TheMessage
I headed towards my favorite spot to be by myself. It was a combination of a spring and a water fountain.
I always went there whenever I wanted to be alone and/or think.
It was in a somewhat secluded place on the very edge of our pack territory.
I reached it and sat on the edge.
While nothing was bothering me, this place was where I felt safest and at home in this pack’s territory.
I glanced down at the water and noticed the blurry image of a woman.
At least I think it was a woman. It was hard to tell because of the way the water distorted the image.
“ Good evening, little one.”
I jumped back a little.
I didn’t see the mouth move, but I was positive that I had just heard a voice.
“ Don’t be afraid. You’re perfectly safe.”
I caught my breath and leaned back towards the water.
“ Sorry for startling you, little one. But I have an important message that I must convey.”
“Oh,” I said a little intrigued.
“ Yes, tonight there will be a gathering at the fire pit and an elder will warn the pack. Then the elder will ask for someone to volunteer for an important mission that will save your pack.
You, little one, will be the one to volunteer. It is your destiny to help this pack.”
I couldn’t help but be a little taken aback.
I was one of the lowest members of the pack. I wasn’t bullied per-say but no one really interacted with me either. I just went about my day, and they went about theirs, only interacting when necessary.
“ Trust me, my child, this is very important.”
I nodded my head, not sure what else I could do or say.
And just like that, the blurry image faded, and I was left looking back at just plain water.
As I headed back into my pack territory, I couldn’t help but wonder what this important mission could be.
