CH. 17 - Bloodlust

2043 Words
Charles looked at Clint with admiration after being saved from a near-death situation. Clint reached his hand out and helped Charles stand up. But as Charles stands up, he suddenly felt one of his right foot is painful to move. Charles was not even capable of standing up on his own. Clint squats down and checks the injured part of Charles. “Looks like that thing torn your tendon. So moving will be very painful if you don't want to feel unbearable pain. I suggest you should give not move too much.” Charles immediately objected to Clint's suggestion and argued. “No! I don't want to be left alone and helpless while my granddaughter needs rescuing!” Then with his strength alone, Charles stood up by himself. Only to fall back to the ground, “Ouch! That hurts!” “You should not move anymore, Charles. Or you will lose more blood. It would be best if you remained calm and wrap your wounded feet with a cloth to prevent bleeding.” “But my granddaughter, she needs my help. I can't sit around here doing anything, knowing that.” Clint held Charles in his shoulder and spoke, “don't worry too much about it. Remember, Marcus, Merry, and I are still around to save your granddaughter. So put some trust in us, ok?” Charles looked down and clenched the grass around his hand, and replied. “Okay, I'll leave my granddaughter to your hands. Please bring her back safely.” “No worries, Charles, I'll be saving Lucilia.” After that, Clint walks towards the tree and inspects the roots. Where he found a hole that fits a person, not only that, but it has seemed to lead somewhere. Clint turns around and faces Charles. “Hey, Charles, I'm going inside this hole. I think somewhere deep in this place. They're probably hiding your grandchild somewhere. Also, make sure to tell Marcus when they arrive. Oh! Before I forget! Charles, guard the entrance, don't let any of those creatures enter.” Charlie had a smile on his face as he replied, “you can count on Betty and me!” After that, Clint entered the hole and moved forward. “Looks like these chupacabras have created a best here. To think there were this many. I guess this should be pretty fun; I haven't fought anything g for almost a month now. Even though these beasts are weak, these monsters can still satisfy my desire to kill and exterminate.” “I wonder what Marcus and Merry are doing. I hope they are ok, but I'm pretty sure they'll come towards the sound of gunshots. Maybe I should leave some for Marcus so that he can enjoy the taste of killing. Hmm, I wonder how Marcus would react to multiple enemies?” But as Clint walked forward and spoke to himself, he heard growls of monsters ahead of his path. Clint had a grin on his face upon noticing the sound of monsters. “Looks like I'm going to have fun earlier than expected.” Clint charges forward and attacks the monsters that he heard. However, even though he was the one setting a fight. The chupacabras were unable to notice Clint. The monsters only saw Clint after one of their allies had his head explode after being punched by Clint. The chupacabras became disorganized as they were unable to react quick enough to counter Clints moves. Meanwhile, Clint was counting the enemies he had killed. Like it was just a walk in the Park for him as he took the lives of the vicious monsters. “One chupacabra! Two Chupacabra! Three Chupacabra! And Four Chupacabras!” Clint defeated more than ten Chupacabras without using any weapon. The blood of the monsters stained his clothes as well as his fist. “That was a nice warm-up. But it's somehow still lacking. I must control myself, or I'll end up killing all of the chupacabras and not leaving any for Marcus. Not killing is hard for me since I haven't done such a thing for a month now. And my entire body is itching for battle right now.” Meanwhile, outside, Charles was observing his surroundings intently after being tasked with guarding the entrance. Charles was now even more careful after being injured after his carelessness. Then while guarding, Charles suddenly heard the bush rattle about ten meters away from him. It was dark and hard to see. So Charles, with the help of a small flashlight, lights the bushes to check it. He then c****d his shotgun and aimed at the bush where he heard the rattle. He put his index finger near the trigger and waited for anything to come out. Then a tall figure came out of the bushes. Without hesitation, Charles pulled the trigger of his gun. *Bang!* The gun shouted as Charles c***s it for another fire. However, before he could fire again. The figure suddenly cried. “What the hell are you doing, Charles!” The voice belonged to an older woman. Charles then realized that he fired his shotgun towards his wife and Marcus. Charles's arms started to shake as he learns a fatal mistake. Charles stood and rushed toward his wife worriedly. But due to his injury, Charles only fell to the ground and scream in pain. “Aaaaaahhh!” “Charles! What happened!" Merry asked with a worried tone as she dashes toward Charles. Charles started apologizing after seeing Merry. “I'm sorry, dear. I thought you were an enemy. ” “Charles! Stop crying like a baby and tell me where our grandchild is!" “Clint went below that tree, ” Charles spoke as he points his finger at the giant tree standing near them. “Clint believes that those things brought Lucilia underground through that passageway. So he went in and said that he's going to rescue Lucilia. Also, I think he wants you to follow him, Marcus." “Did he say that, Mister Charles?” “He did not, but I had my guts tell me that he wants you to go inside there. Also, I'm worried about him; he saved me from death.” “Fine, Mister Charles, I'll