Luke
I told you that it wasn’t like that! We are just friends. My sister just stood there and rolled her eyes in disbelief. “How do you think that makes me feel?” She said with tears in her eyes. “Samantha, I promise you that me and Luke are just friends.” She turned and walked out the door and slammed it shut.
I stood there with tears in my eyes, not knowing what just even happened. My sister is accusing me of being in love with her boyfriend. We have known Luke since we were in preschool, and I have never had any type of feelings for him. When I think about him , I think about the scrawny little boy with glasses that I met when I was 4.
Samantha had always had a thing for him. From the first day we met him she always told me that they were going to be married one day. Even though she was only 4, she was dead set on him being her husband. Thinking about that made me smile. I remember how her eyes lit up when Luke walked into the room or if he came over and asked her if she wanted to play at recess.
Fourteen years later , she was even more in love with Luke Spencer then she has ever been. Luke loved her too , without a doubt, so why was she accusing me of being in love with him? I dried my eyes and grabbed one of my favorite books and went to my happy place.
Reading takes me to a totally different reality, a break from all the drama that is coming into my life . Drama has always found it’s way into my life, but this is different, this is my twin sister accusing me of something that I would never do.
I hear Luke yelling my name and it snaps me back to reality.”What is it Luke? I’m busy.” “Oh stop being such a brat Ashley! I was only trying to get your attention.” “Your mom wanted me to let you know that dinner is ready and for you to come and eat.”
I grunted and slowly made my way back to the house, not realizing that I was watching Luke strut back to the house. I wonder if he was doing that on purpose. Trying to get me to say something to him. As I walk in to the kitchen I see Samatha already eating dinner and nose in her phone. “Hi mom, what’s for dinner?” I asked already knowing the answer. It was Sunday and everyone knows that Sunday is chicken and mashed potatoes, green beans and corn. Mom just smiled and gave me a wink.
Mom and dad chatted back and forth about what was going on at work. I look up to find Luke staring at me. He quickly looks away and I asked to be excused and head up to my room. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was going on with Luke. He has been acting strange and it is beginning to freak me out .
