~RAVENNA~ Life had a cruel way of slapping one's face with the harsh reality. I've always told myself to be prepared for anything but nothing could have prepared for this moment. I clenched my hand slightly as I watched my mate pushes me aside as soon as his first love, Rebecca showed up. It was almost like he was in a love trance and no one else existed. I didn't exist. I could hear the whispers all around as some flashed me sympathetic stares while some had smug looks on their face. Those ones Were the ones who believed I was never good enough for Sean since he was the Alpha’s son. I was nothing but a lowly omega with no origin so of course they all felt that way but Sean, he always assured me that no matter what the people thought of said, I was always going to be his number one choice and he couldn't wait to make me his Luna. Although as I looked at him practically throwing himself at her feet, I wondered If that was ever true. “Maybe we should head back to the pack house?” I heard a voice behind me. It was James, Sean's best friend and I didn't need to turn around to know that he was staring at me with pity. “It's my party, why should I leave?” I replied without turning to him and taking a bold step, I walked towards Sean and Rebecca who were so engrossed in each other that they hadn't even noticed me. I had heard a lot about their relationship before Sean and I knew we were mates. I heard that Sean had been madly in love with her but Rebecca had another plan for her future and one day, she just disappeared without an explanation. “You must be Rebecca” I uttered loudly and they both immediately turned to me. Sean's eyes widened as if just realizing that they weren't alone. Everyone was staring at us at this point, anticipating the next move. “And you must be the birthday girl. Sorry to barge in like this but Sean kept telling me he really wanted to see me so we decided today was best. I hope you don't mind?” She questioned as she batted her eyelashes innocently at me but I knew she was indirectly trying To tell me that Sean never cut contact with her even though that was what he told me and that she was here because he asked her to be here. “I recently just got her number back and really just wanted to see her again. It has been years” He hurriedly said in an attempt to explain himself but nothing he could say would stop my chest from tightening painfully but I tried my best not to show it. “What's your name?” Rebecca asked and I forced a smile on my face. “It's Ravenna” I told her and she furrowed her eyebrows then turned to Sean who had a perplexed look on her face. “How come you never spoke about her, Sese?” She questioned and I clenched my fist tighter as my whole body shook with fury. Sean seemed to notice my change in mood so he turned to me and grabbed my arm but I refused to look him in the Eye. “Ravenna…” He halted when the slow dance music suddenly started “Oh this is my favourite song! Is this your favorite song too, Ravenna?” Rebecca asked as she turned to me and only then did I meet Sean's eyes. He had suggested this song. As a matter of fact, this was his favorite song. Turns out, all this while, he had been thinking of her. That thought almost made me double over from pain as my heart clenched painfully but I managed to stand my ground even though my legs were sharing. “Ravenna…” Sean began as Panic settled down on his tone, Like he finally knew he had f****d up but before he could complete his sentence, Rebecca pulled him away from me, interlacing her fingers with his. “You don't mind if I steal him for a sec, right? I really want to dance to this song with him. Just like old times” Rebecca uttered and Sean frowned before turning to her. “I can't…” “I don't mind. Before anyone could see my crying, I turned around and walked away as fast as I could. James and Freya, my best friend, were already behind me as soon as I stepped out of the venue. I didn't utter a word as we walked towards the car. Only when we were in did I let the tears roll down my cheeks. What was worse? Sean didn't come after me. I kept staring back at the hall, hoping, wishing that he would come After me or at least act like he cared but he didn't. Freya tried calming me down but nothing she Said could make me feel better. Today was supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life. I never used to celebrate my birthday. Usually, I spend it hanging out with Freya and Sean.
