CH. 18- A Mysterious Masked Man

Marcus looks at the scene he saw with disbelief. A giant chupacabra almost three meters tall held Lucilia.

“What the hell is that!” Marcus yelled.

“Looks like it's the leader of this nest. I never thought I would see something like this. It looks like the intelligence we currently possess about these monsters needs to be updated.”

“What do you mean by that, Clint?” The sword asked.

“Our current knowledge about these monsters is not yet complete. But that unknown knowledge would be discovered by us is somewhat good. Then this is a perfect opportunity to gather some data and test someone.” Clint spouted with a wry smile.

“Marcus! Prepare for combat! You'll deal with that big guy. I'll deal with the rest.”

“What!?” Marcus yelled.

However, as they were busy talking, multiplied chupacabras started coming out in every direction. Clint crackled his fist upon seeing the multiple monsters.

“Looks like I'm going to have some fun today. Come at me, you uglies!” The final part of Clint's speech echoed throughout the entire place.

Then a few seconds later, Clint disappears in Marcus's eyes. But then he reappeared in the middle of the monsters. He is attacking with a kick, killing three chupacabras with one swing of his right leg.

The monsters immediately focused their charge towards Clint. They were attacking in every direction of Clint, using their numbers as an advantage. However, the chupacabras that attacked Clint were not even able to get near him.

Marcus was amazed by how many monsters Clint has killed. In a matter of seconds. But something inside Marcus started to burn as he watched Clint fight.

It was like his entire body was hot, and he could feel his blood pressure increase as he continues to observe. Then his sword suddenly spoke.

“What are we still waiting for, Marcus? I want to take some action now. This giant enemy of us makes every inch of my blade ask for blood. I want to see his body sliced into pieces. You feel it too, right, Marcus? The feeling of want g to kill.”

“Is that this feeling? Mister sword?”

His sword chuckled at his question before replying. “That's the feeling of being pumped for battle. A feeling that warriors always have when in battle. Don't hate it, Marcus; embrace it as every core of your body will start to enjoy it.”

“I see then. I guess I will have to do this quickly.”

Marcus points his sword at the giant chupacabra and then. With superhuman speed, he rushes towards the monster with his sword.

The giant chupacabra notices Marcus, who has already sprung into action—charging towards him. The giant monster looks at Marcus and roars at him.

“Gaaaaawwwr!”

It was a roar to intimidate Marcus. However, it was fruitless as he continued to charge. After trying that, the chupacabra also rushes toward Marcus at full speed. Both prepared to attack to kill.

When the two meet in the middle, both gave all of their strength in that one shot. It was due to both Marcus and the monster tried to find how strong each other was.

The creature attacked with his feet by kicking. Marcus used his sword to attack. When the attack of the two collided, the floor on their feet became cracked. Then, both Marcus and the monster's attack sent large portions of the earth below their feet flying throughout the place.

Marcus immediately jumps backward after testing the giant chupacabra.

“His attack is heavy and powerful. It looks like he's making good use of his height and weight! Marcus looks like we have to try another strategy.”

The sword spoke as Marcus backflips to lower his speed. Marcus was quite surprised that he was capable of doing such a stunt. Especially with his unathletic body.

“Do you have any suggestions then, mister sword?”

“Do I look like someone who thinks! I'm just here to be used by you! And to kill these monsters!”

Marcus did not let his guard down and observed the monsters for any possible weakness. But he could think of nothing. So frustrated, Marcus scratches his head as he can not think of any strategy for the moment.

“You have no ideas? Don't you, Marcus?”

“I'm trying my best to think of a solution, mister sword.”

However, as the two of them were talking, the monster was charging towards them. The sword immediately warns Marcus about the beast. Thanks to the blade, Marcus could dodge the attack, which was a swift stomp that caused a light earthquake.

Above the ground, Merry and Charles felt the earth shake lightly.

“Was that an earthquake!? I have to go and rescue my daughter,” Merry screamed worriedly.

“Hold your horses, dear!” Charles spoke as Merry was about to dash towards the entrance of the tree.

“But Charles..!”

Charles held Merry in her face and forced her to look at him. “Merry! Look at me!”

Merry was starting to sob as she speaks, “Charles, but our granddaughter.”

“Merry! Calm down, ok! And listen to me. Our granddaughter will be safe. What we should do now is put our trust in Clint and Marcus.”

“How can you be sure! You saw those creatures. You even got hurt yourself. So how can you say that I should calm down.”

Charles hugged her wife and whispered, “everything's going to be ok; Clint is someone those monsters can't defeat that easily. That's why I trust them both that they will bring Lucilia back safely!”

*STOMP!*STOMP!*

Marcus was avoiding every attack of the giant beast. With his agility, he perfectly dodges all the monster's attacks. But then Marcus slowly realized something. A weakness of the monsters which he cannot believe that he thought about it just now.

The movement of this monster is predictable. It can move fast but only in a straight line. It has no way of turning its body in any direction. It means this monster can't attack from behind. Not only that, his arms are pretty small even to reach his back.

It looks like its biggest strength, after all, was also its weakness: this chupacabra's height, weight, and overall body built are his shortcomings.

Marcus had a smile appeared on Marcus's face after realizing this. His sword saw this smile and asked Marcus, “have you thought of something. That could beat the crap out of this monster.”

“Yes, so prepare, mister sword, as we are gonna end this battle once and for all!”

