CH. 5- At a Mansion

1545 Words
A blurry bright white light greeted me as I opened my eyes. But when the blurry image turned clear. I instantly stood up, which caused me to feel an unexpectedly aching ribcage. “Owww!” I yelled out loudly as I grab my chest. “Where is this place?” I asked myself as I saw these white curtains blocking my view. I then looked down and noticed that I was sitting in a hospital bed. *ZZZZ* The curtains blocking my vision suddenly opened. Then I saw a man with black hair, wearing a lab coat. He even wore a pair of glasses in his eyes. With all of this evidence, I at this moment knew it was a doctor. “Looks like you are awake, kid.” He looked down at my arms, which were hugging my ribcage. “If I were you, kid, I wouldn't be moving too much.” “Why… Ouch!” “I told you so, kid.” He walked closer to me and grabbed my arms. “Also, don't touch the damaged area. It will only become more painful.” He spoke to me with a straight face. I followed what he had advised and stopped holding my injured part. This guy is the complete opposite of big C. He seems to have no energy at all. “Kid, you should go back to lying in bed. It will be two more hours before your injuries will completely heal. Wait, that's wrong. I already used my weapon's cursed ability. So I think thirty minutes or so.” “How can you say that this will heal in thirty minutes? Without any surgeries performed! Aren't you supposed to be a doctor?” “I failed the medical exam and licensure exam for doctors.” He replied once again with a straight face. “Now you are worrying me!” “You're too loud for a new kid. You don't realize that your sword had already affected your healing properties.” “What do you mean by that?” “Aren't you a hunter, kid? You should know that people under contract with a cursed weapon. Have faster healing than a normal human, thanks to their magical essence shared with their wielders.” After hearing about that, I remembered something when I was fighting the creature that invaded my house. The sword instantly healed my wounds that I had sustained from the beast. “Wait! Where's my sword!” “You kids these days are loud. Your sword is in here. I have put him on my desk. You should know, as the wielder of that sword, that you are capable of telepathic conversation with your weapon. As you two are already spiritually linked.” Why does this doctor thinks I know everything about my sword? But I am learning a lot from him, rather than the one who kicked and punched me. “Hey, Marcus! I heard that you were awake.” “Ahhh! Stay away from me!” “Big C, the patient is still in the healing process. So I suggest that you do your business with him later.” “Come on, Doc, I just wanted to see if my apprentice is fine. After getting trained by me.” “You call, three rib cages and a broken skull training, Big C?” After hearing the doctor, I immediately checked my entire body for any damages. “Why did you have to say all of those horrible things, doctor!” The doctor looked at me and replied, “You should be used to these kinds of injuries. Aren't you a hunter?” “He's the newbie I told you about, Doc.” Big C spoke to the doctor. “Oh, you mean this was the kid that got attacked by a Tik-tik. It looks like the sword was what I suspected.” “What were you expecting, Doc?” Big C inquired as he crossed his arms. “It's a Kampilan, a famous sword from Southeast Asia. It's also the sword that locals there believed beheaded the Portuguese explorer Magellan.” “I thought you were going to say something interesting.” Big C then let out a sigh after commenting. “I already knew it was a Kampilan, Doc,” he added. They were talking about something I did not understand. So I asked, “What's a Kampilan?” Even though they just spoke the details of that sword. “Marcus, that is the identification of your sword. It seems you still need to know more about your sword.” “I guess I can do that. But what's the big deal about it being a Kampilan.” I asked the two adults with me. “Doc, why don't you explain it to this newbie.” Big C then walked away and exited the room the Doc and I stayed. “He's always been lazy. But knowing about this would be a great help for you. Especially since you are a newbie hunter.” I never thought that I would be interested in my sword. But this is for grandpa's safety. I listened carefully to what the Doc was about to say. “Marcus, cursed weapons attract monsters from their origin country. Like your Kampilan, it attracted the Tik-tik, which is a mythical creature in Southeast Asia.” “Then what does that mean, doc?” “It means the beliefs of the local folks on how to fight back without any weapon can work. Another is you can do something that can cause them to stay away from you. So studying the monsters that are attracted to your cursed weapon is a must.” After that, the doctor walked away and waved his hand. “I'll be taking my leave now. I think you can sleep here tonight. Also, I will be bringing your sword to you tomorrow.” “Wait, Doc!” The doctor stopped in his tracks and asked. “What is it, now?” “Umm, how do I know where to start studying the monsters. You even know that I don't even know what my sword is.” The doctor let out a sigh of annoyance. “Ha~ you can use the library. Or search it on the internet. Kids these days don't even know how to use the internet.” “Wait, that's supposed to be my generation's line. Now I feel like I got taught about the internet by a boomer.” After he left, I went back to sleeping and laid down on the hospital bed. I felt tired that I just dozed off without noticing it. Meanwhile, in the middle of the woods stood a mansion. The European Mega Mansion was quite old. It had vines growing to its pillar areas. There were even gothic-inspired statues located everywhere. All of the gothic figures and even the mansion gave off a demonic aura. Inside the mansion, only one room had light, as can be seen in that room's window. Inside the room was a round table where six people gathered. Four were men, and two were women. They all wore black, highlighted by the single candle lighting up the room. “Looks like one of my men were killed.” A woman with long black hair that reaches her waist spoke. She was petite but had some right curves, and she has pale white skin. The pupils of her eyes were pure black. She was quite a beauty that could make a man fall even though she lacks some specific ‘assets.’ “So the hunter organization has killed another one of our kind again.” A man with blond hair, pale skin, and red eyes spoke. He was sitting between the two other men. He even gave off a sense of authority as the woman who spoke replied to him respectfully. “I'm very sorry for the loss of men, Sir Vlad. I never thought that my men would go in and launch an attack all by himself.” “This just proves that some of the members of the organization are undisciplined.” A bulky bald man spoke. “Didn't you even lost more men than me, Mino?” “Shut up! Lucia, my plan was already perfect if those hunters didn't show up!” “Mino, calm down. We are already losing our allies slowly. And yet you are still fighting and insulting each other.” “Diablo, this bitc…” Diablo cuts off Minos and scolds him. “Language Mino, even though we are evil entities. We still are in the presence of Lord Vlad. Please show some proper etiquette.” After that, Diablo turned his gaze at the woman across him, the woman was curvy or, in other words, had a seductive body. She even had some of her cleavage shown. She was also quite a beauty, a mature beauty perhaps. She's like an over-sexualized teacher that each teen daydreams about. “How about you, Witch? How many of your men have died in the hands of hunters.” “My daughters, let me see. Thankfully none for this week. But we had to exchange the decrease of hunting humans for food and resources for our potions. It's been a rough week for my daughters and me.” “Lord Vlad! Why don't we attack the hunter organization!? We even outnumber them, so killing all of them are…” “Mino, you do know why I don't attack. There are still the Legendary hunters, which can take our entire army by themselves if we don't join. Not to mention, they have the backing of powerful politicians who had experienced our terror. But I assure all of you, one day, we will be reclaiming the age of darkness. The age where we rule the humans and turn them into slaves and livestock.”
