CHAPTER 1 It was dawn.The chilly dust-laden wind formed dense fog on the road.Thee rocky hills and the tall trees made green hills a beautiful town. The birds sang aloud and clanging of stainless dishes in the neighbourhood suggested human activity was at its peak. Humans had begun to move to their various destinations. Grace had trouble with child bearing and her husband worried. Then she booked an appointment with her doctor. After several tests. The doctor suggested the couple be patient and that she will surely take in. Not too long after, Grace was pregnant. After several months, Grace delivered of a boy. The women in her neighbourhood, alongside the children,came to her home to celebrate with her. Her husband,FREDRICK,thanked the lord and named the boy romeo. AS romeo grew,his mom had another child named stacy. Romeo was a smart kid and his parents were struggling to make ends meet. As poverty stared them in the face, his mom who was a part-time worker engaged into full-time jobs to support the family.Romeo attended a public school. but he was withdrawn to a private school because he was struggling with his studies.The change worked wonders as romeo began to do well. He improved tremendously. Everyone, including his parents,were amazed. Romeo's dad sold an old house of his to buy a car in order to become a cab driver.One day, romeo and stacy were returning from school when they decided to visit the car park to see if their dad could take them home. As they approached the park,there was a commotion. Romeo wondered what might have caused the disturbance.When they got nearer the children saw their dad and a passenger engaging in an argument. Before they could blink, their dad and the passenger started exchanging blows from one end of the park to the other.Were it not for the other passengers that pounced on fredrick, his blows could have brought the man to his knees. They outnumbered him and landed heavy blows on his neck,sweeping him off his feet. Romeo tried stopping the fight but his effort was like a tiny fly at the back of a horse. As they continued to pummel him, harry fredrick's colleague intervened. harry was an imposing figure. He could work a body to hell by the mere wave of his hand. Harry resolved the problem and asked fredrick to give the client his money.Fredrick made refund. Causing further disturbance at the ark could get him into trouble.After the dust had settled, he noticed his children by the corner looking pale and broken at him. Fredrick adjusted his shirt and signaled them to get in the car. Quietly, they opened the door and entered. Fredrick ignited his engine and drove off. When they got home, everyone alighted from the car and quietly walked into the house. His wife, Grace came to welcome them. Her husband had been bruised and wore a long face. "What happened?" she asked him, staring at him directly in the eyes. Fredrick hissed and exclaimed, "i had a brawl with one of my clients. We had an agreement before i took him to his destination, he alighted and payed me. But when i gave him his balance, he started agitating that i gave him an incorrect balance, but before i could explain, we started exchanging blows. As we shared blows from one end of the park to the other, some passengers joined the fight and they overwhelmed me" "WHAT?" she exclaimed. "that's unfair" "There's no need to yell. it's over now. Get me something to eat. am starving and i think i have an headache" Grace ran to get the first aid. she applied some medications on his bruises and treated his wound with metholated spirit. it was a long night for them. They never had it rough. After dinner, the family prayed together and put the day behind them. Months later, Fredrick was tired of using his car, he felt it was not his destiny to drive people around. He wanted a new challenge, so he sold his car and invested the money in a*****e where he sold groceries. The business was a big hit cause people who normally travel far distance to buy groceries now patronize him. Rome's education had been going on uninterruptedly. Now he was in high school at Great Vision College, green hills. And he also became famous as the son of the only grocery store owner in the town. TO BE CONTINUED......
