Lynne called an old time friend Emmy to accompany her around the city. Emmy dressed in a navy blue skinny gown and arrived very late. Lynne was so mad at Emmy that, immediately she spotted her from a distance looking through her window, she yelled at her and later pulled her ears as she arrived the doorstep, without even listen to what ever explanations she had to give. Emmy shouted "why do this Lynne, is this how you welcome an old friend? My car breakdown reason why I wasn't on time". Lynne was so ashamed at her actions not being able to look at Emmy in the face. "I'm sorry Emmy, will take you out for a treat to make up for my deeds," Lynne said as she walked to the mirror to do final touches.
Both ladies were looking so stunning . They stepped out in their hot dresses which hugged their curves in all the right places, turning heads and stopping conversations. They dashed in Lynne's car and drove to almost every corner of the city. "My stomach is growling in hunger" Emmy said. It was time for Lynne to fulfill her promise. Emmy proposed the Golden Arches to try out their fast food. It was the finest in the city, while in Chicago Lynne had heard much about it that she just couldn't wait to try it out. When they got into the restaurant it was fully booked but they managed to snag the last available table. While waiting for their orders, they were chatting about old times.
Suddenly walked before them was, a vision of chiseled perfection. His 6-foot frame was wrapped in a tailored black suit, accentuating his broad shoulders.Dark hair framed his face, dark sparling eyes and his smile revealed dimples. He was Alex McDonald, a spoiled brad and son of Van McDonald. His dad was amongst the top richest men in the city. He owned Golden Arches restaurant, lots of restaurants and oil factories not only in the city but in other countries as well. Emmy's soul was captivated by this handsome stranger. She couldn't stop staring at this guy. When Lynne realized this she gave Emmy a pinch to bring her back to reality. Emmy cried out" Ouch aaaah what's was that for". Lynne replied "to bring you back to reality". With an air of entitlement, the handsome stranger strode up to the table, his chiseled features set in a confident smirk.
"Hey! you peasants" he said, his deep voice dripping with condescension. "I need this table. Vacate immediately ?"His tone implied that it was a foregone conclusion, that they would, of course, jump at the chance to surrender their seats to him.
Emmy who was a petite blonde, looked up at him with a mixture of annoyance and intimidation, quickly gathering her belongings and scurrying away. However, Lynne, a raven-haired beauty with a fiery spark in her eyes, remained seated. "I'm not going anywhere," she said, her voice firm and steady, meeting his gaze with a defiant glint in her eye. The stranger's smirk faltered for a moment, caught off guard by her refusal to back down.
The young man pulled Lynne by the hair and kicked her out. Everyone at the restaurant was murmuring, wondering if this man was actually raised by humans or by animals. But no one had the gods to stand up against him. He order security to ensure they don't get into the restaurant. In spite all the murmuring Alex didn't give a damn about what they were saying. He ordered for steaks and mashed potatoes while waiting for Jake his childhood friend. The staff were aware of his bad temperament so they served his order in seconds. When Jake came Alex narrated how he was insulted by a peasant girl. Jake was really eager to meet the girl who stood up at his friend. Don't bother Alex, she's just lucky you were kind towards he by just pulling her out of the restaurant Jake said."If I were around she will have been stripped naked", he said as they laughed.
"Hey! Waiter!" Jake yelled, his voice echoing through the restaurant.
The waiter, a harried-looking young man, rushed over to their table. 'I'm so sorry, sir. Is everything okay?'
Jake glared at him. "No, everything is not okay. I've been sitting here for 10 minutes, and you still haven't come to take our order."
Alex, who was sitting across from Jake, nodded in agreement. "Yeah, what's the problem? Can't you see he's starving here?"
The waiter apologized profusely. "I'm so sorry, sirs. It's just been really busy tonight. I'll take your order right away."
But Jake was having none of it. "You should have thought of that before you ignored me" he snapped, his face red with anger.
Alex stood up, his eyes blazing with fury. "You're not doing the job my dad is employing you for," he said, his voice menacing. And with that, Alex slapped the waiter across the face, making him stumble backward in shock.
Jake grinned, satisfied. "That's what you get for poor service," he said, nodding in approval.
The restaurant fell silent, with all eyes on the commotion at Jake and Alex's table. Alex and friend, immediately left the restaurant and went clubbing. The waiter, still reeling from the slap. "Lynne was so angry she couldn't stop talking about the incident as they rode home. Emmy told her she should have just left the seat for the young man, that will have spared them the embarrassment. When they arrived home, Lynne hurrily got into the kitchen to fix dinner. After eating they had some alcohol and overslept.
