2042 Words
Charles came down running from upstairs. With a worried look on his face, he screamed, “LUCILIA IS MISSING!” “What!?” his wife asked as she slowly lost strength. Clint was able to catch her before falling down the floor. Clint immediately assists Charles's wife to a chair where she could sit. Everyone was now worried about Lucilia, who disappeared into thin air. Clint immediately tells Marcus, “Go to her room, Marcus! Check if you could find anything." After receiving Clint's order, Marcus rushes towards Lucilia's room. He checked every corner and every cabinet that she could hide. Marcus even inspects the windows of the room to see if there was something unnatural. Then there Marcus found a trail of droplets of blood. It was too small to notice, but Marcus knew who owned the droplets of blood. Marcus rushes downstairs and immediately tells Clint about what he found out. “Clint! I saw blood trails in the window! I think the chu-” “I see now; I guess we have to move now before it could hurt, Lucilia.” “Wait, Clint, you mean my granddaughter was abducted by that creature.” Clint nods as a reply to Charles, then Charles suddenly grabs a chair and takes a seat. His expression was full of despair after realizing what he fears for had already happened. Charles grabs his shotgun and screams, “let's go to that bastard! I'm going to fill the body of that thing with lead bullets!” Charles stood up and rushed towards the door. But Clint stopped him in his tracks and forced him to sit back. “Charles, calm down!” “CALM DOWN! HOW CAN I CALM DOWN! WHEN MY GRANDDAUGHTER'S SAFETY ANS CHASTITY ARE IN DANGER!” “Charles! I know that you are worried about your granddaughter. But this is not the right time for you to decide harshly. If you are going to be charging on like that, you will put your granddaughter in even greater danger.” After hearing Clint, Charles calm's down, but his face was enraged as he grits his teeth. On the other hand, his wife only cried on her chair. Marcus looks at the old couple and felt somewhat uneasy. He doesn't know how to speak with them; as a loner, he hasn't experienced people around him have such emotions. But it was painful for Marcus to even look at them. Marcus grabbed Charle's wife on her shoulder and spoke, “don't worry, ma'am. We'll find your daughter, and I promise we will bring her safe and sound.” “Marcus, you said that you found tracks of blood. Is that correct?” “Yes, Clint, it was on the rooftop where the window was facing.” Clint grabbed his chin and spoke, “So it means we can track that creature. But the problem is that monster is going to be using his tracks to lead us to a trap. So following the trail of blood might be a lead or a surprise ambush.” “Then what should we do now, Clint?” “We'll split into two groups, Marcus. Me with Charles and you with his wife. It would be dangerous if someone is left behind alone.” After that, Clint turns around toward Charles and asks, “do you have any extra firearms?” “I do; it's only a revolver with caliber thirty-eight ammunition. Why do you ask?” “Good, give it to your wife. We will be hunting that monster into two groups. And we have to be capable of killing that creature. So another firepower is necessary.” “I see. I'll grab my revolves then, but who's going to use it?” “Your wife, of course, she'll be joining us to find that thing. So giving her a firearm is logical.” “I see. Then honey, do you still remember how to use a gun?” “If it's for our granddaughter Charles! I'll be killing anyone who's going to stand in my way!” Charles has a look of relief after hearing his wife. Then he teasingly spoke, “I thought you were a liberal-" BONK! A frying pan flew towards Charles's face before he could even finish his sentence. Marcus and Clint had the same thing in their mind as they saw the two couple's reactions. “So it's that kind of relationship in this house.” it was the thing that Marcus and Clint had in mind. After preparation, the four got out of the house and started a strategy meeting. The four people agreed to go in pairs. Clint and Charles would be going together. While Marcus and Merry, which was Charles's wife's name. The two just learned about her name as she hasn't introduced her proper name to the two guest. The sun was also about to set, making this mission slightly harder. The four proceeded to go deep into the forest, which was just behind the farm. Marcus and Merry followed the blood trail dropped by the monster. Meanwhile, Clint and Charles choose to follow the opposite direction of the blood. Clint thought of the creature's tracks would possibly lead them in circles or a trap if they followed the blood trail. So dividing themselves into two groups will give them a higher chance of finding the creature. Marcus slashed the branches of the bushes blocking their way. It was also not helping that it was already nighttime. They could only see through the darkness using the flashlight that Merry held. Marcus did not want the experience he had before to happen once again. So with each step, he looks carefully around his surroundings. He was observing each plant or any human-made triggers that could probably put him and Merry in danger. Of course, this leads them to move slower than they originally planned. Anxiety was starting to hit Merry as she became more worried about her granddaughter's safety. Marcus notices this and reassures Merry by speaking. “Mrs. Merry, you don't have to worry if we are unable to find her. I'm sure, mister Clint and your husband can find her. Also, mister Clint is strong! So you can put your trust in him, Mrs. Merry!” Merry replied