Chapter 13: Fighter or Lover.

1100 Words
Dressing after my shower, I use the towel and gently dry my hair. Running the brush through the not, before gently drying it one more time with the towel, hanging it in its place. The hot steam seeped out of the bathroom as I opened the door slowly. Walking out slowly, the tile was cold on my bare feet, but what caught my attention was a package wrapped shut with a beautiful black bow. Looking around, no one was there. Walking forward, I saw another note. The outside had my name written in old-style cursive. Big arches, and looping elegantly. Picking it up, I unfolded it, revealing the message. This is the only thing I can find for you, for now. Enjoy. J. Setting it beside the box, I looked down on the made bed. The box sat elegantly, it was all matte black, like a dark gloomy night. Gently I pulled the ribbon, it fell loosely from its place. Lifting the flat rectangular lid, it reveals red tissue from the inside, gently lifting it too, I see a full supply kit. It had all the basic starting for paining and sketching. I had never received anything like this. Putting the tissue and lid down, I stepped two steps back. My heart is thundering in my ears. What is wrong with me? This man should terrify me, he should be the thing I run from. It doesn't make any sense, and is this love-bombing a way to reel me in? Or is he just trying to get to know me? Sighing, I turned away and looked out the balcony. The doors were still open, and the gentle breeze from before was gone. Walking forward, I saw something else that wasn't there before, an art isle. Smiling, I walked closer and touched its wooden frame. "I thought you might enjoy something to do." The husky voice sounded from behind me. Turning, I saw James in a formal tux. The all black only made his gray eyes shine like stars. He leaned casually against the door frame to his room. "Do you always make a habit of scaring people?" I shot towards him, but he only smiled widely. "I do love to frighten some." His teasing tone seemed far too playful. I just looked at myself waiting. What was I supposed to say to that? In a flash, he was in front of me. His tall figure towering over my small frame. "Do I scare you?" His voice sounded playful, but his eyes suggested more. "Hardly." I met his eyes, and gulped down the lie. Putting on a brave face, much like his emotionless one, I stood before him. His harsh eyes met mine, and for a moment I saw a flicker of red. "You look beautiful in this," He changed the topic to the outfit he had picked, grabbing the hem along my collarbone gently. He traced his finger along my shoulder and down my arm. Pulling my hand to his, I felt frozen like a deer in headlights. Every fiber in my being felt drawn to put myself closer to him, to let him show me this new world. However, another small part, did not want to lay down and obey. "You feel it too, don't you?" His question took me off guard. "Feel what?" My eyes trailed down to our feet. "You know what." His simple answer sounded soft and gentle, he took another step toward me and lifted my chin to face him. "This." He motioned between us. "You can't fight me." He joked as he wiggled his brows. Rolling my eyes, I stepped back again, trying to create some distance that seemed to be thinning. "I can try." I looked him in his face as my back hit the railing. Looking down, I saw nothing but grass below. When I looked back, he was standing inches from me again. "Nowhere to go, little fox," he said playfully. "I know you feel the bond too. I hear your heart, its fluttering as fast as hummingbird wings." He wasn't wrong either. My heart felt like exploding, and I couldn't get my thoughts straight with him so close. "Can you back up some?" I asked quietly, but he did not budge, nor did he say a word. "I'm not the one you should fear here," he said softly after a few moments of tense silence. "I will be back in a few hours for dinner. If you get hungry, find the twins." He looked at me softly. His hand came up to my cheek and I caught myself leaning into him. Leaning in, he planted a kiss onto my lips. His soft lips crushed against mine, sending fireworks and fireflies off like sparks. I kissed him back without thinking, and it felt right. Just as quickly as he kissed me, he was gone. Touching my lips that still tingled with the lingering of his lips against mine. I have kissed boys, girls too, but nothing compared to what I just felt. My stomach turned and twisted with emotion. Walking numbly to bed, I picked up some supplies. This was my way of escaping. ~James POV~ Standing outside on the balcony, I could hear Athena's shower running. The water is spilling down the drain, and her heart rate hasn't stopped its rhythmic tune. It called to me and the demon within in every way. I know that the girl wants to leave, I can hear it in her thoughts. She will learn to be happy here, with me. We are fated. Walking into my room, I heard her shower door slide as she went out. I pace as I finish getting ready for a meeting. This one will decide the fate of her father. He sits rotting in my dungeon cell. Her small feet padded along the floor. Five minutes went by, and I could hear the rustling of the present I had left. Walking to the entrance of the balcony, I could smell the sweet scent she carried with her. I watch as she finds the second gift on the balcony. Watching her smile, I felt the smallest sense of pride. I did something right for her. I do want to win her over, but women here were different. They threw themselves at me, begging to be the next Queen. I had found her though, and I would not let her get away. I wasn't going to say goodbye...but what could it hurt? I felt myself smiling to myself as I leaned against the frame preparing to do something daring....
