Chapter 4 The New Boss Is Here

1484 Words
Five days later, Ableson called Ruben Andrade, his secretary, to the office after the morning meeting. "What have you found out about Camilla so far?" Ableson looked out of the floor-to-ceiling window at Harrisburg's magnificent view, his tall, straight figure casting an oppressive silhouette. "Sorry... Mr. Seymour, I'm giving it my best shot, but so far I haven't made any progress." Ruben wiped his sweat nervously. "And after Mrs. Seymour left that night, she didn't return to the nursing home where she had worked. I even went to Los Angeles, where she is from. Her address is fake. There is no one there from the Nyerere family." "The address is fake?" Ableson turned around abruptly, his eyes dark and oppressive. "Yes. I went to the local police station to ask around, but they didn't have her profile there." After all, Ruben had been addressing Belinda as Mrs. Seymour for three years, and he was used to it. Ableson's mind buzzed. He thought, what kind of woman did I marry? Is she a spy? "She left with Edwin that night. What about him? No clues either?" "In fact, Mr. Seymour, if Mr. Purcell is determined to keep her as his secret mistress, I don't think there's much we can do about it..." The words "secret mistress" made Ableson's eyebrows twitch fiercely, and his dark eyes surged with anger. "Edwin looks like a decent man. How could he pull off such a nasty thing? How could he steal my wife from me?" "Well... I don't think that's appropriate... After all, you and Mrs. Seymour have signed the divorce papers already..." Ableson glared at Ruben sharply, and the latter was so startled that he couldn't catch his breath and coughed. The scene of Edwin protecting Camilla that night was still vivid in Ableson's mind, and he saw the affection in Edwin's eyes clearly. Somehow, Ableson was upset. In his eyes, Camilla was always dull and unromantic. Since when did she become so attractive that Edwin, who had always been known for being heartless, became her Prince Charming? Back then, she said to him, "Ableson, can we ... not divorce?" She said, "Because ... I love you!" "Liar!" Ableson narrowed his eyes, his entire body exuding a cold chill. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. The angrier he was, the more he thought about it! Suddenly, his phone on the desk vibrated. Ableson collected his thoughts. Seeing that it was Nellie, he hurriedly picked the phone up. "Nellie, what's wrong?" "Ableson, I'm in the Seymour Group's lobby. Can you come down and pick me up? I brought you some snacks I made myself. I wanted you to try it while they are still fresh." Nellie's voice came from the phone, which was so soft and sweet that it made Ruben numb. "Are you downstairs now?" Ableson frowned. "Yes, Ableson, what's wrong? Don't you want to see me?" Nellie asked delicately. "Nonsense. I'll ask Ruben to take you upstairs." After hanging up the phone, Ableson turned gloomy. He thought, Camilla and I are still in the process of divorcing, and we haven't made it public. Now that Nellie comes to me just like this, it's going to cause a lot of trouble. I'm not afraid of trouble. It's just... Then his phone vibrated again. Ableson looked down at the phone screen, and he was instantly nervous. "Grandpa." "You brat! What did I say to you before? Have you forgotten?" Ogden scolded loudly, "Didn't I tell you that since you married Camilla already, you were not allowed to have anything to do with that woman from the Ross family? "You went back on your words, and she is now in the company! I don't care if you want to humiliate yourself. But what about Camilla? Have you ever looked out for her? Have you ever cared that she might be embarrassed? Get your ass over here! ... In the meeting room, the atmosphere was somber. With his walking stick, Ogden sat steadily while supported by his secretary and Keaton. Ogden's face was utterly sullen. Ableson stood straight in front of them, while Nellie was blocked outside. In Ogden's eyes, Nellie was a home wrecker, and she didn't deserve to see his face. "Tell me! What's going on with you and that woman?" Ogden slammed his walking stick on the ground. "Dad, calm down..." Keaton hurriedly patted Ogden's back and glared at Ableson. "Grandpa, the three years are up." Ableson's voice was hoarse as he said word by word, "You promised me that I only needed to marry Camilla for three years. After that, I could do whatever I wanted, including divorcing her." Ogden's face turned pale, as if he had been struck by lightning. For the past three years, accompanied by Camilla, he had been happy every day. Time passed quickly, and before he realized it, the period was up in the blink of an eye. "Now I have chosen to end my marriage with Camilla and be with the woman I truly love. You should not have any objections. Camilla has already signed the divorce papers, and we will go through the rest of the procedures someday," Ableson said, parting his lips slightly, indifferent and emotionless. "What? You have already divorced?" Ogden was furious, and when he got up, his vision went black, and he almost fell. Ableson rushed up to support Ogden only to be pushed away. "Dad, they haven't gone through all the procedures yet. They've just signed the papers. You've had a stroke before, so you mustn't get excited!" Keaton was afraid that Ogden would have a relapse, so he hurriedly comforted Ogden. "I'm so unlucky! Our family is so unlucky! I'm not satisfied with my daughter-in-law, and why can't I have a satisfying granddaughter-in-law?" Ableson was frozen in situ and did not know what to do. Keaton got implicated as well. "I want Camilla! Go and get Camilla back! I can't eat or sleep without Camilla by my side. I don't want anyone else. I want Camilla to be the granddaughter-in-law of our family!" Though Ogden was an aged man, he threw a tantrum like a kid. "Ableson, what are you waiting for? Call Camilla and bring her here!" Keaton urged anxiously. "Grandpa, what you are doing is meaningless. Even if I call her back to accompany you now, my marriage to her is at an end, and we will never be together again." Ableson thought, I might as well have a clean break with her. Instead of stalling, I should just cut her off for good. Time will make everything go away. "Ah!" Ogden's whole body trembled, and he leaned back stiffly. Seeing that, Ableson and Keaton were shocked. The scene went chaotic as they were busy with calling, getting the doctor here, finding medicine for Ogden, and so on. Ableson had no choice but to grit his teeth and call Camilla. Yet things were unexpected. "The number you dialed does not exist." Camilla went missing and canceled her phone number. "Damn it!" Ableson was so angry that his eyes turned red, and he clenched his fists. ... Meanwhile, all the higher-ups were gathering in front of KS World Hotel. They were waiting for their new leader. "I hear that the general manager who is coming today is a young woman." "Tsk! I don't think she can make a change. The previous four male general managers all failed to reverse the hotel's situation. They either transferred to somewhere else or resigned. How can she make a difference? Are you kidding me?" "I heard that she is Mr. Purcell's daughter..." "Mr. Purcell has more than one wife. I guess she is an unfavored illegitimate daughter. If she was doted on by Mr. Purcell, why would he send her to clean up the mess here?" Everyone snickered. "She is here! The new boss is here!" A top Rolls-Royce steadily stopped in front of the hotel's entrance, followed by several top-level Maybach. The scene was quite spectacular. When everyone saw the license plate EPA9999, they instantly fell silent and held their breath. The car door opened, and the first thing they saw was a pair of super high-heels with a black top and red bottom, which were very swagger. The next second, a stunning beauty with a graceful figure, black scattering hair, and a beautiful face walked out of the car leisurely. Her gaze was sharp and aggressive, making people not dare to look at her. "Greetings, everyone. "I am your new general manager, but I am not an illegitimate daughter. I am sorry to disappoint you," Belinda smiled, her rosy lips breath-taking. Hearing that, those who had been discussing were so scared that they were sweating. A few minutes ago, Belinda was in the car. Back then, she had already hacked the two surveillance cameras at the hotel's entrance with her laptop.
