On Thursday Jake began his new job at the discount store. Kyle had been right. Most of the work force were gay men. Given his good looks, they all noticed Jake quickly. Everyone was extremely friendly, and Jake got more than his fair share of encouraging smiles. Jerry, who’d been assigned to train him the first day, was knowledgeable, positive, and very supportive. As Jake had never worked in retail, he had some trouble with some of the aspects of the job involving credit cards, returns, and fraud detection. Jerry was very patient, calmly repeating instructions that Jake didn’t quite get the first time. At the end of the day Jake thanked him.
