Chapter 12: So, What Now?

1327 Words
Sitting back against the plush couch, my stomach was as full as i could get it. The salty fries and juicy burger were the exact substance I needed. Sighing, I leaned back, half jumping when I remembered exactly where I was. Looking over, the extraordinary creature next to me met my gaze. His eyes were softer when he gazed towards me, softer than in the last twenty-four hours, and even for an un-dead being, he looked tired. I anxiously rubbed my hands on my thighs, the soft cotton sweats absorbing some of my nerves. I still had so many questions to ask, so many answers I needed to figure out. First, what exactly does my new prison hold for me, and how to escape? Even with his kindness, I am not some pet you can leash. I also need to figure out the charges, and as kind as he has been, I am not fully trustworthy of this vampire. "Are you alright?" His voice, like smooth whiskey, still caused me to jump slightly from my never-ending thoughts. "I am." I said shortly, looking over, he has not budged from his position next to me. His leg came up, his ankle resting on his knee. His arm casually spread along the back of the couch. "You're heart's racing." He said calmly, leaning closer, "I can hear it dear." His breath was close to my face and smelt like fresh mint. Scooting against the arm of the couch, I snapped slightly, "That won't help." I could feel the blush creeping up my neck. As much as I tried to deny it, he was incredibly handsome. "Oh?" He chuckled as he leaned back and stared at me. "What is on your mind then?" His eyes glistened red as he looked at me. I fought the desire to spill every thought that crossed my mind. Even the naughtier ones… "Tell me... Little fox." The words came out slowly and like a lullaby to me. I couldn't fight the trance of his blood-pooled eyes. "I want to know everything. Why me? Why am I bonded to you? I am a walking food cart here!" My voice rose for a moment as anger fueled through me. "My father, and what is going on with my case. Was he just drunk or did he really mean what he did?.. Why would my own sister try and kill me? I want to know if I am bound to be here for an eternity to be some pet to you." I could feel the tear slip down my cheek, staring at him in his cold eyes, as the information was stripped from my mouth. "Stop.. Please.." I said quietly. Thanking the gods that I hadn't said how I wanted to escape.. "Very well." I felt the tension cord between us snap. I took a shaking breath and stood quickly getting on the other side of the table. "I understand your questions, and I will give you answers." Pausing my retreating feet I stood still for a moment. "Your father is facing all the charges, you are a free human woman. He will pay severely." He paused again. I turned to face him, feeling no sense of relief in his words, and he was behind me. Stumbling back, he gently caught my arms. "But you, here. Are mine. You are the fated and perfect mate for me. I have gone over this." He sighed, as his steel-metal eyes met mine once again. "You will adjust to life here." In a breath we were back in my room. The curtains swaying inward, my hair on my face and in knots like my gut. His rough fingers gently moved the strands from my face. My emotions swirled in my chest. I have never felt so scared and aroused at once. He was claiming me in a way no other person had dared. Also, he is not giving me much of a choice. I have had boyfriends but nothing this serious. "You can't do that," I said quietly. "I'm sorry, I forgot to warn you." He said softly, pulling my chin upward gently with his fingers. I met his eyes. "No. You can't pull that trance, lock me in place, bull s**t anymore." I demanded softly. His brows furrowed together as he took a step back. "Only if you don't lie to me," His head tilted slightly sideways, and I clammed my mouth shut tightly. "I didn't." I said. "Then don't hold information back." He said with a smile, and he knew he had me there. "I will leave you for bed. I know the sun will be up in a few hours, but you could use some sleep. I will be gone most of the morning, but I will see you in the afternoon." Before I could breathe a word, he was gone. Leaving me feeling several different emotions. Huffing, I turned around to face the massive fluffy bed. Pacing closer to it, I slipped on the sneakers James had bought me. Crawling onto the bed, I plopped into the center. Resting my face against its welcoming coolness, I laid there quietly. The beds' softness lulls me. So much has happened in the last few weeks. I had barely processed my mother's death, and my father blamed me, again, for something I didn't do. This time not getting away with it. Maybe it wasn't a bad thing.. My brain swam in a dizzying hurricane as it started to throb. Groaning, I shifted further up the bed and pulled the massive fluffy cover over myself. It blanketed me, the warmth mixing with my caving thoughts. I woke under the covers, drenched in sweat. My breath came fast from my chest, although I don't remember falling asleep. Peeking my head out, I saw sun-rays playing peek-a-boo with the flowing curtains. Rubbing my eyes, I pulled myself up to sit. My head aches as I look around. The quiet, allowing the sound of birds' songs to carry through the window. The sound would be beautiful if my head did not ache so badly. Shimming to the edge of the bed, I walked slowly toward the bathroom. The all-white stunning room held a massive clawfoot tub. My eyes were groggy and heavy still with sleep. The double marbled sink sits along a wall with a massive mirror hanging above. Walking to the toilet, I relived myself, the bath enticing me more than the shower. Only for a moment though, as the thought of nearly drowning runs through my brain. Shaking the thoughts, I wash my hands and look at myself in the mirror. My eyes looked like dulled emeralds staring back at me, and I had definitely lost some weight. The baggy clothes did very little for my thin figure. My frizzy hair in all directions. Sighing, I glanced down at the marbled counter. A hairbrush sat on top of a pile of clothes, a folded note set neatly on top. Grabbing the note, I opened it. Had your bathroom stocked. More clothes in your closet if you don't approve of my choice. J. The neat handwriting was in cursive. Setting it down, I see a brand-new toothbrush and paste in their box as well. I missed all this in the night?.. Unless he was in here while I was asleep.. Looking around the bathroom, I padded over and locked the door shut. Walking back over, I picked up the fabric he supplied. The simple sundress was tank-top style but with an open back. The small dark skulls were surrounded by daisies on the white cloth. The pattern was simple, and honestly I found it cute. There was also a pair of black lace cheeky panties but no bra. At least it wasn't a thong.. Turning, I walked to the shower and started it. Stepping in, after I strip, and letting the hot water wash over me and blue out the real world.
