I get up and make my way downstairs. “Where are you off to already?” My mom asks. “I am going for a run, don’t wait up.” I say. I take my clothes off and stuff them in my bag and change. It feels good to let my wolf out. Marx has been locked up way too long. I run well into the night before I stumble across a scent that makes me stop. I creep around the woods until I can see lights up ahead. I lay down in the leaves to blend myself in to watch a woman who is just sitting there reading a book. She leans against a tree. Mate. Marx says in my head. Well f**k.
The mate bond between two wolves is instant. The attractive, the love, everything is instant. Once mated and marked, the mind link clicks into place so that your wolves can communicate with one another in and out of human form. It also allows you to communicate with members of your pack. Most pack members can communicate through the mind link, but outsiders need to be like inducted. It’s all very weird and complicated. I enjoyed being in the human world, not under so much pressure of becoming alpha and finding my mate. Sure, I dated, had protected s*x and what not, but it was just that. Being a wolf means you are fit and have energy for days. I am 6 foot 3, a solid 200 pounds, I have jet black hair and green eyes. The green eyes are what got most of the girls I have been with. Most girls like me for how I look. I’ve even been asked to do some modeling, but that’s not me. I wanted to be taken seriously in college, not some meat head. Coaches tried to recruit me into sports, but I had an unfair advantage.
I watch her for what seems like hours. Eventually, she closes her book and starts walking away from the water. I follow as quietly as my paws allow me until she gets into a car that was parked near the road. I watch as she takes off and I stay in the woods and follow until I see her park her car. I change in the woods and walk out on the sidewalk and follow her scent. I smell around her car and follow her into a building. She must live here. I smile. I go to knock on her door, but then I realize that might not be a good idea. She is not a wolf, so she can’t sense me like I can her.
I retreat to the woods where I let Marx take the lead and find a spot safe enough to sleep. I train my ears to see if I can find her voice. Eventually, I find it. “You know, I went out to the woods today and read a book.” “Yes, all by myself.” “Good night.” I hear her say.
Kailey Rae Grant
I wake up feeling ready to take on today. I have class. I am so ready to be done with all my classes. Once this semester is over, I graduate, move, and start my new life. I have an opportunity to work as an artist in Italy and I cannot wait. My parents aren’t too thrilled, but they will adapt. I go to class, and I usually sit in the back, and I see a guy walk in and sit at the other end of the row. Being this close to the end of the semester, you usually don’t see new faces. I look over at him and he smiles, and I blush. I know I do; I am terrible at hiding it.
I go about my day and when classes are over, I go home, do my homework, go to work, come back and crash. Working at a bar at night, I make good tips, but it is still exhausting. And being a woman, makes it worse. I just crash.
LIAM
I made sure she got home okay. I found out that she has a fire escape and I climb up it and find her floor. I look around and check the window. She left it unlock. Silly girl. I make my way inside and I find her sleeping on the bed. She looks like she just fell on it and that is where she landed. I stand there and look at her. I take in all her soft features. My d**k starts to twitch in my jeans. I eventually go look around her apartment. It’s small, but it works for her. She’s got a bedroom, a bathroom, a small little kitchen in the corner, a sofa that has seen better days and a table that has her backpack on it. I see her phone on the table. I grab it and look at it. I go back to her bedroom and put it in front of her face to unlock it.
I look through her most recent messages.
Amy: Do you see the hottie that just walked in?
Kailey: You mean the one at the end of my row?
Amy: Yes!
Kailey: yeah, I see him. He smiled at me, and I am probably as red as a tomato.
Amy: If he shows up in class next time, you better sit closer to him.
Kailey: He’s probably a scout or something. Plus no one looks that good and is single.
Amy: well, it’s not like I can exactly move from my seat since I am a nerd and sit in front.
Kailey: you’re not a nerd, you just can’t see.
Amy: Fair point. But do it for me.
Kailey: Maybe.
I find her charger and put her phone on charge. So, her name is Kailey. She has a friend named Amy and they think I am hot. This might actually work as I creep around her apartment more. Standing here though, watching her sleep is definitely not helping Marx. He keeps chanting in my head to lay with her and my d**k is agreeing with him. I slip out and go home.