The next day, Lynne woke up at 7:50 am, she was almost late for her 8 am appointment at the University she had applied for. She rapidly changed into anything she could find in her closet and drove off. Deafening bang echoed through the air as two cars collided, sending shattering glass and twisted metal flying everywhere. Emmy's phone rang, while she was still fast asleep. Groggily, she reached over to answer it, still disoriented and responding in a sleepy haze.
As she groggily picked up the phone, the voice on the other end was laced with urgency. "Miss Emmy, I'm doctor Scott, Miss Lynne Johnson was involved in an accident and she's at Headers Hospital." Emmy's mind struggled to process the words, still foggy from sleep.
She sat up with a jolt, her heart racing.
"What? How bad is it?" She asked, already throwing off the covers and scrambling out of bed.
Emmy didn't wait to hear more. she hastily dressed and rushed out the door, her mind reeling with worst-case scenarios.
As she sprinted through the hospital corridors, her breath came in ragged gasps. She burst through the ICU doors, her eyes frantically scanning the room for a glimpse of Lynne.
Then, she saw her, lying motionless on the hospital bed, surrounded by beeping machines and sterile white sheets. Her face was pale, her eyes closed. Emmy felt like she's been punched in the gut. Emmy stumbled forward, her legs trembling beneath her.
"Lynne?" She whispered, her voice shaking. Lynne smiled and replied "Emmy I'm still here, haven't pulled your ears enough"." You gave me a scare Lynne what actually happened to you? " Emmy asked in curiosity. As she wanted to explain, the ICU door burst open and a tall, imposing figure strode in, his tailored suit and designer watch a stark contrast to the sterile hospital surroundings. His face was red with anger, his jaw clenched in frustration.
"Alex", he bellowed, his voice echoing off the hospital walls. Where is he?' A nurse nervously approached him, trying to explain the situation, but he cut her off.
He didn't seem to care about the details he just want to know why he's here again. And what's with all these scratches on his face?". Alex was silent.
"You crashed the Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail didn't you?" he thundered, his anger boiling over. "That car is a limited edition!. It's worth a fortune!." He shook his head, disgust etched on his face.
"Unbelievable. You're as reckless as your mother." He muttered under his breath, clearly seething with rage. The nurse looked taken aback by his outburst, but he didn't seem to care. He was too busy fuming about the damage to his precious car. Alex dad instructed for immediate discharge of his son to a better hospital. As Alex dad went to settle the bills, Alex moved to Lynne's bed and told her she will pay for damages caused due to her reckless driving. Then, his father came in and saw them talking. " Is this the p********e you were with all night? "With due respect sir. I'm not a prostitute." Lynne replied. Oooh I know what you want money " Here is a cheque of 5 million dollars. Take and never get close to my son again." He said . She took the cheque looked at it and tore it . "Sir your son due to his reckless driving put me in this condition put me in this condition and you stand here offering me money, like father like son " Lynne spoke out angrily. "What was I thinking young lady my apologies. Alex can't possibly go for a woman with brains and decency". Mr McDonald said. Alex dad settled Lynne's bills on their way out.
Immediately he left Emmy couldn't believe her eyes. She asked Lynne in shock " What's going on girl?. Am I dreaming is that not my rude crush the one at the restaurant?". Lynne too was surprised . Lynne explained to Emmy that Alex bumped into her car and was the reason why she was in this condition. Emmy jokingly said " Don't you feel it's faith bringing us together?." They both laughed out loudly. She was still worried about her appointment at the University. She wasn't able to make it and hoped the university will fix another appointment. But for the main time, the pain was becoming unbearable so she told Emmy to get the nurse. The nurse gave her some pain killer but, advised she had something to eat before taking the medications.
"Alex sat in the passenger seat, his eyes fixed on the road ahead as his dad drove them to a better hospital. The tension in the air was palpable, and Alex could feel his dad's critical gaze on him.
"You can't date a girl like Lynne,"his dad said suddenly, his voice firm. "She's not just beautiful but intelligent and not cheap. She deserves someone with more ambition, more drive like Edward your cousin. I think I will try matching them up" Alex dad said nodding his head.
Alex felt a sting from his dad's words, but he tried to keep his cool. Hi s dad snorted. " Will have wanted you for her but, you'll never even have a chance with her, Alex. You're not man enough to impress a girl like that."
