Makayla's p.o.v
So much has changed in 1 month. Lucas and Michael graduated highschool. Lucas started working and taking some classes. Michael is taking the summer off and partying with Ashley and some of his other buddies. I am actually glad that Lucas doesn't want to hang out with him, because all Michael has been doing is drinking and getting high. I could smell pot on him. I have learned to mind my business though. I love my brother, but I don't think he wants me in his business. The best thing that has happened this month though is Courtney waking up. A week ago she finally woke up and has slowly kept recovering. She also told her side of the story, but from what our parents were told, the evidence was tampered with and they couldn't get much evidence to prove what we said to be true, so they dropped the case and just told us to be careful and avoid parties in the woods. Now I am on my way to Courtney's house to spend some time with her. I have been staying across the street with my grandparents so that I can be close to her and Lucas. He has been coming home every night and he sneaks in my window when he isn't too tired. We haven't done anything else since prom night, not because we don't want to, but because we are both extremely busy and too tired at the end of the night. I am taking baking classes all day. from 8am-4pm monday through friday and saturdays I help my grandparents at the farmers market.
"Hey girl, how are you feeling today?" I ask her as I take a seat on her bed. "Feeling more like myself" she tells me. "You look good bìtch" I say and she laughs. "Ugh, can you believe that those bìtches got away with what they did to us?" she asks me and I shake my head. "I still can't believe it" I tell her. Such bullshìt if you ask me. Now Ashley, Iris and their friends walk around here with smiles on their faces and we never found out who the guy who helped them was either. We think it might be someone on the football team. I yawn in the middle of what Courtney is saying. "You okay, you look tired Mak?" Court asks me. "I'm fine, just a little tired. I have been feeling really tired lately. I think I have too much going on. I wake up at 6am everyday to make sure I get to school before 8am and I go to sleep until almost 10pm everynight. I'm beat. I been feeling so nauseous too. I am probably coming down with something" I tell her. She eyes me suspiciously, but doesn't say anything. "Lets go sit outside for a bit, I need some sun" Courtney tells me and I help her up and outside. We sit in the front porch. We sit in complete silence and people watch. We watch people come and go from Omar's house. "Is he having a day party?" Court asks, but I shrug. We continue our conversation. "I am thinking of leaving after high school. I want to go to Italy" Courtney tells me. "No, that's too far away from me. I will miss you too much." I tell her. "Hey" we hear someone yell. We look up and across the street Omar is waving at us. He walks over to us. "Hey girls, I'm having a small party tonight. Come over" he says. "We'll see" I tell him so he can leave us alone. "Michael and Lucas will be here" he says. Courtney's head swings over to me. I am sure Michael will be there, but Lucas hasn't mentioned it. He and Omar don't seem like they are friends. "That's cool, well we might stop by."I say. "Cool" he says and walks back across, waving at us as he leaves. "We aren't going are we?" Courtney asks. "Fùck no" I tell her. "Even if Lucas will be there" she asks me. "Not even if Lucas is there." I tell her. She laughs. "If Lucas goes to that party, we will go drag him out." she tells me, now laughing. "If he wants to go to the party, he should go Courtney. He deserves to go out and have fun with people his age too. He works too hard, he deserves a break." I tell her. She rolls her eyes.
Lucas p.o.v
Things have been so hectic lately. I got the hang of what will be my new schedule pretty quickly, but I do miss Makayla all day long. I was so used to seeing her around school, now I only see her when I get home at night. We don't even spend much time together though, because she has been taking her baking classes and staying at her grandparents so she is always tired with everthing she has going on. Michael called me to invite me to a small get together tonight and I promised him I would go. Luckily it is just next door at Omar's house so I don't have to be far from Mak in case she doesn't feel like going.
I finally finish with everything and I head home. I pull up and greet my parents. I shower and get dressed and grab some clothes to stay with Makayla after the party. I eat dinner with my parents and head over to see my girl and drop this off before the party. I knock on the door and her grandpa answers. "Hey son, come in" he says and moves over so I can walk inside. "She's in her room. She's feeling a little under the weather" her grandma says and I rush over to make sure she is alright. "Mak" I say as I walk inside the room. She is lying in the middle of the bed with the covers up to her chin. "What's wrong?" I ask her. "I don't know Lucas. I started feeling very bad for some reason. Maybe it was something I ate. I probably got food poisoning" she tells me. "Let me cancel on your brother" I tell her. "No, No Lucas, whatever you have planned, don't cancel because I am sick. I don't want to get you sick. Just go" she tells me. "No baby, I have to take care of you. There will be other parties" I tell her. "No Lucas, it's fine. I will be here once the party is over. Maybe I will be feeling better by then. Don't worry about me. Go have fun" she tells me and I nod, reluctantly. I really don't want to leave her alone, but she is right next door. I will go for a bit then come take care of her. No worries.
