CH. 4- Just Trying You Out

1545 Words
I walked with the guy who offered me to join this organization he calls, hunter. I don't know if he was joking before, but after the experiences I encountered before. I will say this guy has been telling the truth. But I wonder what accomplishments did this guy have. Even this weapon of mine is scared of this guy. “Marcus,” the guy who I was walking with spoke. “Is there something wrong?” I asked the guy. “Call me, Big C. I don't want us to be strangers to each other. So start calling me that.” “Uh, ok, Big C.” After calling him that, he showed this smile of joy. Of course, as a straight gentleman, I was creeped out by this. Even my sword started to react by vibrating and speaking to me. “This guy is a weirdo! I suggest that you and I should run away while he's unaware.” After my sword asked me to run away, Big C, out of nowhere, turned around and faced me and spoke. “Such a naughty sword, still attempting to run away.” “Ahh… technically, we're just thinking about it. But we're still not planning on doing it. Also, it's just a suggestion.” “Good, you know I will be sad if you guys suddenly disappeared. So don't try escaping, or you will lose all the benefits as a hunter in training.” After that, we continued on his tour of the entire facility. It was almost the same as the regular corporate office, but if I were to describe this place as a part of a building, I was probably in the central employee department. There were a lot of rooms with a see-through glass door. It allowed me to see the multiple people facing their computers. “This place is where information from our intelligence agents gets compiled and processed. This place is restricted. Going here will probably be your first and last time.” “So this place is pretty restricted.” “Yep, now follow me, kiddo. I'll take you to a place more interesting.” I followed Big C, and after a few seconds, we arrived at the exit of this building as I pass through the door along with Big C. I witnessed that this organization's headquarters was enormous than my initial impression. The place was an entire campus, with multiple facilities that can accommodate the needs of people inside. “WOW!” These were the words that came out of my mouth. “Very impressive, ain't it?” “Marcus now's the time to escape.” The sword I was holding spoke telepathically to me. “I think this guy is not dangerous. He has shown a lot of critical information that we could use.” The sword, with a hesitant voice, spoke, “Fine, I'll play with your way, Marcus. However, don't call crying for help if this guy turns out to be a bad guy.” “Ok… hey, mister sword, do you have a name?” “A name, I don't know? But I have these hazy memories, which I cannot comprehend. But I don't know if I have the memories of my name. All know that I have been in this form since the beginning.” “What with the hold up with you two?” Suddenly spoke Big C. “Sorry, Mister.” We continued to follow Big C. He brought us to a building that resembled a gym. I wanted to ask him what we're going to be doing inside. However, when I was about to ask him, he just spoke, “follow me, Marcus.” Upon entering the building, I noticed how wide it was. In my estimate, it is probably six hundred square meters of space. But as I was following Big C, out of nowhere, he suddenly stopped and turned around to face me. I asked him, “is there any problem?” I don't know what was happening, but my gut told me something. It was something that scared me a little bit. And my instinct was trying to warn me to what was going to happen next. Which was Big C's reply. “Hey, Marcus. What will be happening now? You ask. It is going to be your combat test. I will see how powerful and effective you and that sword of yours in combat.” After hearing him, I gulped, knowing that fighting someone, which worries me if I will satisfy Big C. But I was wondering who will I be fighting as I see no one. So I politely asked, Big C. “Who am I going to fight?” He did not reply but gave a wide grin. Suddenly, the grin he showed gave me the feeling of realization that caused me to feel fear. The words that came out of his mouth just made me worried. “Draw your sword, Marcus.” After big C spoke those words, a massive wave of killing intent started to surge. My entire body was shaking from the nervousness I felt. I even lost my courage as the killing intent cause me to froze. “What's going, Marcus? Are you scared? If I were a monster that we are hunting. Then you would have been dead by now.” This kid's weapon is something that can chop up two heads in one swing. On its own, it's already powerful, but its capabilities are something that I want to see. But this is also to test if this kid can use that sword to fight and slay his enemies. “Umm, is this necessary, mister Big C?” This kid has no idea how capable his sword is. Then this is the perfect time to make him realize that. “Marcus, your sword has saved you once! Do you think he will not do that again?” I don't know, but the words that Mister Big C spoke to me. It caused me to have the courage to pull my sword from its wooden sheath. But it also causes my blade to suddenly talked confidently after pulling him out. “This is going to be fun. I haven't fought someone this strong for a long time.” Then the heavyweight that I got used to when carrying the sword suddenly disappeared. Not only that, but now that I think about it, my body also felt lighter. To test this, I tried jumping if my body becoming light was just in my brain. And the results shocked me. It looks like he noticed one of the perks of his weapon. It gives you superhuman capabilities. Your strength becomes more robust. Your speed, agility, and stamina even surpass the world-class athletes. “Now you are ready, Marcus, to receive my attacks.” “What?” When I gazed at Mister Big C. Ge suddenly disappeared in thin air. “Kid! Behind you?” Yelled the sword to Marcus. “Too slow!” Spoke Big C as he unleashes a big sweeping kick. That hit Marcus in his ribs. “Gwaaahhhh!” Marcus got sent flying a few meters away from his original position. After getting kicked by Big C. Marcus then grabbed his rib that got hit by the kick. The pain he felt was enough to cause him to think twice about continuing the fight. But he noticed something unexpected. “My ribs, they are being healed; the pain is also easing.” “Kid! Watch out!” Yelled the sword of Marcus. This yell caused him to react by instantly evading. Even though he doesn't know where the attack was coming from, Marcus felt like the sword told him where the exact position was to move. Marcus has never been glad before, thanks to him being able to dodge the incoming stomp attack from Big C. Marcus was even able to put some distance between him and Big C. It looks like the hunter and his weapon are starting to connect. It looks like Marcus is beginning to learn how to utilize his weapon. However, it's time to see if he can focus on my next attack. “Sword, do you know where he is going to attack next?” “I don't know. This guy is too fast to predict his move…” Before the sword could finish his sentence, Mister Big C, who was a few meters away straight from them, disappeared. But he reappears again in Marcus's front, prepared to attack with a straight punch. Marcus reacted by backing away. “Too late, Marcus!” Yelled Big C. “I don't think so!” Replied the sword, who suddenly unleashed a turquoise glow. “Marcus now's the time to escape.” Marcus was confused by what he saw. It was the same as what happened when he first grabbed his sword. Everything slowed down, and he saw Big C was slowly coming towards him. “What just happened?” “I used my ‘Cursed ability.’ Kid, don't waste this opportunity. You either attack or run away from here. I can only use this for three minutes.” “So this is your ‘Cursed ability’ fascinating.” Both Marcus and his sword were shocked after hearing Big C, speak. “I-impossible! Kid! Runaway!” “Too late for that.” Big C, started to move normally again. Along with his increased speed. Within a few milliseconds, he appeared in Marcus' front. Catching Marcus off guard, after seeing Marcus' reaction Big C, launched his punch towards Marcus' diaphragm. “Uwaaah! I…can't breathe.” These were the last words Marcus spoke as he slowly lost consciousness once again. This time, it was due to the lack of oxygen.
