. I couldn’t breathe. I clawed at his hand, desperate.
“P—please…” I choked out, my voice cracking as tears burned in my eyes.
But Aiden wasn’t done.
He leaned in closer, his breath hot and bitter against my skin, eyes glowing with hate.
“You’re nothing but a pathetic omega slut,” he hissed. “Crawling into beds, hoping someone powerful will want you. You really think Leonard cares? He’s using you. Just like I did. You’re a toy to him, same way you were to me.
My heart splintered.
“I was bored. That’s the only reason I touched you. Do you know how disgusting I felt every time I had to look at you?” His lips curled into a sneer. “You were desperate. Easy. You are nothing but trash.”
Tears spilled freely now, but I didn’t cry out. I just stared at him, shocked, shattered.
“Please, you are hurting me.”
“You should be grateful I even looked your way,” he spat. “And now you think you can parade around like some Luna because Leonard felt sorry for you? You make me sick.”
His words were knives, each one sharper than the last.
“No one will ever love you, Kayla. No one. They’ll f**k you, maybe. But love? Respect? You’ll never have that. You’re just a pretty little punching bag in heat.”
I flinched like he’d hit me, but he didn’t stop.
“They’ll chew you up and spit you out, because in the end, an omega like you is good for one thing—being used.”
I tried to move, I tried to get away. But his hand came down again, shoving me back against the wall. My head hit hard. Pain exploded through my skull. I saw stars.
“You think Leonard will protect you?” he growled. “He’ll get bored of you. They all do. Omegas are good for f*****g and nothing else.”
I could barely speak. Aiden’s grip on my neck was so tight I felt like I was going to pass out, until Sadie grabbed him and pulled him off me.
I fell to the ground, coughing hard, trying to breathe. My chest burned. Sadie knelt beside me, holding me gently.
“You crazy bastard! Were you trying to kill her?” she shouted.
“Stay out of it, Sadie! This isn’t your business!” Aiden growled, stepping forward again like he was going to grab me.
Sadie stood up quickly and blocked him.
“You’ll have to go through me first,” she said. “You broke her heart already. Now you want to hurt her more?”
“Move out of my way. Now,” Aiden said, his voice low and angry.
“And if I don’t?” Sadie asked, standing her ground.
“As your Alpha, I’m telling you to move!”
Sadie stared straight at him. “You’re not my Alpha. Your father is. So I don’t have to listen to you. And you’re not going to touch her again.”
Aiden’s jaw clenched. He looked like he was about to explode, and I felt a surge of fear for Sadie. She was strong and knew how to fight, but against Aiden, she didn’t stand a chance. He would leave her hurt, maybe worse.
But to my surprise, he didn’t attack. He held himself back, breathing hard through his nose, then turned around and walked away without another word.
I didn’t know what scared me more, his anger, or the fact that he let it go so easily.
