Chapter Four Two World Her POV When I opened my eyes, the first thing I noticed was how strange everything felt. The soft light, the heavy curtains, the walls carved with symbols I didn’t recognize… this wasn’t my office, it wasn’t my apartment, and it sure wasn’t my world. I tried to sit up, my head spinning, and that’s when I realized I wasn’t in a regular bed. The sheets were fine, almost luxurious, but the whole room… it felt like it belonged to someone important. Someone dangerous. My heart skipped a beat. I remembered the car… the man driving… and how tired I had been. I must have fallen asleep there. But how did I end up here? I looked around and saw guards moving in and out, their eyes sharp, their posture rigid. They didn’t look human—something about them made me instinctively pull the blanket closer around me. I had no idea what was happening, and fear and confusion twisted in my chest like a knife. Then I saw him. Mr. William. He was standing near a closet, pulling on a long dark coat with golden trim. The way he moved was different, commanding, alpha-like, something I had never seen in the human world. He turned slightly, and his eyes met mine. My stomach dropped. “Mr. William?” I asked, my voice trembling. “How… how did I get here? What are you doing here?” He smirked, and the smile made me shiver. “I told you to,” he said, calm and certain, like he had been waiting for this moment. “I… I don’t understand,” I stammered. “Where am I? What is this place? Why… why am I here, Mr. William” He walked closer, slow and steady. “Don’t call me Mr. William here,” he said, a hint of amusement in his voice. “Call me Damian. In this world… that’s who I am.” I blinked at him, completely shocked. “Damian?” My voice barely carried. “But… you’re the CEO in my world. The man everyone knows, the one I’ve read about… Why are you—here? And… and what is this place?” He smiled, calm, but there was a weight to it, a gravity I couldn’t shake. “I knew you’d ask. You’ve been wondering, even before now. Every time the news says I’m traveling for business… this is where I go. My other world. My pack. My people. My territory.” I felt my stomach twist. My mind refused to catch up. “Your… pack? You’re… an alpha?” I whispered, my hands gripping the sheets. “But… you’re Mr. William. The CEO. How… how does this make sense?” He leaned against the side of the bed, his gaze softening slightly. “It’s the same me,” he said quietly. “One is for the human world, one is for the pack. Two sides. Both true. Both real.” I tried to process it, but I couldn’t. My head was pounding, my thoughts spinning. “Then… why did you help me? Why… pick me up from there? I… I don’t even know what’s going on, and you just… brought me here. Why?” For the first time, his smile faded, replaced by something calmer, warmer, almost human. He stepped closer and crouched beside the bed. “I could see you were in trouble,” he said softly. “I knew you were tired. You were alone, scared, and… I couldn’t leave you like that.” I swallowed hard, a lump forming in my throat. My chest felt tight, my hands trembling. “But… why? Why care? You don’t even know me,” I whispered, my voice breaking slightly. He reached out, helping me adjust the blanket around my shoulders, his touch gentle, careful—not invasive, just… reassuring. “I do know you,” he said quietly. “I know enough. I know when someone needs help. And… I saw you. You’ve been through so much already. And I knew… letting you face this alone wouldn’t end well.” I wanted to say something, but the words got caught in my throat. My eyes welled up, the exhaustion, the betrayal, the fear—it all came rushing at me at once. I had trusted the wrong man. I had been used. And now… here was another, a stranger in my world who somehow felt like the first person I could lean on. He noticed my trembling and shook his head slightly, a faint smile returning. “Rest,” he said, a little gentler. “Sleep. You need it. When you wake up, we’ll talk. You’ll understand more… and I’ll explain everything. For now… just close your eyes. You’re safe here.” I tried to argue, tried to resist, but the heaviness in my body, the pain and confusion… it all pulled me under. I let my eyes close, and for the first time since Alaric ’s betrayal, I felt a small spark of relief. Somewhere deep down, I knew this night would change everything. I didn’t understand how, or why, or what would come next. But for now… I could rest. And maybe, just maybe, I wasn’t completely alone in this strange new world.
