“And what exactly do you want me to do here, Black?” Killian was pissed. No, not pissed. He was absolutely f*****g enraged. Red tinged his vision as he resisted the urge to rip everyone in the room into pieces. So, he smiled menancingly at the elders, his black eyes wide and unstable. “Your f*****g job. Punish that f*****g mutt for nearly breaking the arm of a female in the claim. You say you are hell-bent on protecting them this year, yet I saw no one move to her aid except myself.” Elder Beau sighed, frowning. “It was an act of dominance, Alpha— you can’t tell me you didn’t force one on her yourself tonight. Power dynamics will happen through out this process—“ Killian’s fist slammed down on the desk in front of him with brute force, cracking the wood. “Don’t for a moment forget who you are speaking to, Beau. I spared your life when I never should have— and mercy isn’t something I give.” Beau’s eyes flashed around the room at all of the guards, and he cleared his throat. “Give us a moment, gentleman, to speak privately.” The guards nodded, silently filing out of the room. Finally, the pair were alone in Beau’s office, and the elder was sweating bullets. “Alpha, you know what power I do and don’t have. Mate or not, I cannot pull the girl from the claim. It goes against everything we practice.” Killian’s nostrils flared. “Then you will see to it that she leaves with me, Beau— or so help me, I’ll rip your family to shreds. All it would take is one phone call. Or are you forgetting you committed treason?” “I’ll do what I can, Killian, but I can’t make any promises. If they mark her before you—“ “I’m not worried about in the arena, you f*****g i***t,” Killian snarled. “I can outmatch any alpha here. But you will protect her in the meantime. You will keep her isolated, away from the others—“ “All that’s going to do is set off alarms with the other claimants,” Beau argued. “Why do you care? I thought you intended for her to solely be used for an heir for Blood Moon.” Killian bristled. “What I intend for her is none of your business. Are you forgetting that I’m the reason for the seat you hold on the council, Beau?” “What do you want from me, Killian?” The Elder’s fist came down on the desk, angry and unstable. “What do you want me to do? You know what is in my realm of control and what isn’t. I can’t meddle with the Claim.” Killian lost it. Before he could stop himself, he had cleared the desk between them, and he had wrapped his large hand around Elder Beau’s neck. The older man gagged as he tried to suck in air, his face turning red. Killian brought his mouth to the elder’s ear. “Catherine Conri is mine,” he growled. “The goddess- the goddess you claim to be serving so devotedly- has destined her to me. If a single hair on her head is harmed, I will rip your f*****g balls off and wear them like a necklace. You isolate her, you keep her under lock and key. Not one soul touches her but me. Are we clear, Elder? Or do I need to get more creative here in getting my point across?” Elder Beau nodded, and Killian released his deadly grip on his throat. “I know what happens to women here behind closed doors, Beau, and I won’t have it happening to mine. See to it that you do your job, or I won’t hesitate to act.” Beau rubbed his throat. “I’ll up her security detail,” he rasped out. “The rest is up to you, Killian. I can’t help you in the arena.” Killian laughed. “Just be ready to clean up the corpses.” “Her father won’t hesitate to attack your pack for this, Killian. She’s his only daughter.” “I’ll handle Alpha Conri. I want the code to her dormitory.” Beau’s mouth fell open. “You’ll never get through the guards, Alpha Black. They’ll notify the other elders.” Killian snorted. “They’ll never even see me. Get me that code. And remember our bargain. She stays untouched, and you keep your nuts.”
