11: What is happening ?

*Kaisa*  “Are you sure you are okay ?” We are back in my room and I run my fingers over the half moon shaped scar on his shoulder, which is the only reminder of the bite already. It seems like he is a fast healer, even for a wolf.  “Yeah, I mean at least physically. The bite has healed”. He pulls me into his arms. “But this scares me, that it wasn’t an isolated incident”.  I nod against his chest. “Me too, I have never seen anything like that”.  “I have, but that doesn’t make it less scary. Could this be some kind of illness ? I mean this guy had nothing to do with anyone in my old pack, did he ?” His voice is part questioning, part worried.  “An illness ? That’s actually not a stupid thought. And no, he has been to town lately, doing some work”. I bite my lip thoughtfully. “How do we find out ?”  He closes his eyes shortly, like trying to focus on his thoughts. “It’s a good question, to be honest, I have no real expertise here”.  “Me neither”. I take out my phone, sending a text to my sister. “I have told my sister to look into it”.  “Does that mean you have a bit of time for… other stuff ?” He asks softly, taking my phone and placing it on the table, before pulling me back into his arms.  I look up at him. “What other stuff ?”   “Well I had a very traumatic experience, I could need some… comforting”. He wiggles his eyebrows.  “Oh my moon goddess, are you always this subtle ?” I shake my head at him.  He chuckles and his mouth starts nibbling down my neck. “Nope, mostly I am much more direct”.  My body and my wolf honestly just wants to give into him, it is beyond just lust, it is like a feeling that we have to become one, that there is like a part of me not being complete before I am fully his.  “Dacian, we should..”. I gasp as his teeth grazes over that spot, the one on the base of my neck, the spot where we she wolves mark our mates.  “Oh yes we definitely should”. His voice is a soft growl as his fingers dig into my hips, pulling me closer to him. “We very much should”.  I am lost in his touch and his hands on my skin for a moment, then I manage to take a step back, Solstraale whimpering, she doesn’t want him to stop. “That wasn’t what I meant Dacian… we shouldn’t.. Or we should, but just not now”.   “You are right, of course you are”. He says with a soft sigh, snuggling his face against my neck. “Achak is just… very impatient”.  “I see that”. I giggle. “No worries, actually Solstraale is… quite impatient too… it’s just with all these, as the Alpha I need to focus”.  He gently strokes my cheek. “I know my love, and I respect that.  “Thank you”. I lean in and kiss him softly.  *Tisha*  “Okay if you are going to the full moon pack anyway, you can enquire if they know anything, that is better than calling”. I tell our beta Clint.  I had gotten a text from my sister, asking if I could look into if other packs have had any experiences with this thing, so we can figure out if it might be a virus of some kind we are dealing with.  “Yeah, sure”. He nods. “I will ask if they have had any incidents or have heard anything”.  “Thanks”. I give him a smile. The Alpha of the full moon pack is a bit old fashioned, and I know she will be more open to talk about problems face to face, than over the phone. “Be extra careful on the trip and call me if there is anything”.  He nods as he takes a couple of steps backwards. “I will Alpha Tisha. And call if you need me to come back”.  “I will”. I tell him with a smile.   He is going there to visit his family, as his mother remarried into the full moon pack, after losing her first mate.  After he leaves, I make calls to some of the other packs, to hear if someone has experienced the same. Turns out two other packs have had similar experiences in the last few days. In one, a young woman suddenly went crazy and killed her mate. In another two fighters went crazy and killed five pack members and hurt two others before they were taken down.  I sigh, resting my head in my hands. What are we to do if this spreads ? If this is really infectious in some way. I can’t stand the thought of anyone in my pack getting hurt.  “Alpha Tisha”. I hear a small voice and when I look up the little girl with the chocolate curls touches my cheek. “You look so sad”.  “Nothing you should worry about Lara, just grown up stuff”. I push a smile forward. “What have you been up to all day ?”  She looks all excited. “I had lessons, I am getting very good at math”.  “Oh that is great sweetie, I am very proud of you”. I say, giving her a genuine smile this time. The kids of the pack never fail to cheer me up.  “Thank you Alpha Tisha”. She beams with happiness. “I will continue to work hard, so I can get smart and do good for the pack”.  I hug her. “Just remember to be a kid too, and play with your friends… that is just as important”.  “Of course”. She grins. “Only thing I love more than School is playing with my friends”.  “That’s good”. I ruffle her hair. “Now run along”.  She skips towards the door. “See you Tisha.. uhh Alpha Tisha”.  “Tisha is fine”. I say. “Oh and Lara”. I call, making her stop and turn. “Be careful, if someone acts strange, get away… tell your friends too, okay ?”  “Okay Tisha”. She nods and then she leaves.