His sword chuckled after hearing Marcus say those words. “Haha, it looks like you used your brain for once, kid. I'm a great example, aren't I! Haha! ”

“But you did not even give any suggestions!”

“Shut Up!”

After that, Marcus charges towards the giant chupacabra once again at full speed. The monster also set towards Marcus. However, upon reaching the middle, Marcus suddenly slides down below the beast. The chupacabra was caught off guard by this, causing him to turn towards Marcus.

However, it took a lot of time before he could face backward. By the time he was able to turn himself backward. Marcus was already nowhere. The monster was confused until he suddenly felt something struck him from behind.

That was the time when the monster realizes that Marcus had struck him from behind. The beast unleashes an unpleasant roar of pain.

“Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwrrrrr!”

The scream echoed throughout the entire area. It even reached the outside, where Charles and Merry heard it. Both of them had their hair in their whole body rise upon hearing the roar.

“Dear, what was that!?” Asked Merry to Charles with a scared voice.

“I don't know, honey, but don't worry, I'm here. I will protect you from harm's way.” Charles replied to his wife as he pats her back.

Marcus, who has struck his sword behind the beast with full force, and runs downwards to the monster's lower part. Marcus's stuck his sword in the flesh of the beast as he does this. He created a trail of long fresh wounds by doing this.

The monster only screamed in pain as he was incapable of reaching his back. Thanks to his size and small arms. Blood then spurts out of the monster's wound.

Marcus lands safely back to the ground; however, he looks at the beast. He raised his sword and dashed back to launch another attack once again. It was the final strike to end the monster.

“This is your end, you vile creature!” Marcus yelled as he managed to reach an abnormal meter of height after jumping.

Marcus aimed for the nape of the creature as he falls towards the chupacabra. But as this was happening, his sword spoke.

“Looks like I also have to show off my newly acquired power.”

Mister Sword suddenly had a golden glow as particles of light appear everywhere. It was like a million fireflies came out of nowhere and gathered toward, mister sword. However, it was not only that I noticed. It was Like the fireflies were also leading a path light to the darkness of this place. But that path leads to the neck of the giant monster.

Mister Sword's blade was about two inches near the neck of the monster. The golden dust that looked like fireflies became a single ray, forming an extension of the Mister Sword's blade.

Then my blade slice through the neck of the giant chupacabra. But I used the single golden ray as an extension to match the size of the monster's neck. The golden ray allowed me to behead my enemy in a single swing.

But the ray was not just the same size as the monster. Actually, it was longer. The ray that extends mister sword's blade was about twenty to thirty meters in length.

However, after defeating that monster, the ray was gone. Then its heads land down on the ground. Its body then followed, which caused a small earthquake. As it lands, I immediately looked at Clint to see if he needs any help. But when I looked at him, I saw him sitting on a mountain of chupacabra bodies.

“That was too long, Marcus! I almost got bored watching you. To think three thousand monsters are this east to kill is pretty boring.”

“Killing three thousand monsters is pretty boring? Clint, your not human if you're able to say that. ” Marcus replied to Clint.

“Forget about that, so how's the feeling of bearing a powerful monster, Marcus? ”

“I wouldn't call it powerful, Clint. But I would say it was tough if it weren't for its stupidity.”

After hearing Marcus, Clint stood up from the mountain of dead bodies and walked towards Marcus. Within just seconds, he already arrived behind Marcus.

“Huh!? When did you get here!? Just a second ago, you were walking.”

Clint put his hand on Marcus's shoulder and spoke, “don't worry about that. Let's grab Lucilia and get out of this place.”

“Oh, that's right, we're here to rescue Lucilia! I almost forgot after the battle with that monster. ”

Marcus immediately rushed towards Lucilia, who the creature just left on the ground. Marcus princess carried Lucilia and walked towards Clint. However, Lucilia was starting to wake up, and the first thing she saw was Marcus's face that had some blood on it.

“Is this a dream?” Lucilia spoke as he touches Marcus's face. But upon feeling the flesh of Marcus.

“Wow, I can't believe that my dream is this realistic. I can almost feel the skin of a real human.”

“Yo! Are you awake, Lucilia?” Clint spoke as he looks down at Lucilia.

“Mister Clint, what...”

Lucilia suddenly realized that she was not in a dream, which led her to panic; and causing Marcus to drop her because of how she moved too much.

When she dropped down, Lucilia felt pain—adding more evidence that she was not dreaming at all. Her face turned entirely red after realizing how embarrassing she acted.

But as they were busy, suddenly Clint looks back at the only exit and tells Marcus.

“Hey, kid! Prepare something dangerous is coming towards our direction.”

Marcus raises his sword once again while pushing Lucilia behind him. Then Marcus felt an ominous aura becoming stronger, walking towards their direction.

“Hey, Marcus, looks like our fight is not over yet.” Mister sword spoke.

Then at their only exit, a man wearing a mask appeared. The aura that Marcus felt was coming from the man. Clint was also in combat stance as they set their gazes on the mysterious masked man.

“So you have killed all of the monsters here? That's a shame. I was planning on continuing my observations on them.” The mysterious man spoke.

Clint yelled, asking the mysterious man his name. “And who the hell are you!?”

The mysterious mask man looked at Clint and replied, “I am... You really don't know Big C, or should I call you Cadmus.”
