Chapter Ten
We walked all the way to the tattoo shop, I couldn’t help but remember the first birthday I came here. How excited and nervous and scared I was, but how much I loved my tattoo after wards. It became a sort of tradition to go back to Candy Ink on my birthday every year.
When I was Four teen, Matt paid for me to have my lip pierced.
When I was Fifteen, Angel paid for me to have a tattoo of a wolf, my favourite animal, On my shoulder.
When i was Six teen, Kip paid for me to get my septum pierced.
..and when I was seven teen, Benny paid for me to get 6 little butterflies on my side, symbolizing each other the guys and myself. I thought it was cute.
Each year, One of them got me a tattoo or piercing as my present, and every year, what ever it was was by far my favourite gift that year. Of course, returning home every time, my parents flipped their lid, I successfully managed to hide a few of them, but eventually, they found out.
What could they do? I had already had that done.
‘Right then, Who’s paying for the present this year?’ Angel asked, breaking the silence and snapping me out of my memories.
‘I want to pay for myself’. I told them, they all looked over. ‘I already know what I want’.
‘What’s that?’ I smiled to myself.
‘You’ll see’.
Walking in to the shop, Lea looked up and smiled instantly when she saw us. Opening her arms, she walked around the counter and wrapped me in a tight hug.
‘I was wondering when you were coming in’.
‘How could we not Lee lee’. Pulling out of the cuddle, she looked up at Zane.
‘Hey, stranger’. He grinned and leaned forward, kissing her cheek.
‘Hey yourself’. Some childish sniggling from the other guys cooled them off. I know they had dated a couple of times, but never ended on bad terms. Honestly, I just wish they would realise they loved each other and get together properly.
‘So, what are we doing today?’ The guys shrugged, they had no idea.
‘Well, I thought it would be a cute idea to get the guy’s names tattooed on me… just another constant reminder that they will always be with me, even when I’m gone’.
‘Gone?’ Lea asked, confused.
‘She’s moving’. It was Zane who spoke up first. ‘I’ll explain later’.
The whole mood had gotten sombre and it was pretty lame. I clapped my hands loudly, snapping every one out of their sadness trance.
‘Right, tattoo time!’. I walked over to the counter and grabbed one of the Candy Ink note books and a few pencils. Passing one to each of the guys along with a piece of paper. ‘Write your names down’. They all looked at me, confused.
‘Why?’
‘It's easy for Lea to just write them as she’s tattooing, but it would mean more if it's you’re actual hand writing, Don’t you think?’ As soon as I explained, they all instantly wrote their names down and passed them over to Lea.
‘Right then, Come through Emma’ I followed her through to the studio and sat down in the chair. The guys came in and took their usual seats too. ‘Where are we doing this?’ I looked up at my friends.
‘They can choose. Put your names where ever you want to’.
Kip stepped forward first and pointed to my chest, Most exactly above my heart.
‘I want my name there’. I smiled at him as Lea got about doing her thing, It hurt, but it was so, so worth it. Next, Matt.
‘There’. He pointed to my shoulder, and another 10 minutes later, his signature was on my body. After him, Was Angel, He chose my Hip, then Zane chose my wrist near my date tattoo.
Lastly, benny stepped forward for his turn. He sank to his knees and started rolling up the leg of my jeans, pushing it over my knee.
‘There. I want my name there’. I was confused, why my knee?! ‘The first day I met you, you hurt this knee. You crying alerted me to you... It's the day our friendship began. So, I want my name there’. That was one of the sweetest things I’ve ever heard. That was so cute!
Lea finished the final tattoo and wrapped me up. I was done, It was in that second it hit me, This was probably the last birthday tattoo tradition I was going to have with the guys. I swallowed the lump in my throat I fought back the tears. No. Not today. Not now.
I was going to enjoy the short amount of time I had left with the guys. End of story…
