Arielle's POv
"Rot in hell slut!" The soldier swore at me as he slammed my body onto the damp dungeon floor
"No, please!"
"Let me out!"
I winced in pain.
I curled up, hugging my knees as I suppressed the pain that hit my chest cavity. The betrayal and humiliation by the man I loved so much. The man to whom I had given everything I had, my soul, my heart, and my body.
The portrayal of his cold and stern face and how he looked at me just now made me unable to believe this was real. In my chaotic and half-insane state, I hope this is just a dream, and when I wake up later, all these nightmares will be over
"Please open the door!"
"I'm innocent!
"Open the door!" I kept hitting the padlocked iron bars. I didn't care that my hands were hurting from clashing with the metal.
"Hey! Can't you shut up!" All of a sudden, a voice came startling me. I looked around me, including at some of the iron bars before me. But I couldn't see anything because of the lack of light.
"Why are you so noisy!" The voice sounded annoyed.
"Who's there?" I tried to widen my eyes and then narrow them again to adjust my vision to the dark dungeon room.
"Can't you shut your fuckin mouth up? You're disturbing my nap!" The voice screeched.
"Who are you? Where are you? Why can't I see you?" I repeatedly asked while hiding my fear, unconsciously stepping back step by step. A few seconds later, I heard a deep, heavy laugh. I felt goosebumps on my skin, and I could sense danger just from hearing the sound.
A figure or something moved in the darkness, in the cell, before me. Something massive and black. Its eyes were red, horrible, and I moved backward, further and further.
"W-who are you?
"You're scared, aren't you?" The creature chuckled, then it transformed in just seconds into a young man with gray eyes.
"Don't be afraid. I won't eat you,' he muttered. Now he was right behind the bars, his fingers curled, holding the metal in front of him.
"I won't be able to eat you because of this, he held up one of his silver-chained hands and shackled his feet
"Is that a silver chain?" I'm still not sure if what's shackling him was silver
I can't imagine how strong he is. Even he can still transform into a wolf while bound by silver chains.
"How clever!" He burst out laughing
"Why did they lock you up here?"
"Can you see this?" He showed me the tattoo of a red-eyed eagle on his arm.
"Y-you're part of them? The rogues....
"So clever...
OMoon Shines
"Do you want to go with me?"
"Go with you?"
That's not possible. In a few hours, Ill be executed."
"Together with my baby." I touch my still-flat stomach
"You have a long way to go, and you wont die." He said, reassuring me.
However, before I could answer, I heard someone shout
"'Secure the prisoners! Make sure they don't escape!"
"Damn! Someone seems to have broken in here, sir!" I heard the warders' voices echoing through the dark hallway of the dungeon.
I grimaced as I held my suddenly cramping stomach. The sound of what seemed to be many footsteps came closer. The sound of wolves howling and the sound of swords clashing echoed.
What the hell is going on here?
I don't know who these people are, but I have to admit, they're pretty good and strong for making it into this dungeon that powerful Betas so heavily guard.
Suddenly one of them transformed back into a human. The man was well-built; his large, broad chest was bare. His other hand held a sword that was still dripping with blood.
"Harriet!" The man, who had a dark yet mesmerizing aura, shouted
"Let's get out of this horrible place! Harriet-
"I'm here, Buddy!" the man in front of my cell replied.
Oh, so his name is Harriet, I muttered to myself.
The man carrying the sword smile, "Thank goodness you're still alive.."
With one free hand raised, he melted the silver lock on Harriet's cell. Then broke the shackles on Harriet's feet and hands in seconds.
"Let's go!" Harriet looked happy, then he stopped and looked at me.
"W-wait, I guess I forgot something..." Harriet paused,
He seemed to have remembered his promise to take me to escape from this place.
"Denv, I don't think there's any harm in taking the girl with us..." Harriet glanced at me.
"Who is she?"
Harriet came forward and whispered to the man who had a substantial magnetic field on his body, which made me- somehow -attracted to something invisible inside him
He turned his head and looked at me intensely, then his chest seemed to expand, and his shoulders lifted, "Okay, let's take her." He opened my cell door the same way when he opened Harriet's cell.
"Are you strong enough to walk alone?" He asked coldiy in a flat tone.
"I can... "I stammered.
But instead, he pulled my arm forcefully. Then lifted my body and carried me bridal style.
"Please, put me down!" I screamed while struggling to release the tight grip of the man whose eyes were dark as the night sky. The man continued to carry my body regardless of my pleas.
"Shut up!"
"We have to hurry. Your slow movements could get us caught!" he snapped.
"Where are you taking me?" We sprinted down the dark hallway of the dungeon, heading towards a door at the end-a wooden door with many bars.
"That's the way out!"
"Harriet, break the door!"
The man quickly, using only one hand, punched the door, and it shattered into pieces.
"Hold on!" he ordered just before he darted into the tunnel that connected the dungeon to the burial area for executed prisoners.
"Is it safe?" He paused and asked the man behind us.
Harriet looked behind her, "You go with her. And let me handle them."
"Are you sure??"
The gray-eyed man nodded confidently
"Come down, he said and lowered me carefully to the ground.
"Are you going to kill me?"
I don't know why that stupid question just slipped from my lips.
"You i***t, if I wanted to kill you, why would I bother lifting your pig-like body here?"
"Why don't I just kill you in there? Huh?"
He's right, I thought.
"I came to save you, Arielle" A heavy voice sounded from his mouth. I was surprised, not because of his voice, but because of his statement.
Save? What does he mean? And what did he save me for?
"Hold on. I'll take you to the safest place. The man pulled my body until I spontaneously hugged him tightly. The man led me into the forest with quick, darting movements. In just one blink of an eye, I was already at the other end of the woods. And just seconds later, I was far away from Zemrith's territory.
There, at the edge of the forest that separated Zemrith's territory from the world my mother told me was a world occupied by humans, were a few men who welcomed us.
"Young master, where is Harriet? One immediately approached us as he lowered me from his burly arms.
"He's in the back, facing King Ed's Beta army.
"Then who is she?" The white-haired man looked at me with his round eyes.
"Get her in the car. You have to hurry."
"So, you're saying that we leave Harriet here?"
"Of course not, Ill stay here waiting for Harriet, and you take her to our place."
I looked alternately at the two men who were talking.
"Arielle, this is Santos. He'll take you out of here." The man who hadn't even introduced himself to me pointed to the young white-haired man.
"Young lady, please come with me."
I didn't immediately follow their words, "Why should I come with you?
"Do you want to die?" The man replied harshly.
"No, of course not!" I Looked down.
"It's good to know you still have the will to live."
Without further prompting, I followed Santos to the black car parked near where we were standing.
"Please get in," Santos opened the car door for me and closed it again.
The black car drove off, leaving the border behind slowly,. I rested my back on the seat with mixed feelings, between worry, fear, and doubt.
I felt I had no choice but to follow these strangers. Isnt this better than me being beheaded by King Edward's Beta executioners?