with a smile on her face after hearing Marcus. However, as Marcus turns around, the sad look on Merry's face returns. Meanwhile, from Clint's viewpoint, they were not making that much progress. And an angry Charles was not even helping him one bit as he created noises by mumbling angry noises to himself. It was pretty challenging for Clint to stay focused as his partner was releasing a murderous aura. However, Clint understood why Charles was acting this way. But the big problem is that even the animals are starting to get scored with his presence. It was not helpful for both of them in their search. But as they continued, Clint suddenly heard a strange noise. So without hesitation, he covered the mouth of Charles. Charles struggled, but Clint shushes him, “shhh! Please be quiet for a while.” Then after a few seconds, an evil smile suddenly popped out of Clint's mouth. It was more a mischievous smile rather than an evil one, to be more exact. “Looks like we're getting close, Charles, so if you will remain quiet for a little more. I might be able to pinpoint the creature's location.” “Really!?” “Shhhh! Don't be too loud, or I'll lose the direction of that creature once again.” Charles immediately covers his mouth after hearing Clint. The two then proceeded to move, with Clint leading the way. Charles, on the other hand, held his shotgun tightly, prepared to fire it any moment. But something had bothered Clint. It was about Marcus and Merry's safety. As he realizes that the blood trail that the creature left was to mislead them. But that's not the thing that worried Clint. It was where the blood trail was leaded. Would it lead to a trap, or will it make the people following it just run around in circles? Worry was now starting to arise in Clint's mind. Only he could do now is hope for the blood trail will only lead Merry and Marcus to go in circles and not a trap. Then moments later, Clint and Charles saw a large tree. The gap on its roots was wide enough to fit a person. Clint did not go straight ahead to inspect the tree. Instead, he observed the tree, but Charles, on the other hand, was scratching his head in confusion about what was going on. However, Charles realizes that his granddaughter might have been taking into that tree. So without any hesitation, he charges forward. Only to be grabbed by Clint in his shirt. It caused him to stumble down and fall flat on his face. “Why the hell did you do that!?” Charles spoke in a low tone but angry voice. “Shhh! Be quiet and observe Charles. Something is not right about this, and I can feel it." “If something is not alright, my good ol' Betty can handle it. It will obliterate anything or anyone that stands between my granddaughter and me.” Clint looks directly at the eyes of Charles. Suddenly, Charles felt fear as Clint looks at him with deadly serious eyes. The only thing Charles could do was gulp in fear and obey Clint. Due to this, Charles finally stands down. However, Charles maintained his vigilance, as he knows that anything could ambush them. “Looks like you calm down," Clint spoke to Charles. “I hope these plans of yours, Clint, can save my grandchild safe and sound. If you weren't only here, I would have charge toward that tree and killed everything I could see.” Unexpectedly a tiny creature appeared in front of the tree. Charles's eyes widened upon gazing at the creature. Filled with rage, Charles aims his shotgun at the beast. Clint did not do anything to stop Charles, which was quite surprising to Charles. It leads to him asking, “are you not going to stop me?” Clint immediately replied, “you're free to do what you want now. I don't care about your decisions now.” Charles only rolled his eyes and aimed at the creature. *BANG!* Charles fired the gun and shot the creature, which got pushed back a few meters, thanks to the shotgun's power. The beast then screamed in agony as it starts to bleed. The screech was very unpleasant to the ear. Charles immediately charges towards the creature. However, Clint just looked at him go from behind. Then the creature who had dropped down looks at Charles with its eyes glowing in the dark. “Where is my granddaughter, you son of a b***h!?” The creature replied with a screech, causing Charles to get pissed, which lead to him kicking the beast. However, Charles's foot got caught by the monster's small arms. Then the beast bites him with its teeth. Charles screamed in pain as he falls to the ground leading him to lose grip on his gun. So, upon failing, Charles loses his weapon in the darkness. The only thing he could see was the two large red eyes of the chupacabra. “HELP!" Charles cried; however, as he looks above him, another pair of two red eyes glowing in the darkness appeared. ”I-impossible there's two of them!” The new pair of red eyes launches itself towards Charles as it showed its sharp teeth. Charles thought that it was the end for him. But at the last seconds, he saw the creature's head separate from its body as the pair of two red eyes flew away in the air. Then he saw Clint's face look at him with disappointment. “Now you see why I did not charge carelessly.” After saying those words, Clint immediately grabs the beast on its neck, still biting Charles on his foot. Then with only his bare hands, Clint separates the monster's head from its body with ease. Charles looked at Clint with fear as he saw Clint's strength. “This guy is a monster even among monsters!" Charles spoke unto himself as the monster's warm blood that Clint killed us g his bare hand's lands in his cheeks. “Be careful next time," Clint spoke as he gazes back at the injured Charles.
