CH.13- Just a Theory

1542 Words
Lucilia immediately hides under her blanket after meeting eye to eye with the creature. Her instincts were telling her that the beast has something dangerous in mind. The sound of his grandfather's shotgun continued to fire loudly without hitting anything. “Clint! I'm going to help him.” Marcus asked as Clint continued to eat his dinner. “Why are you so calm!” Yelled Marcus to Clint. “Nothing, in particular, Charles said he'll handle it. So let him, Marcus. I don't have to get involved with this. But let me ask you this, Marcus. Should you also join and kill whatever that thing is?” Marcus, without any hesitation, answered, “Of course! You're the one who told me about the...” Marcus immediately stopped his sentence after remembering that someone else was with them. However, Marcus clenched his fist and reached for his sword, and dashed forward the exit. Lucilia's grandmother tries to stop Marcus, but because of her old age problems, she was unable to do that. “Clint! Stop your son! He'll put himself in danger!” “Don't worry, madame, my son can handle it.” The woman did not like what Clint spoke, so she took the pie that he was eating. “What kind of father are you? Not stopping your son from doing dangerous things?” “My delicious pie...” “You can't have it unless you become a better father.” “But I'm his stepfather…” “No excuses, mister Clint!” Clint stuttered after getting yelled at by Lucilia's grandmother. “I was looking forward to that pie.” Marcus searched for the creature that Charles was looking for. However, he saw the creature standing behind Charles, who was firing in different directions. The creature walked towards Charles; Marcus immediately rushed towards Charles's direction and yelled. “He's behind you, Charles!” “What!? Marcus!?” Charles yelled out and immediately turned around to face Marcus, who screamed from behind. However, as Charles turns around, he saw a terrifying creature with its eyes glowing red in the darkness shorter than him. Charles immediately aims the shotgun at the creature. However, *Click* his gun already run out of bullets. The creature then lunged itself towards Charles. Gladly Charles blocks the creature's attack with his shotgun. The foul smell of its mouth reached Charles's nose, causing him to be disgusted. The sharp teeth of the beast were visible to Charles's eyes. Its slithery tongue even licked Charles. Charles struggled with the monster and tried to kick it. But it was fruitless as the creature was not budging—even a single bit. “Stay away from him, you Freak!” *Swoosh* “Gyaaaaaaaaawwwrrr!” The creature cried as Marcus s***h it with his sword. However, the damage was minimal as the spike and its quill-like back skin protected it from Marcus's attack. But the creature still felt the pain caused by Marcus. So it jumped away from Charles and attacked Marcus. However, the beast did not expect that Marcus was ready to swing his sword. *Swoosh!* The creature received a frontal s***h from Marcus's sword, which splattered its blood to Marcus's sword and his clothes. The creature jumps away and runs away to the darkness. Marcus tried to chase after him but was stopped by Clint, who just grabbed his shoulder. “Let it go, Marcus, that thing is more dangerous when injured. Also, it's headed to the forest, which is a good ambush point for a creature who can see in the darkness. It's also not helping that tonight is a new moon.” “Then what should we do, then, dad?” “Were only staying here for tonight. But if Charles allowed us to stay here again for the night tomorrow. Then I am willing to help him catch that creature.” “Seeing how dangerous that creature, I would need some help. Especially since we got no neighbors around here.” Charles spoke as he stands up and cleans himself. “So that was the first time I saw the thing that has been running my livelihood. And has been damaging my property.” “Mister Charles, sir. How long has that thing been attacking?” “I think it was three years ago, it that time my animals were attacked by some predator. However, I didn't care about it too much. Since I am focused on making my grandaughter familiar with the farm, it's also been three years since Lucilia came here.” Clint suddenly had his expression change after hearing the grandfather. I became worried on what was the reason behind Clint's expression. “Charles, is Lucilia sleeping in a separate bedroom?” Clint asked as he gazes at the farmhouse. “Of course she is! She's a big girl that needs her own space. Why wouldn't she sleep in a separate bedroom?” “Hmm, Charles, I suggest that you should not let Lucilia sleep alone.” Charles raised his right brow while questioning Clint, “Why would I not let her sleep alone?” “It might only be just a theory, Charles. But we can't also get comfortable with that thing only targeting your livestock.” “What do you mean by that, Clint?” Clint looked at Charles straight in the eye and spoke, “That creature wants to mate with your granddaughter.” “W-what!?” “That's just a theory, Charles. But just I said don't get comfortable.” Charles then gritted his teeth along with clenching his fist after hearing Clint's theory. I, on the other hand, was quite disgusted thinking of what the intention of the creature's other purpose was. But out of nowhere, “Hey Clint!” “Yes, is there something you need?” “Why the hell is your son carrying a giant sword!?” Clint scratches his head before replying, “oh about that; my son is a martial arts performer. We were going to a competition that's going to be held tomorrow in a two-hour drive town.” “I see…” It looks like Charles believed Clint's lie. After that, we went back inside the house. Charles's wife was furious about how dangerous the stunt I did. I was not the only one who got scolded. Clint and Charles were, of course, unable to escape her wrath too. But Clint and Charles also told about the creature's intention to Lucilia. So they immediately talked about who someone should sleep with Lucilia in her room to protect her from the beast. Charles wanted to stay Lucilia in their room. However, Charles's wife insisted on me staying in Lucilia's room. After hearing that lie that I was a practitioner of martial arts. I think the grandmother has some other things in mind. But that's the reason why I ended up in this situation sleeping on the floor inside a girl's room. Who would have thought that a loser like me would have been able to sleep in a girl's room who is a stranger to me? I am sleeping on the floor near the window of her room. Clint said that it was likely the creature would enter the house through her window. So putting me near the window was a great security plan, as my sword can sense its presence after tasting its blood. I should leave it to mister sword then. Meanwhile, as Marcus sleeps, Lucilia was wide awake. Completely pink and is thinking about some stuff. A boy is in my room! It's a good thing that I cleaned my room this morning. Or else he would have seen my basket of unwashed underwear. Is he genuinely asleep? Lucilia takes a peek at Marcus, who has already fallen asleep. But a part of Marcus' shirt was lifted, revealing his abdomen built. “Nice body, ” Lucilia spoke as she salivates thanks to her fantasies that are playing in her mind. But the body that Marcus has was not made by him. It was his physical transformation after forming a contract with the sword. It was already morning. Lucilia wasn't able to get some proper sleep, as she expected something to happen. But her expectations were shot down as the morning shines. So waiting for Marcus to make a move was fruitless, and not sleeping was regretted by Lucilia. But Marcus and Clint were in their car speaking with Charles and his wife. “You two will be back for tonight, right?” Charles asked. “Of course, mister Charles. Because go will allow us to stay for another night here. Then we will keep our promise of helping you hunt that monster that is damaging your property and has bad plans for your granddaughter.” “Hey, Marcus, here's lunch. For you. Also, good luck with your competition. I hope you win.” “Thanks, Mrs. Charles wife.” After that, we left the farmhouse, and I don't know where the two of us are going. But it looks like Cling has a plan for today. I still can not believe that he was able to make those old couples believe in his lies. He's like a professional lier. I think Clint should be a lawyer rather than a hunter. He's wasting his skills in lying. “Marcus, I know what you are thinking, so stop it.” “So, Clint, or should I call you Big C now?” “Clint seems a good name. So I don't mind it, you calling me Clint. About where we are going. It's about that creature. We are going to investigate its place. Also, prepare to come up with lies about the competition. That you should tell those couple.”