go follow Clint. But are you still going to be ok? Without me here?" “No need to worry, Marcus; I'm sure Charles can handle anything dangerous with his Betty, right dear?” Charles did not respond to his wife, Merry. What he did was hug her as tightly as he can. Merry was confused with how Charles was acting. But she remembered that Charles almost shot Marcus and her. So she knew that it was guilt that caused Charles to act like this. Merry patted Charles back as he cries silently. Meanwhile, Marcus gave them a final gaze before entering the underground passage. Marcus grips his sword hard before speaking into himself. “I'll bring back Lucilia to you two. And your family can once again live in peace.” Marcus walks towards the only path that was in the underground system. It was dark and eerie. So he wondered how Clint was able to move forward. But suddenly, the blade of his sword glowed a turquoise green color. It lighted his path as he traverses the underground system. “This is amazing, mister sword. I never thought you could do this. Thanks, mister sword!” “No need to thank me, but you can thank me by letting me kill something today. Oho! I can smell bloodlust erupting in this path. Let's hurry; Marcus or that boss of yours will take all of the monsters to himself. And as will not be able to get any action.” “Ok, mister sword." After that, Marcus dashed forward. His speed was equivalent to the fastest man alive. However, as he runs, he was met by the piling bodies of chupacabras. Mister Sword then started worrying as he spoke, “Marcus! Let's hurry, or that guy is not going to leave some for us." “Ok, mister sword.” But as Marcus continues to dash forward, he saw multiple bodies of the chupacabras piling up. But as they got more profound, the bodies started increasing in numbers. Marcus was in disbelief after realizing how many they were. It was like a complete shock to him. Meanwhile, his sword was itching to kill something, so it kept telling Marcus to hurry up. Then they finally caught up to Clint, who is currently surrounded by chupacabras. However, as they got near, the chupacabras were all eliminated. Marcus was scratching his head as he did not see Clint move. “Umm, sir Clint.” Clint turns around and saw Marcus, so he greets him, “Oh! Marcus, I did not see you there! Glad you could catch up with me. Now we can exterminate this best for good.” “Nest?" “It's the name we gave a chupacabras hiding spot, and I'm pretty sure there is a ranked high chupacabra leading this nesting ground. But I won't be fighting him. Cause this is going to be a test for you, Marcus. I'll be evaluating your combat capabilities.” “Wait, what!?" Marcus had a surprised face as he asked this. But his sword has the opposite reaction. It was an excited one as he yelled, “yahoo! Finally, a worthy for after many years. I can sink my blade into the flesh of my enemy. Killing is going to be exciting as fuck." Clint smile after hearing the sword talk, then he moved closer to Marcus and said, “arent you also excited, Marcus. You're going to face a strong opponent who will probably make you struggle.” Why would I be excited fighting an opponent like that!? I would rather fight weaker monsters. “Marcus, why do I feel like your cowering out!” Clint spoke as he observed Marcus more closely. “Cause he is cowering out, now I am having second thoughts on why did I choose you a wielded.” “Marcus, you must not cower out. Remember, you have to rescue Lucilia and defeat the monsters that had captured her.” “I know that, Clint. But-” “I see; you are still scared, am I right, Marcus?" Marcus had a shocked expression after hearing Clint. However, he tried denying the findings of Clint. Seeing this, Clint let out a sigh and grabbed Marcus by the shoulder. He then gave Marcus some advice. “Look, Marcus, you're still new to this, so I understand your struggles. Even when I was new, I did have the same problem as you. I was scared of killing monsters. However, when I got used to it, I find it somewhat enjoyable. So what do you say? I'm sure you're just having the problems a new hunter has when he is still starting.” “I guess you are right about that, Clint." Clint had a disappointed look in his eye after hearing Marcus. So he suddenly brought something up. “Hey Marcus, I heard that you felt something unusual when you fought the slit-faced woman. Isn't that right?" ”Yes, there was this weird feeling occurring when I fought that woman. I don't know what that feeling was.” Clint suddenly had a smile appear on his face. ”Did that feeling felt even better after you killed the woman—the sense of victory and blood spilling and killing a monster?” “What is that feeling, Clint? I don't understand it. But I don't hate that feeling. It's like a drug that I want to taste again. Like my body can't survive without feeling that same thing once again. Clint, do you have any idea what it is?" Clint turned away from facing Marcus and answered, “that's the feeling the heat of battle. You enjoy the clash between you and your enemy. I don't know how to explain it thoroughly, but I'll tell you this. The only way to feel that again is to fight and fight until you satisfy your desire." “Then I have to fight to feel that feeling again?" “Yes, Marcus, and there is no other way of replication that feeling.” “HEEEEELP!” But as the two were talking to each other, a scream echoed throughout the entire path. It was a girl's scream; Marcus and Clint knew who it belongs to. So they cut off their conversation and run straight ahead. Then after running forward, the two witness something horrifying. “What is that!?" Marcus spoke as he gazes his sight at the creature holding Lucilia.
