Scarlett
So many things were playing endlessly in my head as I saw his retreating figure until he vanished completely.
" Scarlett?" I was pulled out of my chain of thoughts as my father called my name and shook me by my arm.
" Huh?"
" We need to get away from here," he said to me, looking at my eyes.
" Why?" I asked him in confusion.
" Why? Why? You are asking me why? Can't you see?" He said in a serious tone. I looked at him in confusion. Why is he acting this way when Luke is the one that saved me and him?
" I don't understand," I said, looking at him.
" He is the reason why we are stuck here and he is the person that wants to kill me," he said through gritted teeth.
" What?" I said in disbelief. I stared at my father blankly as his words rang in my ears.
" How?" I breathed out. Unable to believe what my father said. How could he act so innocently? That is the reason why he said he would help me to find my father.
" Scarlett," my father called my name, taking me out of my thoughts as she shook my shoulders slightly. I didn't know I was trembling in fear, thinking I was a lamb who had walked straight into the lion's den.
" Don't be afraid. I will get us out of here," he said. I stared at him, fear evident in my eyes.
" How," I managed to say. My brain completely blacked out in fear of that man. Of what he is capable of doing.
I saw him looking everywhere in the room for God knows what and then he left, going behind me. I didn't have the energy to look back where he was going. All I did was stand there as endless thoughts of what he would do to us played in my mind.
" Scarlett," my father called me, making me turn around to see he was standing near the window that was attached to the balcony.
I reluctantly walked to him, making my way to the balcony.
" We have to jump from here," he revealed, making me gasp as I looked down. I am afraid of heights and there is no way I am going to jump from here. I knew if I jumped from there I would not stand up in one piece.
" I can't," I stuttered, looking back at him.
" We have to if you want to live," he said.
" He will probably kill me and I don't want you to end up in his hands," he added, making me flinch.
" Who is he? And why is he behind you? Why does he want to kill you? What have you done?" I asked the questions that had been eating from inside for so long. He drew in a sharp breath, making me nervous all of a sudden as I was not ready for what was going to come next.
" I did something I shouldn't have done before meeting him. I betrayed him and he is not the one who will let anyone slide with betrayal," he said. Looking out of the balcony towards the dense forest.
" I stole the proof of his and his men's real identity and gave it to his enemies who will hand it to the government to wipe his entire race out," he confessed. I gasped, both of my hands flew up to my mouth as I stared at him with wide eyes.
" How could you? You didn't even think for a second before doing something like this?" I blamed his tears brimming in my eyes.
" I did this to save you, damn it," he shouted at me, suddenly making me flinch.
" I…. I….. I….. I trailed off, not knowing what else to say.
" If we stand here any longer without making any move, believe me, he will come here and drag me out and I don't know if I will ever see you again," he said, and I unconsciously nodded.
" I am ready," I said as I drew in a long breath to calm my erratic heart down.
" Jump after me," he said, and I nodded at him. He gave me a nod before jumping down from the balcony. I immediately looked down to see if he was okay. I sighed in relief as soon as I saw him standing up on his feet looking up at me to jump.
Sweat broke on my forehead and I closed my eyes, taking a long breath. I opened my eyes again and, without thinking anything any more, I climbed up on the railing and jumped.
A sharp pain shot through my leg and my arm, but the intense pain in my shoulder made me groan, making my eyes teary.
" Scarlett, are you okay," my father said, coming to me as he crouched down at my level. I shook my head and tried to get up to fall on the ground once again.
" Let me help you baby. We don't have much time," he said and grabbed me by my shoulder, making me yelp in pain.
" They will catch us if we don't make a move now," he said, and I nodded before pushing myself to get up.
I stood up, grabbing my injured shoulder, trying to make as little sound as possible.
I looked at my father and only nodded at him and he nodded back before we both looked around to see if there was anyone and when we saw everything was clear and we could move now, my father grabbed my wrist and we both ran towards the dense forest with only one thing in mind we needed to survive this. We had to survive this.
My lungs started to burn as we ran through the trees. I was running behind my father. We were running for 20 minutes now and still didn't know where we were going. Tears were making my vision blurred as the event from the other night came back to me flooded, the night when that wolf tried to eat me. I hope nothing like that happens right now.
All my thoughts were broken when I suddenly collided with the back of my father and faltered back. I placed my hand on my injured shoulder and looked at his back in confusion, but when my gaze shifted from him to towards the scene, dread washed over me.
Luke was standing and feet away from us, glaring at my father. There were five of his men who were standing next to him.
" Going somewhere?" He taunted.
Our worst nightmare came alive when I saw his expression. My heart froze as a chilling sensation ran down from my spine. I gulped, looking at the deadly man in front of us. If what my father said about this was true, then that was it.
" Thought you could escape from my territory?" He asked as he c****d his head ever so slightly.
" Please let me explain," my father said. Fear was dripping from his voice, which made things worse for me.
" There is no explanation, only consequences," he said as his voice held finality.
" I was being nice to you even after you betrayed me," he said. I looked at him puzzled, because of his voice, which didn't sound like him. It was different, more deep and grave.
" Now let's start. Shall we," he said.
" Ran," my father whispered to me and I shook my head no. Not this time. I won't leave him this time.
More men came out of the trees, making my eyes wide in horror. God knows what he is going to do with us.
Before I could process anything, my father was dragged away by two of his men.
" Leave him," I yelled.
" Let's make a deal now," he said, smirking at my father.
" You betrayed me twice but I will not do anything to you… luke trailed off as his eyes landed on mine.
" No!!!" My father shouted.
I took a step back from where I was standing, making him more angry.
A gasp left my mouth when he reached me in the blink of an eye. My heart fell into my stomach as soon as our eyes met. His eyes were completely black as a night sky without any stars or light. He kept staring at me with his black soulless eyes, making my knees weak.
What kind of situation have we got ourselves into? I knew he was not human from what I had just witnessed and I also knew there was no way out of this now. Tears rolled down from my eyes as I saw him smirking down at me.
